"So are you ready? Costs are way down," Trump said. "Gasoline is going to be hitting $2 pretty soon, or around $2. Gasoline is at $2.70 now and it was at $4.50 under Biden, under sleepy Joe. When gasoline comes down, when energy comes down -- and everybody agrees energy is down -- we drill, you know, drill, baby drill. We're going like wild."
Hopefully someone who is better informed on the topic can confirm or deny, but, isn't gas being down (ignoring that it apparently is all of one cent cheaper) a really bad sign for the health of the economy?

Also, every time he said it was $4.50 a gallon, there was nowhere in the US that had gas as high as $4.50 a gallon.

wages aren't down, labor is cheap!
i could go outside and find a dozen desperate people willing to work themselves to death for peanuts. that means the economy is awesome.

Trump has understood that economists spend a lot of time and effort to fake numbers. But since he is Trump, he doesn't have to be believable to be believed by his base. So why not just lie all the time?
