Um, ackshually the yards of linen are valued based on the cumulative labor time and effort required at all stages of the supply chain, from agriculture to refinement (spinning cotton into thread and weaving the cotton into linen cloth) and distribution, and therefore we can extrapolate the linen's exchange value relative to other costs (Ibn Khaldun, 1377), e.g., if a mass-produced yard of linen has a base cost of about four labor-hours, the store in the top-right of the graphic requires about two yards of linen per employee per shift in order to operate, again in terms of labor-hours. This is in spite of the fact that simply operating a shop is not in itself a physical commodity (unlike the linen) -- but this still applies since one's labor is effectively commodified under the capitalist mode of production.
Ibn Khaldun (1377). Muqaddimah.

I can just point at something and tell you whether it's dialectical or not. Earlier I was getting groceries and this lady picked up a tomato and I said "not that one- it's undialectical."
