Fools Talk

I'm actually thinking of starting a podcast. Please let me know if there's a better place for this. I'm mostly making this post to give this profile the smallest modicum of legitimacy. The idea behind this podcast is longform discussion with strangers. Definitely include some background of said stranger to know how much credibility should be given to opinions that are expressed, but expressing and dissecting opinions is the point. My main goal is show that everyone has a complicated web of opinions that doesn't fit into any neat box, as well as show how fallible human thought is.

To be transparent, I am vaguely a leftist. I don't love ascribing labels to myself, but what feels closest to where I'm at right now would be libertarian socialist. It isn't my intention to try and convert anyone to my way of thought, it's still the goals I stated above. Part of my belief structure means being open to the possibility of any of my ideas being wrong.

My strategy will be to challenge the ideas that are presented to me, to play devil's advocate, in order to find the strongest conclusion. I would like to speak to a great variety of people with a great variety of opinion. My current plan is for the first episode to be talking with someone on the right, and the second episode talking with someone on the left, and probably the third episode talking with a liberal.

That's as far ahead as I've thought for now, but nothing is set in stone as of yet. I'm trying to find the first guests on Lemmy right now. If you or anyone you know might be a good fit, please reach out and we can discuss logistics. Thanks for reading.

Sincerely, a fool.

Wasn't an answer to a question you didn't actually ask.

If you want my opinion, I'll give it. Otherwise I'll stick with semi-polite. No.

Are you new to lemmy/fediverse? you have posted to hexbear.net/c/podcasts. hexbear.net is hexbear, maybe you'd like to read around on the site some more to get a feel for it.

there are /c/podcasts on other domains and perhaps you'll find a better audience on one of them.

I suggest you do a websearch for how to use lemmy. Try a comm like https://lemmy.ml/c/asklemmy as a last resort.

Well it didn't.

Are you new to lemmy/fediverse?

No, just a new profile

When I searched for podcasts this is largest general comm. The only bigger one is for The Deprogram. Edit: the slrpnk.net comm is decently active but the only place for self promotion is a 2 year pinned post with a single 2 year old comment. Plus I'm not fully self promoting yet, just announcing intentions

And by legitimacy I mostly mean showing that I'm not a bot
