Maybe it's because I don't talk to many people, but I've never seen anyone hate on a black person for enjoying their blackness. Even with people that I know were racist, I saw that interacting with highly self loving black people would seem to put the racist people in a nice groove. But maybe it was mostly amicability, I'm not sure.
Not saying that hate on black people's self-love doesn't happen. Now that you say it, I definitely believe it does. Just saying it's strange to me that this is a real thing. Having pride in your ethnicity is respectable.

Just going off my vibes rather than actual data TBH, but, truthfully, I am beginning to feel like interracial couples (mainly thinking of Black x white couples) who are truly the non-problematic kindātwo people who genuinely love each other and just so happen to be of different racesāare an extreme minority when it comes to interracial couples. There usually seems to be some underlying problematic dynamic, such as internalized racism, performative wokeness, and fetishism (especially with how normalized and socially acceptable fetishism is).

don't get me started on how many interracial relationships in regions such as south east asia come from exploitative sexpats.
Unfortunately I've had guys who were sexually into me that were racist towards me in highschool. I didn't know there were people who wouldn't be racist towards me until a while after highschool, so I thought i had to put up with that shit.

I worry I stereotype my own race sometimes because I have so much trauma from being bullied by people in my childhood household. I see someone of my own race and worry they'll demand only the highest of standards out of me and my every action. There's so much more beyond that too. Idk how to deal with it. It has me fearing people who are probably very kind. Obviously I need to be in a community where I unlearn my fears. If I found more leftist spaces with my people I bet it would really help. It really breaks my heart that I haven't felt safe enough to date someone of my own ethnicity. Generational trauma can really shit on your perception of your own race.

Something that has never happened to me during this whole job hunting process just happened, and it's so damn weird (but it's actually positive).
A company that didn't hire me months back had turnover, and instead of just reposting the position on job boards, they decided to email me saying:
"Our system is showing that you applied for [position] back on [date], however that requisition was closed at the time. We now have a few positions available and want to reach out and see if you were still interested in a position with our organization. If you are, please respond to this email with some days/times that you would be open for a quick phone screen."
At first, I thought it could've been a scam or š§¢ but the email isn't lying. The date it listed actually is a date I applied, and it is a legitimate position for a company that I can actually locate and read about online on their official website. I did all the usual maneuvers to check for phishing and whatnot.
This is so god damn rare for companies to do, and it's honestly just sad how rare it is.
It shouldn't be hard for companies to do this.
As usual, expectations are low, but at least something different happened for once, so I went ahead and replied with some times.

I'm so sorry to ask this, but I've been trying to find an answer and have not. Can I get a run-down on what makes Yakub-posting so bad? The NOI itself is obviously problematic, the concepts the Yakub myth is based on are phrenological and race/bioessentialist absurdity, I see that. But that point about "NOI didn't fully believe the story but used it as a way to discuss race relations" is pretty clear; people who had that exact kind of 19th century "scientific" racism violently imposed upon them grappling with the concepts underlying it and talking about their suffering. Like, while I would not do it and am no fan of the NOI, I refuse to condemn any black person who uses that language to express their pain about what white people have done to them.
I don't use it because I'm not black, and I have some discomfort with the false history and. The possible explanations I could come up with from my searching about why it's problematic are:
I was walking with a then-friend (white) many years ago and we saw a Black Israelite preaching in the street about how white people were created by the devil or something. I didn't grasp exactly what he said but it sounded similar. She bristled at the "reverse racism". I was more nonchalant about it but still uncomfortable. I would be utterly shocked if "yakubposting is racist against white people" is the problem with yakubposting.
it looks like 4channers picked up Yakub and were Yakubposting to be racist against black people, mocking a story that only existed because of how brutally black people are oppressed in the first place. But are people here yakubposting to mock black people? Or are they doing it to mock oppressors?
So, I'm confused, and would like to learn what it is I'm missing here.

Sure sure, first make sure it's got enough liquid. Keep an eye on it every three hours or so with legumes they will suck up a lot of water while they cook so make sure they always covered and a bit more just in case you forget. I always cook them on high and rarely use low for making meals besides beans like stews honestly giving the veggies a quick sauteed on a pan with spices helps before you put them in the pot. Save the salting for afterwards and what I do is either mix the salt with some water before pouring it in at the end.

My principles and analysis of the world will remain fundamentally leftist, but leftism is just a tool in my toolbox. I feel no connection to the left as a "group" anymore. It has gotten way too unserious. Even this site, which many would consider "significantly better" than your average leftist space, has nothing truly redeemable about it. I hate to sound like a doomer, but leftism will continue to feel like a therapy group for individual catharsis and vibes rather than a legitimate basis for revolutionary tendencies.
I seriously hope this interview tomorrow goes wonderfully because, once I am in a position to no longer need financial assistance, I will certainly leave this site because it is not good for my wellbeing. Welp, my uncle got back to me with the job stuff, and none of it is really helpful. I don't have proper qualifications for any of the jobs he showed me, and a lot of them are for people outside of the US, even.
That bumped up my doomer feelings about this shit, honestly.
I am also trying again with that hospital job that one Black woman I mentioned earlier referred me to. It got posted again, so I applied and reached out to the hiring manager again. He said he is still going through interviews, but he took down my number and said he will get back to me.
Honestly, things seem so slow with their hiring process that I can't truly bring myself to expect anything positive. I told my referral, and she said, "Great! I'm glad you were able to reach him. My schedule during the day doesn't allow me to interact with him often. Hopefully, I'll run into him by Friday."
I really am so ready to be a wagecuck... I will start ASAP, work as many hours they want (overtime if they need it), work whatever schedule they want me to, and learn any skills I need for the job quickly. Unemployment can feel like a double-edged sword because, boy, it can feel good to not have to work, but I am officially at that point where I cannot even find joy in the laziness that unemployment allows. It has been going on too long and is now producing literal tears.

It's generational. A lot of older people prefer to be called "Indian" while younger people prefer "Native American," "Aboriginal," "First Nations," or "Indigenous." Some of it has to do with legal phrasing by the US government and seeing "Indian" as a badge of honor that was earned and reclaimed (see: AIM, or the American Indian Movement). Some of it is "Native American" was a term made by white people. Then there's tribes that are spread across the US into Canada or Mexico and they of course are going to identify with their family members over imaginary lines.

Something that has never happened to me during this whole job hunting process just happened, and it's so damn weird (but it's actually positive).
A company that didn't hire me months back had turnover, and instead of just reposting the position on job boards, they decided to email me saying:
"Our system is showing that you applied for [position] back on [date], however that requisition was closed at the time. We now have a few positions available and want to reach out and see if you were still interested in a position with our organization. If you are, please respond to this email with some days/times that you would be open for a quick phone screen."
At first, I thought it could've been a scam or š§¢ but the email isn't lying. The date it listed actually is a date I applied, and it is a legitimate position for a company that I can actually locate and read about online on their official website. I did all the usual maneuvers to check for phishing and whatnot.
This is so god damn rare for companies to do, and it's honestly just sad how rare it is.

Sure sure, first make sure it's got enough liquid. Keep an eye on it every three hours or so with legumes they will suck up a lot of water while they cook so make sure they always covered and a bit more just in case you forget. I always cook them on high and rarely use low for making meals besides beans like stews honestly giving the veggies a quick sauteed on a pan with spices helps before you put them in the pot. Save the salting for afterwards and what I do is either mix the salt with some water before pouring it in at the end.
I think i want to cook red beans in it. Not kidney beans, but the red beans popular among Asian people. I'm unsure if they're called azuki beans? Is azuki a different bean than a same-looking red bean, or is there just one Asian red bean and it's azuki beans?

Do Native Americans prefer to be called just that, or "Indians?" I heard that "Indians" is wrong because that label was due to a mistake of Christopher Colombus thinking he made it to India, but I'm not sure because Native Americans have called themselves that. It's generational. A lot of older people prefer to be called "Indian" while younger people prefer "Native American," "Aboriginal," "First Nations," or "Indigenous." Some of it has to do with legal phrasing by the US government and seeing "Indian" as a badge of honor that was earned and reclaimed (see: AIM, or the American Indian Movement). Some of it is "Native American" was a term made by white people. Then there's tribes that are spread across the US into Canada or Mexico and they of course are going to identify with their family members over imaginary lines.
I bet it's just easier to go by their tribe, I know the name of the one I live by and been asked by their members if I'm part of X tribe because I look similar

I still keep contact with a few people I know from there, but other than that, I'm no longer browsing those awful websites.
I keep telling myself I should keep them so that I can stay in touch with family, but I dont even really do that much anymore and vice-versa. And at this point most of what I see is ads and rage bait anyway, although I use a browser extension that kinda helps with that on Facebook.
