Hello nerds kirby-wave hope you all have a good next week

Remember no crackers

Lussy [he/him, des/pair] - 3mon

Holy shit, what the fuck causes white boomer women to think I, a 30 something brown man, would be interested them?

These are the vibes I’m getting at work and it’s extremely disturbing.

19
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

they watched too much 90 day fiance

13
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

speaking of that show, reality tv of making people laugh at interracial couples, that is literally it.

9
Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 3mon

Idk, their projection and fetishization - for a lack of a better term, orientalism.

13
Angel [any] - 3mon

This reminded me of when I got a kiss from a white lady in her 40's.

😳

12
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Wait what?

9
Angel [any] - 3mon

Yeah... happened like two years ago, though.

9
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

I used to not mind this idea towards myself but then I bonk myself pretty hard and did some self crit. I can't lie a lot of it has to do with loneliness but still I'm sorry you have to deal with this bs

11
Lussy [he/him, des/pair] - 3mon

I used to not mind this idea towards myself

Don’t want to be thought of in this manner by boomer women who will try to weaponize itand tell lies to fuck me over

10
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Fair enough misread where the 30 was earlier even then it shouldn't excuse being objectified. Understandable their word vs yours ends badly

10
Frogmanfromlake [none/use name] - 3mon

Lmao I’ve been there. I remember being a teenager and white women in their 40’s/50’s would tell me about how much they love Latin men. It was always painfully uncomfortable.

9
anarchoilluminati [comrade/them] - 3mon

I was talking to my dad today sharing some good and very important family news.

Dad: I'm just a little sad right now, my friend was killed yesterday.

Me: Oh my God! What happened? Which friend?

D: My friend Charlie.

M: Charlie? Who's Charlie?

D: Charlie Kirk.

M: PFFFFFFT LOL

Apparently we all lost a really intelligent man who just wanted to help other people. And he was not talking about the killer.

17
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Now I'm thinking about environmental racism, the capitalist class truly love shitting where they don't eat. Fuck factory farming, fuck oil pipelines and fuck AI data centers. There are more things to list but I'm hungry rn. Guess it's colonialism all the way down same like with the police.

17
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

And it will get worse. They already try to pin all the blame on India etc like cumulative effective isn't a thing

12
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

it's the "our industrial revolution was cool and good but theirs is unnecessary" shit turning around like they actually care instead of an attempt to knee cap other countries to preserve their power.

13
Rojo27 [he/him] - 3mon

To add to this: if you think about where most oil refinement facilities are located as well as other environmentally harmful industries (think chemical processing, industrial farming, etc) in the US and Canada, the people who are almost always disproportionately affected are black and brown people.

I was thinking about this because there was recently a story of how some white suburbanites are upset because a storage battery facility was going to be put in the neighborhood. And I started thinking about how much attention the story would have gotten if it had been a predominantly black/brown neighborhood.

Shit fucking sucks.

11
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Yup I first heard of this when it came to pipelines running to close to white cities but indigenous people's land is alright why not. The power white people have to move shit can't be understated.

11
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

There was a documentary recent one about how musk data centers were affecting those communities in horrible ways and nothings being done. Was from more perfect union.

11
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Oh yeah and fuck anti-cracker-aktion that's what I almost forgot

10
T34_69 [none/use name] - 3mon

Poor air quality too, all these things adding up to millions of excess deaths every year and guess who's impacted the least

12
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

That too true

8
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Bringing up racism in white people's favorite escapism fantasy settings always leaves them reeling especially if they feel themselves as progressive in some manner. The headspace I get from them is "I'm not doing a racism myself just letting it slide from friends/family/strangers whenever it comes up, how am I the bad guy?" They more confrontational at being called racist than they feel like confronting the racist culture around them.

16
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

3 HBCU campuses on lockdown from death threats. White man kill white supremacists HBCU gets threatened. Most on brand American shit

15
Rojo27 [he/him] - 3mon

But remember, Charlie didn't deserve to die for his opinions which many a white supremacist also holdmaybe-later-kiddo

13
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Ayo funny thing is she is roasting the shit outta him. She became kinda based hahaha

12
Rojo27 [he/him] - 3mon

Dang, thats wild. The libs can have a little credit, as a treati-cant

10
FunkyStuff [he/him] - 3mon

The deontological imperative means you can't wish death on people for holding opinions like Kirk's. It causes too many logistical problems.

9
homhom9000 [she/her] - 3mon

My non-white coworker, who takes public transit, is very shaken up about what happened in NC. I know it's not technically racial but also I know it is.

A whitey just shot up 20 children not even a month ago. Random violence is as amerikan as apple pie but whiteys wanna act like only Black people are violent.

15
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Ask him who are is doing the most killing of Ukrainians and Russians which has reached hundreds of thousands at this point

7
Angel [any] - 3mon

I'm at a point where I functionally can no longer see myself in a relationship with a non-Black person again. I've been thinking a lot on this subject, and my mind has been kind of uncertain these past few months or so.

What I ultimately came to realize is that, in the context of how I view love, there will be always be something critically lacking in any relationship I'd have with a non-Black person.

At first, the thought of continuing to accept non-Black partners seemed possibly within my reach so long as they truly were based, were radical, and understood how to fight against anti-Blackness, and as great as some non-Black people are in these regards, I'm now at a point where the thought of dating any non-Black person feels as right as the thought of dating a conservative.

Of course, that's not me saying it's as bad—hell no. My point is that it just indescribably feels "off" in a way that no amount of other things we have in common can reconcile. Very much needed solidarity will always be missing.

Ideally, I want a partner who has a lot of things in common with me (the aforementioned 5 traits I've brought up several times). However, to keep my pool somewhat open, I'm going to base my search for a partner (when I'm ready—not a priority at the moment) off of these three things: Blackness, queerness, and veganism.

I'll go from there, but what I can certainly say now is that I will never entertain romantic and/or intimate encounters with non-Black people ever again.

15
MizuTama [he/him, any] - 3mon

I'm at a point where I functionally can no longer see myself in a relationship with a non-Black person again. I've been thinking a lot on this subject, and my mind has been kind of uncertain these past few months or so.

I landed in a different position, but I think this is something a lot of Black people have to reckon with internally at some point, and I'm glad you found your answer!

meow-hug

11
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

I remember this episode of static shock where Virgil's dad was dating a cop acab-3 and like Virgil runs away from the cops when they were gonna go through his backpack. The show goes out of its way of justifying from the cops perspective because they really really need to find something super duper important 🥺 nvm 4th amendment protections.

I know it's still cape shit but in the first season I quite liked it because of it's themes of community and understanding. The show got bigger and eventually folded into the DC universe but that wasn't why I was there to begin with.

15
FunkyStuff [he/him] - 3mon

I remember watching a little bit of that show when I was a kid. I don't remember if it stopped airing on local networks or something because I think I only ever got to see about 4 episodes.

10
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

I think it used to be on the WB first season is worth a watch though it been a while since I seen it

9
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

I was followed by a bunch of men telling me how good my pussy smelled, I don't like going out.

Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 3mon

Judas Priest - wth?

10
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 3mon

"What if we used pickup lines from Silence of the Lambs?"

"Yeah! That totally won't make us sound like serial killers!"

9
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

Silence of the Lambs?"

I think that movie is transphobic or ableist no?

7
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 3mon

Both, yes. Which is why you shouldn't use it as a guide for harassing people.

5
daofaorao [none/use name] - 3mon

i dont think ill ever get into superhero media in a way a lot of people are. its like greek mythology/percy jackson-esque fandoms. theres just very little for me to identify with. the exceptionalism of it all. yes im sure its easy to be a "good person" when you literally cant lose because youre that much better than anyone else. pretty much no stakes either because of that. its just masturbatory.

read something like journey to the west or watch the 1986 show instead.

15
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

Dragon Ball avoids this issue by being peak

13
daofaorao [none/use name] - 3mon

thats the thing, dragon ball shares a lot of elements with superheroes yes, but it was first heavily inspired by journey to the west first and foremost. goku is exceptional but not in the ways thats totally inherent to his birthright. among the saiyans he was a destined low class warrior. half of the time he's sparring with forces matching him or even beyond him. most of the time the struggle against antagonists in each arc is a group effort that doesnt necessarily rely solely on his individual role.

its these elements that i think is how goku managed to resonate with so much with people in the global south. it aint just a meme

13
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

sicko-beaming

10
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

That's one reason Spiderman was popular. He's very relatable guy that is the underdog in a lot of fights and an underdog in his personal life. A working class guy doing the right thing. Jokes a ton because he's legit nervous so he isn't the stoic stone faced guy like a lot of traditional heroes are. One of the best scenes in a superhero movie is in spiderman 2 when the civilians took his mask off and found he was a kid. I just don't get that feeling much with MCU spiderman tbh

12
hello_hello [comrade/them] - 3mon

Spideyverse is legitimately groundbreaking for me. The first super hero movie where I actually felt seen for the first time.

Unlimited spideyverse type movies on the capeshit world.

7
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

You could make several movies just from each characters in the spideyverse. Like one for miguel as to how he became who he is. Or spider punk.

gay cake !

13
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Police watch me sometimes when I'm at the park, they haven't harassed me or anything and I'm usually too zoned out reading/writing/listening to music most of the time. I do think they are getting annoyed with me being so boring, idk having to preform and like this is eh. I'm used to by now always being put under a microscope, like it doesn't help my anxiety most of the time but sometimes I just wanna be invisible.

14
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

Cops being so racist they're acting like you're Mike Ermentraut

11
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

waltuh I've been watching breaking bad recently after finishing better call saul so I get this reference now. For me there is no end goal other than waiting on the library to open to look for jobs or just waiting on the temp agency I joined to find something on my schedule. I suspect being creature also factors in to me having a schedule and being consistent in where I sit and what I do everyday there.

10
Blockocheese [any] - 3mon

Hearing the blue genocide whites at my job talking about how evil it is to celebrate Kirk getting got agony-shivering

14
dkr567 [comrade/them, he/him] - 3mon

I'm at this point fully convinced that most white ass Americans all share to a degree, the same exact white supremacist views as Kirk did.

16
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Even on this site there was some soul talm bout oh ryan reynolds just wants to find common ground with chuds. Its like what common ground? Everything the left in America hell several libs (seen chuds agree with it but keep being in denial) fight for.... Benefits them too i-cant healthcare, better work conditions etc. Meanwhile these mfs fighting to strip civil rights of damn near every non rich white person. Like wtf do they even stand for? That kirk guy the right are crying for.... Say civil rights act was a mistake. This is who many people say is the realest in a crazy world. I see why China has a great firewall tbh

12
Rojo27 [he/him] - 3mon

I love seeing the free speech absolutists squirming to celebrate a man who constantly advocated for taking away other people's rights.

10
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Shit I know europe ain't having it easy but I imagine that several there along with lots of country in asia see their significantly better healtcare, education, life expectancy, food quality, lower gun deaths, SA numbers, infant mortality rates, housing rates, homeless rates, reproductive rights, upward mobility etc would give it all up for that 2nd Amendment. thurston. Even the euro vassals that are deteriorating got a long way to go befors reaching the levels and mandem braggin about paying for their lifestyle thats-why-im-confused

8
Blockocheese [any] - 3mon

I mean just look at this site of "leftists" when it comes to defending zionism

11
SevenSkalls [he/him] - 3mon

When were people here defending Zionism?

1
WildWeezing420 [he/him] - 3mon

you missed the last struggle session then?

3
SevenSkalls [he/him] - 3mon

Haha guess so.

2
Frogmanfromlake [none/use name] - 3mon

I really don’t know how so many American poc willingly choose to date/marry them

4
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

They can piss, moan, kick scream even off some leftists and libs. Charlie kirk is on the highway to hell and there is nothiiiiiiiing yoooooooooou can doooo about it data-laughing

11
Blockocheese [any] - 3mon

"They're talking about this to distract from Trump being on the epstein list"<- white person who's ignored the Palestinian genocide for 2 years

10
Rojo27 [he/him] - 3mon

Sad no one at work brought it up yesterday so I could laugh. Then again a lot of my coworkers are based enough to have laughed and joked when Queen Elizabeth died, so I might have been pleasantly surprised by the reactions.

7
homhom9000 [she/her] - 3mon

Still a little iffy here since all the stuff went down about burning the flag, but talking to other POC eases my anxiety.

Talked with some coworkers, we're all various kinds of POC that's been in the headlines lately, and it's been so relaxing. We all fundamentally understand racism because we experience it. The big difference is some other POC are feeling it from the state now while Black folk been feeling it since we were brought here. Regardless, we're able to agree that we feel it and it's all connected and we have solidarity with each others over it and that's enough to keep me going.

Just also wish my coworkers didn't have the liberal slant but one thing at a time.

14
Angel [any] - 3mon

Same!

This exemplifies why I always say "I'm Black before anything else."

In my opinion (might be a hot take depending on who you ask), I seriously will not hesitate to say that well-meaning Black liberals are easier for me to get along with than a whole lot of white Marxists.

13
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

I get what you mean. Its hard to explain. The amount of dehumanization and propaganda against us for hundreds of years globally has been insane. The amount my family has been exposed to. People can't put it into words. Hell saw a study in the US that racism cost trillions in a short time. The amount being drained from my continent. you can't put a number on it. These folks couldn't understand. I seen several marxist turn to the wrong side but I am black african until I die and I cannot change that and wouldn't change that for anything

10
homhom9000 [she/her] - 3mon

Whenever something egregious happens to my race, I feel it in my bones, even when reading about things in the past, I feel it deeply. I know other races feel it too. You can't learn that

5
homhom9000 [she/her] - 3mon

Hard agree. Because Black folk know what it's about, even if they believe in liberalism or Obama, they know what this country thinks about us and how this country treats us. My elders were the "pull up your pants" type of Black folk but still taught me the pride in being Black and the horror jim crow. I trust them and their judgment

9
Angel [any] - 3mon

Something I can say is that even a Black conservative, as much as they may dislike my queerness and politics, differs greatly from many white leftists in the fact that they still acknowledge that I am human.

6
homhom9000 [she/her] - 3mon

Absolutely. Love em or hate em, they're my people and we fundamentally understand that.

6
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

So the supreme court in America ruled its okay to racially profile huh. I hate these motherfuckers

13
Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 3mon

Always has been. It's just that liberals just asked them to mask it away, for a while...

10
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Yes indeed. Now they wanna be loud and proud with it towards latin americans

7
la_tasalana_intissari_mata [comrade/them] - 3mon

aaaaaaaaaaa the next obama will come in like a bandit and "fix everything" by making them not say it out loud

6
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

It will be back to tan suits. Oh nah.... whats one of their dems say? Theres no going back. This is who they are. That brief period of not saying it out loud is an anomaly in their history.

5
Blockocheese [any] - 3mon

"They dont even call it 'Japan' in Japan" <-smartest white at my job

13
thelastaxolotl [he/him] - 3mon

They learned their first Endonym

9
Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 3mon

What next they learn? China is not the endonym; it's actually Zhongguo?

8

Charlie Kirk: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’” Shit you don't have to worry about black pilots..... Or any pilot again. Look at death laughing hahaha look at it

13
FunkyStuff [he/him] - 3mon

If I see a white security guard at my speaking event, I'm going to be like, "Boy, I hope he's qualified."

10
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Ayoooooo DUI security and DUI hesgeth.

Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 3mon

Just had a trip in Quebec City. Feels like any other Canadian city but france-cool edition...

13
Angel [any] - 3mon

Managed to find an Afro-Caribbean non-binary therapist willing to provide pro-bono therapy for me. This is real nice. My last therapist was a dismissive cis white gay man who was deeply infuriating and ineffective.

13
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

Ngl the Kirk stuff did worry me some the other day because of the possible back lash but like if I have to monitor every anti-cracker-aktion fit I would never get things done. Focusing on my HVAC career and the possibility finally of helping to lift my family out of poverty. I got goals and a future for when acab finally goes down

12
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 3mon

doggirl-cry I gotta keep studying and get a job but I can't help to think this might be learn to code advice. I don't mind studying I really don't and I love the material but without any material/structural change shit just keeps getting worse in america and best I can offer my friends and family is maybe try hvac. man fuck this dog shit country

10
Angel [any] - 3mon

My dreads been lookin a way that got me feelin like Shadow the Hedeghog (and I love it)

12
Frogmanfromlake [none/use name] - 3mon

EU officials downplaying china’s significance in ww2 isn’t too surprising. A bunch of America worshipping whites who live off Netflix and US social media slop. Surprised they even know the history of their own countries.

12
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Always laugh at those libs acting like they're defying trump by not buying some American wine like Europe isn't pivoting to get fleeced out of billions by the US for oil money i-cant

10
vegeta1 [he/him] - 3mon

Are the farmers facing bankruptcy begging for help from the government gonna be called welfare Queens or is that only for us-foreign-policy

12
Frogmanfromlake [none/use name] - 3mon

The Charlie Kirk thing is pretty interesting. You don’t typically see assassination carried out like that in the US compared to Central America where that’s considered getting off easy. A little nervous about how this will escalate things over there.

11
Angel [any] - 3mon

Got 5 interviews on my calendar right now, and I'm sure I got more to come timmy-pray

11
Angel [any] - 3mon

Woke up and had a voicemail for this missed call to set up an interview.

I called back to set up an interview, and that is one W, but another is that, even with my groggy, "just woke up" voice, the person on the phone called me "Miss." That means my voice passes as femme at this point. Nice.

11
SevenSkalls [he/him] - 3mon

Apparently I missed a big struggle it sounds like about em poc people? Which is weird because I check hexbear every day.

10
MizuTama [he/him, any] - 3mon

You miss the open floor meta post?

5
SevenSkalls [he/him] - 3mon

Ya I think so. Sounds like drama was in it from people getting banned?

3
MizuTama [he/him, any] - 3mon

The post in question btw: https://hexbear.net/post/5974671

Basically, a comrade had some heavy criticism about how Judaism is used as a cover for zionism and even went to the point of saying that antisemitism is an illegitimate concept in the current day, being used as a rhetorical weapon against those colonized by or trying to speak for those colonized by the zionist entity and catering to them in these issues is no different than catering towards white people in regards to race issues. They were harsher than my quick summary can convey, but the user had their comment removed and was banned by an admin for antisemitism, which was then overruled by another admin who apologized on behalf of the team. I wasn't monitoring real-time, but between the initial banning and the admin who lifted the ban checking in, it appears hell was raised about it and for good reason didn't immediately stop after.

While the ban was lifted, I believe I saw that the user in question found it a pill that couldn't be swallowed, and it appears they have left the forum.

Had some branch-off debates about how to solve the issue, from forcing mods to have their name signed to mod actions, or maybe just having more shades of skin on the mod team will fix this.

Upsetting, but it is what it is shrug-outta-hecks

8
SevenSkalls [he/him] - 3mon

Thanks for the summary!

That's a tough one because basically anyone can volunteer to be a mod here, so there's not much you can do about that last point other than asking more em poc's to apply. You can't really force anyone to be a mod.

4
MizuTama [he/him, any] - 3mon

Eh, even if there are more, doesn't exclude chauvinism or simply someone else getting to it first. From my what was said in the thread, 40% of the mods are already so not sure what will change with an increase.

Angel [any] - 3mon

::: spoiler [CW: Racist, Zionist, and Misanthropic BS in the Vegan Movement] There's this awful right-wing "vegan" activist who'll call himself a "centrist," and he simps hard for Gary Yourofsky. His name is George. I'll explain why this is relevant down the line.

For those of you who don't know, Gary Yourofsky is considered to be one of the most influential vegan activists there is, having a very wide reach when it comes to his messaging. He retired for about a decade, but he recently came back.

The thing about Yourofsky is that he is a hardcore Zionist, and he's one who claims to have "made 5% of Israel vegan," but he has no actual data that supports this claim.

Since his return, Yourofsky has been doing interviews with several vegan YouTubers, creators, and activists, and recently, he did what he called his last one for the time being, a so-called "debate" with intersectional vegans Natalie Fulton and Catherine Klein. (CW)

Now, I watched this whole thing, and it's honestly so damn embarrassing to watch. Gary got extreme levels of angry just because they challenged him on his Zionism. And by no means were they aggressive about this. They were incredibly polite and gentle with how they approached the subject with this man, certainly far more than I'd be, yet he just started lashing out, swearing, and saying contradictory back and forth things (e.g., on one hand, he'd say "Fuck all humans" and more generalized misanthropic platitudes, but then say something that praises Israelis in particular and denounces Palestinians in particular).

Regarding his "I turned 5% of Israel vegan" claim, Catherine responded by providing statistics stating that Israel is #8 in the world for meat consumption and #1 in the world for chicken consumption, emphasizing that the amount of chickens who die for Israeli food is a huge number especially because chickens are small individuals who get exploited in large quantities. She also noted that the claim that Israel is "the most vegan country in the world" has no sound evidence or empirical data. It's actually a talking point pushed by this Israeli asshat who runs a large "vegan" organization.

And, of course, on top of all of this, Catherine noted that, even if Israel is this "vegan" (meaning "very plant-based" really) haven that Zionist "vegans" say it is, it doesn't excuse genocide.

What baffles me the most about this whole stream is that Gary Yourofsky did a typical liberal move where he basically unknowingly blurted out "I love radical aesthetics but not actual radical politics!" By that, I mean he said that Malcolm X is one of his favorite figures in all of history. What the fuck.

This was all too much a fucking mess because Gary has such a huge fucking ego that he hates being challenged on anything ever.

So, now, back to the first sentence I made about George, this awful right-wing "vegan" activist who'll call himself a centrist and simp for Gary Yourofsky. He made a video responding to this debate, and of course, in it, he was cucking for Gary really hard.

In his comments, someone said, "I'd feel more sympathy for Palestinians if they were vegan."

George seemingly had no issue with that!

On this subject, I find it really odd when Zionist "vegans" say shit like this, as if Palestinians are especially non-vegan when compared to other groups of people, let alone the sheer disregard for their material conditions. Obviously, most people of any given country, culture, and ethnic group are going to be non-vegan, period. And yes, that quite clearly includes Pissraelis.

But in comes this hypocrisy: George has been whining a lot about Charlie KKKirKKK's death on social media, and on a Facebook post he made today, he states:

You do not need to know who Charlie Kirk was.

You do not need to know what party he voted for.

You do not need to know what political opinions he had.

All you need to know is that a husband, and a father of 2 young children, was shot in the throat while engaging in peaceful debate on a Western country's university campus, in 2025.

Note: I will be deleting ALL comments that just condemn him for what opinions he had or for subjectively being a "bad person", in accordance with the very principle of this post.

LMAO, I love how he mentioned "On a Western country's..." specifically. I should also note that this guy is big on some freeze-peach shit.

But besides him allegedly being a champion for "free speech," here's the crucial irony that exposes just how disingenuous this concerning trend of veganwashing Isn'trael's genocide is: Charlie Kirk was firmly anti-vegan.

Ridiculousness all around.

The fact that people like this are too damn common in the "vegan" movement makes me so iffy about a lot of them. Certainly is a part of the reason why I took a big break from browsing the vegan side of social media. :::

Went to lunch with a friend today, it was nice until the topic of Charlie Kirk came up. I didn't hold back my delight at his death and made clear that he deserved it. My friend immediately starts going on about how that makes me as bad as MAGA - an argument that I don't engage with because it's a stupid person argument - and how I'm radical, which I say "Yes!" to.

He's recently been pivoting hard into Christianity and I know he spends a lot of time on Reddit, likely where he forms his political opinions. He tried to spin me a story about this Christian woman who forgave the killer of her children... after 3 days. He expected me to be impressed but I just found the idea of that absurd. How could anyone possibly do that? How could someone else hear that and think it's something to emulate or be proud of? It's just absurd.

I think he was trying to suggest people should forgive Charlie Kirk out of some Christian idealism - but no, why? I believe in second chances, but the man spouted evil up until the moment he died. He wasn't sorry. This was his grift, this was his job.

I felt a bit bad for ripping the woman he mentioned to shreds so I apologised if I offended him, and he 'joked' "no, I know you're just not very intelligent." This irked me because he is just like everyone else, going along with the mainstream narrative, believing and saying what they're being told to say about Charlie. Not using any critical thought. He's gay too (but white passing) and yet he doesn't see the threat that people like Charlie Kirk are to us. His solution to people advocating for the removal of our rights and our murder is to forgive them. And yet I'm the unintelligent one.

I don't have respect for people like that. He will never contribute positively to liberation. He's a citizen, he will happily live his life and be absorbed by his little problems, irrespective of what is happening around him, irrespective of the type of political climate he is living under - until it affects him. He's my friend but equally people like that sicken me because they are the majority and their lack of attention to things that matter and their willingness to parrot what they're told without critical thought is what enables all of this.

::: spoiler unsolicited sermon Coming from another Christian, you didn't really say anything wrong and his example isn't appropriate. It's one thing for someone to do something wrong to you and for you to forgive them (or decide to hold a grudge), it's a different thing entirely to identify the oppressive dynamic happening to other people and situate yourself accordingly. If you hold any marginalized identity yourself, then there is a sense in which Kirk's actions were harmful to you individually and, from your friend's perspective, you would have to let go of that grudge to forgive him. But only thinking that way is a very liberal (and therefore the default in our bourgeois society) way to think; clearly our feelings about what happens on the news are a lot more about the societal forces at play, the contradictions in which we may identify an oppressor and the oppressed, are much bigger than our personal grievances about instances of harm we've been dealt. There's a concept in Liberation Theology of collective sin, and it's inherently tied to that distinction between the harm that individuals are capable of, versus the harm that entire systems may inflict.

Anyway, if I was there, I would interject when your friend said you weren't very intelligent to say that the proposition that it's a Christian's task to forgive the collective sin committed by an entire society is misguided; at least, it's a very 21st century neoliberal version of Christianity to think that when the TV/internet man dies you have to say a prayer for him and never speak ill of him or even feel negatively. The kind of forgiveness he's talking about is fantastical and individualistic. It's the negative peace which is the absence of tension which MLK Jr. spoke about. Actual forgiveness comes as the result of a whole community working to heal the wounds that were inflicted, that's the mercy you're supposed to show each other.

Nobody here knows about Charlie Kirk except me and an expat from Canada lol

All I can see from US social media is that the Groypers think this is their time to shine by saying things like “You thought Charlie Kirk was bad? Wait until Nick Fuentes becomes just as big”

The thing about the AES countries is that they aren't states that had a proper revolution with a vanguard party, Ibrahim Traoré being a communist in power is accidental, he came in a coup and just happened to be a commie, and could be the only communist in the whole government, the people of the country are still uneducated or even misinformed by Saudi Madrassas and IS-S dawah groups. you can't really just ban homophobia or ban reactionary thought, or scan every officer to see if he'd coup you for supporting gay rights, in the same way you can't really ban homosexuality by law, law and law enforcement can't stop love or hate crimes, but systematic change to institutes, to education and state propaganda.

Burkina Faso is a country taking its first breaths, walking its first steps, you can criticise its wrong steps without breaking its legs. Is it the right decision or a correct strategic move? is it right to throw LGBT people under the bus for this? we can't tell right now, but it can get repealed or not be enforced. like "our country has arrested 0 gay people this year because none of us are gay :D" type of theater.

Every fucking time, I damn the france-cool, the Saudis, and collaborators like Compaore, for hamstring Burkina Faso, after killing Sankara and before Traore came to power.

Recently, I managed to make some strikingly good gluten-free vegan deli slices using portabella mushrooms.

I don't have any issues with consuming gluten, but I can't use gluten to make vegan deli slices because VWG/seitan is not readily available where I am, and pre-packaged deli slices like Tofurky are expensive, so I started to seek different solutions.

Tofu is alright, especially since it's quite rich in protein, but I still feel like the texture doesn't come close enough.

Once I sliced some portabella mushrooms really damn thin and seasoned them just right, I realized that the texture outcome is perfect. It goes so good on a sandwich, but ya gotta cut it real thin.

Typically, the seasoning I use is:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp EVOO
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1.5 tsp liquid smoke
  • 2 tbsp agave
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar
  • a pinch of cinnamon

Coat the thin slices in this marinade in a container.

I use the microwave, and I microwave it for a fairly lengthy amount of time (5 minutes) to release the moisture and give it that perfect texture. I put a lid on the container and just crack it slightly.

Would highly recommend! I put nutritional yeast and sriracha on it as a sandwich, and I eat it with BBQ beans and non-mayo coleslaw on the side.

Got a few interviews lined up. It sucks how it's been raining over here and I usually walk to get places. A friend of mine (the same one who got me the cake) said he's willing to get me any Ubers I need. Love him for that.

I type 120 WPM, and I just found this transcriptionist job that I feel pretty damn hopeful about.

Most people online who describe their experience doing the job (even R*dditors) speak pretty positively about it, and I find that's rare for these freelance kind of jobs.

They are also willing to do an over-the-phone interview (which I should get an email about in a bit, as I've just taken an assessment for them). I see this as a plus. Too many of these remote, freelancing kind of jobs would never actually let you connect with an actual person. They overall have an issue of lacking transparency big time.

The job also deals with legal and medical concerns, which are constantly in need of people to do transcriptions, so people have been saying that the job gives them plenty of work for it to be a full-time thing for them.

As expected, pay rate differs depending on how fast you type. It has been stated that someone who types 75 WPM should expect around 11 USD an hour, but someone who types 100 WPM should expect around 15 an hour. With my 120 WPM? Who knows?

I'm not getting my hopes up too much, though. Some people have stated negative things about this job, particularly tight deadlines and the fact that you may be dealing with emotionally intense stuff having to transcribe for legal and medical cases. However, for the point about the tight deadlines in particular, people have stated that if you have an absurdly fast typing speed (like I do), it's far less of an issue.

I'm still applying to other jobs a whole lot, and I also got a few interviews to show up to next week, so that still goes on, but fingers crossed on this one for sure! 🤞🏿 The fact that it's remote is also a major plus for me because I don't drive, and I live in an area where it rains rather frequently.

I'm taking the time to remaster all the MIDIs I have for the songs I've written so that I have a solid proof of concept.

I did this one last night. This is the opening track of the album.

I'm happy with how this mix sounds, and this entire process of mixing these tracks has been a way of teaching myself production, though I still have much to learn.

Overall, for this track, I'm really proud of the guitar solo (also, a wah bass solo is played underneath it around 3:25), and I think the ambient/clean guitar track is solid, too.

I've also finished lyrics for 2 songs already. That gives me 5 more to go because, though there are 9 original tracks in total, 2 are fully instrumental.
