Also Einstein, Thomas Mann, Bertolt Brecht, Ernest Hemingway, and several others.

Crucible [he/him, comrade/them] - 2mon

and afterwards the US government drove Hemingway to his end by obsessively investigating him for being a socialist. He was sure he was being followed and everyone told him he was just being paranoid so he isolated himself more and more

61
Keld [he/him, any] - 2mon

Einstein's writing was burned because he was a jew. Hemmingway because he was a socialist.

56
MF_COOM [he/him] - 2mon

Einstein was a socialist too though

54
Keld [he/him, any] - 2mon

He was, but had he been a committed nazi his writing would still be that of a jew and his work would still be "jewish physics"

43
SerialExperimentsGay [she/her, fae/faer] - 2mon

The intersection of (whether real or perceived) Jewishness and having ideas Hitlerists considered dangerous is the common denominator for most authors in the book burning. Not all, Hemmingway was already mentioned, and there were Jewish authors whose works were forbidden, but not publically burned under great fanfare. But the overwhelming majority of the burnings targeted those the nazis found particularly triggering, and that's usually Jew + something else that sets them off.

Magnus Hirschfeld was smeared as "Germany's most dangerous Jew" in the nazi propaganda outlets for his gender research and advocacy for legalizing gay sex, Einsteins and Freuds ideas were demonized by the nazis because they both ran counter to the fascist ideology and because they were Jews, Marx or Trotzki served as examples of "Judeo-Bolshevism", Heinrich Heine was a socialist and personal friend of Marx and Engels, anti-nationalist and of Jewish descend, gentile anti-war writers like Remarque were simply claimed to have been Jews, all because antisemitism was the connective tissue that held fascism together.

In the end, fascism is just an endless, utterly incoherent list of bigottries and grievances, and when you want to connect all of these bigottries and grievances in a way that manages to tiptoe around the actual connection, stabilizing capitalism in crisis by instrumentalizing all insecurities and hatreds of the common chud to forge the most brutal oppressive force possible and crush all dissent, you have to make up a conspiratorial "master bogeyman" who orchestrates all the people that nazis hate.

Historically, this was the Jew. Today, it still is, they just dogwhistle around it. But in the end, whenever they talk about "Globalists" or "gender ideology" or "postmodern neo-marxists", of "coastal elites" or "BLM-CRT-Antifa" what they are actually saying is "the Learned Elders of Zion."

45
Keld [he/him, any] - 2mon

Einstein's first piece of socialist writing was written in exile. "Why Socialism" was written in 1949 and his work with the NAACP was after his works were banned in Germany.
His main political writings as of the time he was condemned as a proponent of "Jewish physics" were anti-anti semitic and opposed the nazis because of their anti semitism and anti "liberal" stances. Albert Einstein during the time of the Weimar republic was a proponent and founding member of the DDP which represented the right wing of the SDP led coalitions.

CalArts is a Soros conspiracy to destroy cartooning

(I'm joking but I would not be surprised to hear people believe this)

9
robot_dog_with_gun [they/them] - 2mon

i remember hearing people were mad about the "calarts style" being everywhere but i don't think i've seen any of the shows from that period.

8
Dessa [she/her] - 2mon

It got really intense around the mid-late 2010s with shows like Steven Universe, Star Vs. the Forces of Evil, Gumball, Craig of the Creek, etc, with the round-cheeked characters with stubby bodies. The term as far as I know, got popular via the John K blog though the CalArts style at that time that John K hated was more 90s Disney style.

Complaining about CalArts became for me an easy tell that the commentor was conservative, since the complaints really took off as cartoons were becoming more diverse

jewish physics

Wolfgang Pauli: Using the new quantum model we can demonstrate electrons have spin

Nazis: Spin? Like a DREIDEL?

36
SteamedHamberder [he/him] - 2mon

Initially Heisenberg's theories were decried as "Jewish Physics" as well, but eventually the Nazis figured out they couldn't develop a nuclear program without acknowledging the practicality of quantum mechanics.

27
Keld [he/him, any] - 2mon

This is like how the Japanese were declared to be white, or how rules on mischlings did not apply to Hitler's personal buddies. They were willing to compromise their bigotries when it was politically convenient for Hitler and the leadership of the nazi party personally.

31
D61 [any] - 2mon

Never forget that right wingers use rules and laws as tools to attack and control others. They don't use them as a common set of ideas that everybody allows themselves to be bound by to exist in a larger society.

33
Runcible [none/use name] - 2mon

ok, but had he been 100% aryan his writing would still be that of a socialist....

edit: starting to worry that this is in bad taste, but I was really only intending to argue that you can't part people out.

9
Keld [he/him, any] - 2mon

That doesn't even rise to the level of pedantry. His works were censored for being "jewish physics" not because of his political writings.

15
purpleworm [none/use name] - 2mon

No, you're correct as far as that any blond-haired blue-eyed 100% pure German dude who is proposing, say, the irreconcilability of class antagonisms would still have been imprisoned or killed if he had any social traction for supporting Judeo-Bolshevist ideals.

9
Keld [he/him, any] - 2mon

Einstein was not a socialist at the time his censorship began

3

This also heavily contributes to the “actually the Nazis were socialists” brainworms among chuds. The generalizing of “leftist thought being oppressed by Nazis” to “radical thought being oppressed by the Nazis” obfuscates how virulently anti-socialist and anti-communist the Nazis were.

51
Alaskaball [comrade/them, any] - 2mon

They got enough brainstorms they just say "it's leftist infighting" when told that

28
FlakesBongler [they/them] - 2mon

Lot of people aren't aware of the fact that the Nazi desire to "purify" society extended into every facet of life

Culture had to exemplify the righteousness of the Nazi cause and science was meant to prove the inevitable victory of the Aryan race

Still remember the first time I heard of World Ice Theory, it's both profound silly and utterly chilling (pun not intended)

48
miz [any, any] - 2mon

By his own account, Hörbiger was observing the Moon when he was struck by the notion that the brightness and roughness of its surface were due to ice. Shortly after, he dreamt that he was floating in space watching the swinging of a pendulum which grew longer and longer until it broke. "I knew that Newton had been wrong and that the sun's gravitational pull ceases to exist at three times the distance of Neptune", he concluded.

I've read through a couple of articles and I'm still struggling to understand the intrinsic ideological significance of WEL. Obviously the pseudo-science and explicit rejection of mathematics being applied to astronomy (?!) is terrible and the cult that disrupted scientific conferences and made such a huge movement for a completely nonsense theory is concerning, but I don't see how WEL itself is particularly helpful to fascism, especially since it rejects Newtonian ideas like gravity extending universally, when I thought the Nazis much preferred the Newtonian conception of the universe rather than the "Jewish" theory of relativity.

6
FlakesBongler [they/them] - 2mon

It was helpful in the sense that it allowed the Nazis to maintain cultural control over science

Because that's all it was, just another part of the Nazi propaganda machine

Behind the scenes, the scientists were all still using proper methodology, but under the understanding that speaking against these theories would be a one-way trip to destitution or termination

7
purpleworm [none/use name] - 2mon

So there is nothing specific to WEL itself, or some successor to publicly promote? I'm not sure about this theory of politics

2
NephewAlphaBravo [he/him] - 2mon

feels like a more purposeful version of flat earth or something, just generally nudging people to reject consensus reality so that they'll be more open to believeing other (specifically your) bullshit

2
purpleworm [none/use name] - 2mon

The thing about Flat Earth is that it heavily emphasizes a material conspiracy elaborately upheld by the world order in a way that wasn't true of, for example, geocentrism (which was violently upheld, but didn't undermine basic facets of society in the same way as, for example, ideas about falsified air travel does for Flat Earth).

When kids burned their math notebook at the end of the year, there were always some teachers/parents who made the point "that's like the book burnings the Nazis did".

Watch out, if you tell them the truth they'll turn anti-math and say numbers are communism.

What is irresponsible about it? It is not the responsibility of empire to educate people on these things. It would be irresponsible to do so. Otherwise chuds would have one less weapon to bastardize rhetoric with while liberals ensure nazis get a voice.

The point of what we do isn't to create a better world. It's to expand the empire.
