The west is betting EVERYTHING on AI and EVERYTHING they can beat China in AI because they currently make better chips.

I expect china to make better chips in 3-4 years max, and the west loses all leverage in AI. No fucking way the west is gonna figure out peak ai in less than 3 fucking years.

Then what does western capital have to combat china? Its nuked all its manufacturing.

China is now ahead in nearly all tech other than semi conductors and its going to be ahead soon with how productive the Chinese are.

Its insane to me how western capitalists thought they could have an economy of make nothing forever and just finance capital forever and it would work.

5 years from now china will be able to kill the west without a bullet by shutting off all rare earth metals, and advanced technology.

Not only that, but Chinese developers can improve the efficiency of their models, as we saw with DeepSeek, and they can simply use more chips in parallel to compensate for individual chips being slower. Nvidia has already admitted that the latest Huawei cluster is competitive today.

You're absolutely right that with China controlling the supply of raw materials, it doesn't matter how advanced Western fabs are if they lack the inputs to operate them. Building out domestic refining capability will take at least a decade in the best-case scenario. This gives China a significant amount of time to advance its technology while the West figures out how to produce its own rare earth elements.

The West is in a difficult position. The policy missteps we see are a reflection of the fact that the people in charge often come from finance, law, and media. They have little experience with physical production or managing complex supply chains. They are used to dealing with abstractions and likely thought they could will an entire industry into existence overnight.
