For anyone new who hasn’t seen my posts before…my sisters and I are trans refugees from Uganda. We fled after violence and persecution made it impossible to live safely and we ended up here in Juba, South Sudan. Life hasn’t been easy since. We’ve been attacked ,our shelter was burned and we’ve had to rebuild from nothing more than once. Through it all, the kindness and solidarity of comrades here have kept us alive.
One weeks ago, I came here scared that we were going to be thrown out of our small apartment. Because of your help, we’ve come so far. You helped us raise 531 usd out of 900 usd which meant we could pay half of the rent and finally reconnect our electricity and WiFi. That gave us light again, a way to stay connected and even hope.
Now, we’re just 369 usd away from clearing the rent fully. The caretaker came back today asking about it but he wasn’t angry like before…it gave me a bit of peace like maybe a miracle is still possible. Once we finish paying, we’ll be able to access water again. Right now, we have to walk far every day to fetch small jerrycans just to drink or wash, and it’s starting to feel unsafe since people have been threatening us just for being who we are.
Also the little food we bought with your help is also almost gone. So if there’s any extra support, it will help us buy something to eat too.
I know I’ve asked many times but I still believe in kindness. I still believe in people who care. To everyone who’s been bumping my posts, donating and sharing…thank you. You’ve kept us going through days that felt impossible.
If you can help us finish this rent or even just share our story again, it would mean everything. Every bit of solidarity keeps us alive.
