Oh.... Lol I'm stupid

9
Angel [any] - 8mon

Well, hey, as some wise comrade once said:

"I may be stupid, but at least I'm not a liberal."

Be proud of yourself.

10
CrookedSerpent [she/her] - 8mon

I thought everyone on this site was a liberal tho?.... Except for that one guy who said that of course.

7

I'm the only true liberal on Hexchat.bear.

FD Signifier releasing video still caping for Kamala & the Dems picard

20
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

Well that's disappointing. I stopped watching him a few years ago because I felt like I was spending too much time on YouTube instead of doing anything else. Like do I really want to spend 2 hours every day listening to video essays, even if they're good topics? Didn't realize he became more lib.

11
Frivolous_Beatnik [comrade/them, any] - 8mon

Idk if he's gotten more lib or is just one of the folks who got a little brain fried by the election and the absurd naked fascism that has accelerated since - especially the El Salvador deportation stuff

12
Rojo27 [he/him] - 8mon

Like Frivolous_Beatnik said, he's not really more lib as much as its an, and I don't really know of a better way of saying it, having the wrong reaction to whats going on. Prior to the election he had already more or less said that voting for Kamala wouldn't be the worst thing to prevent a Trump presidency, although he wasn't exactly endorsing her either. I haven't watched the latest video, but when I saw it pop up on my feed I had a bad feeling. Its disappointing that he feels the need to go to bat for Dems when so many of his videos have pointed out how bad the party has been, especially when it comes to policing policy.

9
Frivolous_Beatnik [comrade/them, any] - 8mon

He still says they're bad, but his vibe is that Kamala would've been significantly different and she was kept out of office by systemic racism and misogyny which, while that's part of it sure, is still ignoring the effect that endorsing the most publicly visible genocide in history might have on the voting populace. That, and her essentially promising nothing would get better.

13
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

Racism and sexism does play into it, but less so in the primaries where it was obvious she wasn't a good candidate. Dems still gush over Obama and Hillary Clinton. They simply don't like Harris because she's a slimeball. Minorities within the Democrats especially don't like her because she's a cop.

But really it's like you said, she promised nothing would fundamentally change. Dems forgot Biden only won because Trump mishandled covid. Once Biden got into office? He allowed Trump's policies to continue, including ignoring covid.

I know a lot of democrats were upset they didn't get to vote in a primary to replace Biden. Even though they may have liked Harris, they still felt cheated she was automatically the candidate to replace Biden.

I don't think liberals give enough of a shit about Palestine they'd stay home. While a contributing factor among independents outside of the party, within the party it was a combination of what I said above.

12
Angel [any] - 8mon

I can't with this fucking weird-ass dream I had.

Okay, so basically, in this dream, I was in a college class or something like that, and I haven't been in college for a bit. Weird.

And what I specifically remember is that there was this classmate of mine... he was a chubbier Black guy, looked a bit nerdy, wore glasses, and had somewhat spiky hair, and his name was "Lenward." I specifically remember that people called him that because his first name is Leonard and his middle name is Edward.

So, here's what's weird(er than that): Lenward would, out of absolutely nowhere, during lectures, just start beatboxing really well, and then he'd lay down the most fire bars imaginable, and then his desk just started levitating, and he floated around the classroom while doing it, and everyone, including the professor, was just cheering him on like, "GO, LENWARD! GO!"

And, when I wake up, I'm like, "What the fuck was that?"

18
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

I keep having a recurring dream of being sent back to high school to redo my diploma and all my other high school classmates are there, including these two twins I barely knew who insist on bullying me this time around. I usually wake myself up when I kick the wall in self-defense.

12
Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 8mon

And, when I wake up, I'm like, "What the fuck was that?"

Vibes. Just pure vibes (the good one; not the liberal one, ykwim?)

9
CommunistCuddlefish [she/her] - 8mon

Lenward sounds extremely cool. Is this a real former classmate? Because if you've got any way to contact him he may get a kick out of hearing this dream

5
Angel [any] - 8mon

No, my mind made the dude up

Deadass.

3
SevenSkalls [he/him] - 8mon

Got offered a candidacy for PSL. Guess this is actually happening, I'm doing the joining an organization thing. Immediately I've been invited to multiple events, like some class on modern events, and some event for the Bernie's tour to start converting progressive libs, to immigration "know your rights" classes and outreach.

It's weird timing with what's going on now, with Trump locking people up for thought crimes and such. They're deporting people who look like me, not even being legal is protecting people. I'm fully legal, but how long will that stop them? Or hell, they could lock up my family in retribution (not to doxx myself too much but we're not all from this country). I haven't even done anything yet, I'm not a leader to make an example of, but am already a little nervous. I know that's why they do their horrible stuff, to discourage people like me from joining together so we look out for ourselves instead of for each other.

Hope I don't come off as some fake leftist or coward, it's just thoughts I've had as the invites have rolled in. And I'm hoping getting these thoughts out will be like an exhale before rolling up my sleeves to finally do actual work (other than the noble art of posting, of course).

18
Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 8mon

You may doubt yersel but I'd argue going through with the PSL candidacy is worth it, if you can help some people there.

15
TraschcanOfIdeology [they/them, comrade/them] - 8mon

The recent thread with the reactionary person posting these 1000-word screeds to shit on indigenous peoples' knowledge had me really weirded out. I feel I started it all by saying "hey let's not use shaman as shorthand for quack, it's colonialist and racist to do so". And apparently this very simple request led to a mini-struggle session.

I stg white people show their asses in weirder and weirder ways these days.

(also sorry, I keep forgetting the poc mega exists until i feel i need to vent with fellow non-mayo comrades)

I think I’m taking a break for at least a week from political news. See way too many calls to invade El Salvador without even thinking about how this will affect people living in the area. I might even go to El Salvador myself because I do have family on my mother’s side living there. Just see the people and catch up with some familiar faces I haven’t seen in a bit.

I’ll be back and the rest of you stay strong, because God knows the whites are showing their asses on this issue.

11
anarchoilluminati [comrade/them] - 8mon

Are people on Hexbear saying to invade El Salvador or libs elsewhere?

Who are Americans (presumably) even calling on to invade El Salvador and liberate the prison? The US military? Sick joke.

9
thelastaxolotl [he/him] - 8mon

Its mostly libs in other social media calling for a US invasion

Yeah, but you'd only become one of those low tier nazis that show up from time to time to yap in nationalist speeches you get me? imagine you taking a nice day nap a sciesta if you will and the right wing extremists of the U.S. wake you up and tell you to yap about how "I'm a literal Nazi yet I indorse Kamala Harris" fucked up shit yk, when you work with NASA you can get high speed internet and play Red Dead Redemption 2.

5
homhom9000 [she/her] - 8mon

Ended up in twitter discourse, which is how I know my time there is ending.

I don't know if sukimom is arguing that patriarchy doesn't exist at all, and I don't think she's arguing it either, but she brings up very good points that specifically Black men are targeted by the state differently than other men and therefore do not have the same systematic patriarchal power. Where people are getting lost is the systematic ties to patriarchy, as opposed to individual. But these past few days on Twitter disgust me with these racist attacks on Black men as more violent, more sexist, evil, and therefore deserving of systematic oppression by the state. They even tried to bring in Indian men and Palestinian men as a gotcha that it's not all Black men but men.

I hate MRA but am starting to recognize where some of their concerns are valid, specifically for Black boys and men. Misogyny and patriarchy affect both genders and race differently. Misogyny says women are meek but misogyny for Black women say we're loud and powerful. Misogyny for men say they aren't caretakers and don't deserve diaper changing rooms in their bathroom, misogyny for Black men says anything they do wrong to a white woman deserves corporeal punishment.

Anyway, I don't remember where I was going with this. Just some thought as my worldview is developing. Men of color are targeted by the state too even if they're men, who historically have systematic power.

14

Anyway, I don't remember where I was going with this. Just some thought as my worldview is developing. Men of color are targeted by the state too even if they're men, who historically have systematic power.

And thus is an example of why intersectionality exists.

8
homhom9000 [she/her] - 8mon

My gut feeling is white feminist are stuck on being women, with a lowecase white, and therefore think because men have power, then Black men equally do as well, ignoring the Black part.

10
sweet_pecan [love/loves, they/them] - 8mon

womanist have been talking about this since the 70's. womanism was invented becuase of the way white feminist talking points were harmful to black men, boys, black families and queer people.

Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 8mon

Some of the most annoying people on reddit-logo made me realize why I dislike freiren so much now. With the new devil may cry netflix show out a lot of comparison is being made between the two shows with how the demons are protrayed. Freiren fans try not to be white supremacists challenge impossible catgirl-hiss holy shit I always had a lingering feeling why I didn't like the show but pushed passed it ::: spoiler spoiler end of dmc more or less makes a great comparison to the war in Iraq to the invasion of the demon world and the amount of chuds/frieren fans that go see this is how you do it is right on pissing me off :::

The same tired defense for frieren I see is "they aren't humans but animals that learned to mimic us to prey on us" is absolutely making me want to scream. Like that hasn't been used on us by white people for ages to justify all the violence against us.Even if you wanna say this a different show fine different logic it's apparent how anime fans just keep pushing for this to any group not fully "human" in their eyes. You even get people saying "sparda was one of the good ones" holy shit I'm angry

13
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

Frieren's author(s) I think got too far into the meta. They were trying to subvert tropes in other series where demons can be good/be redeemed by returning to classic "Our demons are just evil, actually."

No matter what your intentions, though, as soon as you make a "race" of ontologically evil, sentient beings, it will devolve into racist stereotypes. Tolkien fell into the same trap. I think the worst was Gary Gygax. He had colonialist, white supremacist, genocidal beliefs and he incorporated those beliefs into a game that became synonymous with fantasy. After decades, these tropes have spread, been subverted/remixed/parodied/etc. to the point people no longer recognize where these tropes originated. Unless you're among the groups targeted by these tropes. Then it's abundantly clear where these ideas came from.

Russians have been experiencing this with people calling them "orcs." Jews are constantly subjected to the blood libel, then people go further by claiming Jews are goblins/faeries/small evil kidnappers/etc. Black and brown people are depicted as being humans mixed with animals or monsters, which is used to dehumanize us as feral, pagan savages. Israelis straight-up call Palestinians devils, so we know the impact fantasy tropes have on supporting genocide.

Personally, I don't understand why it's so difficult for people to admit there's problematic content in the media they consume. Maybe it's conditioning from being a leftist? We're used to everything having reactionary, liberal bullshit, so it's easier for us. Chuds, on the other hand, don't want to expend the mental energy thinking about what they enjoy. They just want to consume.

11
vegeta1 [he/him] - 8mon

Well said. Its everywhere, hell look at the whole no kill rule in comics... That suddenly doesn't count when it comes to sentient aliens for some reason thonk then they ofcourse apply it again to aliens that look human but the others regardless of sentience? Nah fuck em.

Then the attack on titan for example where good lord..... There were some jewish folks who have a problem with it and I can see why.

The various media influenced by the guy you mentioned gygax who assign negative traits to certain races and we're just meant to accept it as how it is just move on. But in real life I've seen way to many people use the same critical thinking on real life groups and traits.

7
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 8mon

Great way to put it, I'm very aware of Gyagx and his rhetoric of killing 'evil' races when they're babies. It still happens among leftists I feel because they have just taken the story on face value and also don't wanna look deeper. As a show I quite like frieren up until that point, the animation and score is amazing but then it just hits a wall for me there. I finished the anime and felt eh about it. Honestly wasn't long since I finished dungeon meshi and made me appreciate it much more afterwards with how demons are portrayed there.

5
thelastaxolotl [he/him] - 8mon

Also they forget frieren is diffent compared to most anime/manga in that in general demons arent fully evil beings or in some cases misunderstood or even good, its in the west where in general demons are seen as fully evil beings (from christianity).

its a bunch of fascists watching their first anime and then claiming all anime its like it

6
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 8mon

Fr I think on some extend a lot of these chuds know but are fine doing dog whistles. A somewhat good subreddit I follow just is full with an automod screaming at people "freiren demons are animals don't look into it more stop ruining my fun" message. It's why I'm starting to despise freiren fans more and more, even got glossed over by some friends once before I watched the show on this topic. Part of me is curious now about where the manga goes tbh I know most anime fans don't watch the show or read the manga as is so maybe there's more to it.

3
thelastaxolotl [he/him] - 8mon

Lol no, its just the constant frieren demon discourse that chuds have keep going for like a year now

4
Wmill [they/them, fae/faer] - 8mon

Hope not but yes-honey-left if this thread does have eyes I'll say this, remember your comrades are sensitive to dog whistles and in this context freiren being pushed over DMC is a glaring one in terms of demons. Arguing past it of how freiren is a subversion of demon meta ignores the current and historical context how media is dominated by white perspectives and the othering of different races (I'm aware freiren is made by Japanese authors but it borrows deeply from Tolkien and Gygax ( (also you made the point better just refreshing) ) so when I see comrades not getting it it is disheartening. A lot of people loudly arguing demons in frieren aren't people remind me too much of liberals arguing how clearly that was a Roman salute or he was giving his heart to the audience. Also beanis hope you don't mind me writing past you like this, don't quite feel like going into that thread and debating catgirl-sorry

3
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

don't quite feel like going into that thread and debating

Me neither lol. Just thought it was odd that thread showed up right after it was brought up here (probably just a coincidence since DMC just came out and is popular).

::: spoiler gay rambling I'm so nervous...

For those of you who don't know, I've been chatting with this really wonderful woman who has made me feel a level of love I've never felt before.

Fuck.

And... things are going well? We have a lot in common.

I eventually got to a point where I decided that I'd rather be single than settle. I require any person I date to have these 5 things in common with me, and due to statistical rarity, my mind's gotten hella comfortable with the, "It's alright if I just end up being single for the rest of my life" way of thinking. I've dated people who are only 4/5, and even that causes problems:

  1. Sober/Straight Edge
  2. Vegan
  3. Radical Leftist (Preferably Marxist-Leninist)
  4. Non-Religious (Preferably Antitheist)
  5. Childfree

And she checks all 5 boxes, she's super friendly, she's incredibly beautiful, and I've been really enjoying my time talking to her. I just get hella nervous because the thought of fumbling the bag with someone like this is scary, especially since my heart is calling her name every second of the day.

She is super vocal about Palestine especially, Sudan and DR Congo too, and is a genuinely based communist (have to clarify because I've gotten my hopes lifted by liberals pretending to be leftists). She also has articulated this excellent point that I've been saying for a long time (but myopic people cannot get it): you can be an antitheist without being Islamophobic... and I surprisingly don't see people addressing stuff like this often.

She was raised in a strictly Orthodox Jewish and Zionist household, and since she is a bisexual woman, a communist, and an antitheist like me, she's had many conflicts with her family due to religious/political discrepencies.

She's so sweet and gentle, and though I cannot speak with 1000% certainty, I feel like a lot of our conversation is pointing in the direction that we may be able to be... something? I'm not getting my hopes up too much, but I feel hella fragile considering how much I just want to make it work.

And yes, I can definitively confirm that she is single.

And there are some signs that she may be some degree of reciprocal:

  1. Her openness to continue chatting casually

Mind you, I first started with this woman by reaching out, apologizing to her, and offering her some kind words regarding some very toxic things that my now former online friend said to her. At first, I was just gonna leave it at that, but it just naturally became more than that... we began talking... like normally.

  1. Her interest in my life beyond veganism, communism, etc.

She really loved my music, to the point where she wanted downloads so she could work out to it. She was interested in listening to me talk about a struggling job situation and even providing practical advice. She also is super empathetic whenever I bring up struggles, but of course, we mostly keep the chat positive.

  1. Her willingness to discuss the potential of us meeting in person so early into us chatting. (She lives in the same country and time zone but a bit further off. I don't mind this. If anything, it's somewhat of a plus because I want to live this shitty reactionary state anyway.)

Literally 3 days into us talking, she said, "If you're ever near me, come hang out! We can even protest together!"

Why did she say this? All because I simply complimented her by saying, "You're such a vibe!" It wasn't a simple "Oh, thank you, that's so nice!" Literally, she jumped to the prospect of us being in close proximity that quick.

  1. Her concern about my safety and sense of community.

When I tell her about my desire to do more pro-Palestine activism, she really lets me know to be safe. She actively went out of her way to ask if I have community or if I know any other vegans/communists where I am to side with me with animal rights/leftist activism, which unfortunately isn't the case in my current situation.

  1. Symbolic reactions

Somewhat generous use of heart emojis, she loved that I sent her a picture of this symbol right-arrow heart-sickle, and she has even sent me the neat little 💗 on some occasions. Obviously, none of this is definitely in the direction of, "Yeah, you got her all rizzed up," but it's favorable I guess.

  1. Saying my kind words "mean a lot" to her.

This shows that she's not just taking it as a "basic meaningless compliment in a vacuum." She recognizes the weight of what the words mean and who they're coming from, and I can tell she genuinely means it.

  1. VIBES.

And the last reason I'd give is vibes. She vibes with me. She's realizing we have a lot in common. She's getting that I understand her in ways that other people might not. The ENERGY I get has the potential to be romantic for sure.

I usually am quite confident with my rizz, but to be honest with you, my rizz is in a situation equivalent to Ben Shapiro debating someone who's not an unaware college student... for easy targets, my rizz can handle these situations with no problem, but for someone way more impactful? Good luck, buddy!

Wish me luck, all... this is really just me yapping. :::

Been applying for 10 jobs a day... taking a break this weekend and probably just gonna start doing 3 a day but try very hard to look for real gems.

I try not to do the "blind application just to reach a quota" thing, and when you have that mentality for 10 job applications a day, you will lose it, especially since I already have seen that even the best applications I give have proven themselves to not be so effective.

I'm tired as shit.

9
Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

Job hunting sucks. It's so demoralizing when you apply everywhere for anything and never get any replies. Nepotism and cronyism are also rampant, so of course failkids are in charge of everything.

I might ask this more than once, but how close are we to it being time to urgently get the fuck out of the US as, let's say, politically-oriented non-White people?

This shit is all moving really quickly. The President has no power, by the way. Biden could do nothing to prevent this.

9
Lemmygradwontallowme [he/him, comrade/them] - 8mon

Idk. I'd suppose any time is the time. The best time was before, but the second best is now to flee the U.S. I wouldn't blame anyone for doing it.

I am just suffering all day every day. People say heartbreak gets better but I'm approaching half a year of my partner having a mental breakdown and ditching me and I feel worse the longer it goes. I'm just sick of suffering. That's all.

Talked with someone on a dating app but wouldn't you know it, another white liberal who thinks they're leftist ------> instant loss of interest on my part. But maybe it's for the best because I'm not really interested. Idk why I bother.

If I may ask, you know West Africa, with the AES (Association Des Etats du Sahel), right?

Idk, but Algeria, for some reason, had a spat with them

Breakdown of relations between Algeria and the AES:

https://africanstream.media/alliance-of-sahel-states-withdraw-ambassadors-from-algeria/

https://africanstream.media/algeria-bans-mali-flights/

Timeline:

  1. Algeria shoots down a Malian drone.

  2. Algeria and Mali dispute over whether the drone was in Algerian or Malian airspace before it got shot down.

  3. Mali accuses Algeria of supporting separatists in northern Mali.

  4. The AES withdraws their ambassadors from Algeria.

  5. Algeria bans flights from Mali

What's your thoughts?

The relations between Algeria and the new Mali government weren't good for a while, sometime ago the new government broke the ceasefire deal between them and the Azawad that Algeria was involved in, Algeria did something that they didn't like and they cut relations then it went back after a few months, the two countries aren't communicating militarily because there was an ambush next to the border that lead to Malian and Wagner soldiers losing to Azawad forces, Algeria denies supporting terrorism or the Azawad and continues to call for a united Mali, but it's talks. A few weeks ago a Spanish tourist got kidnapped by IS sympathizers and was saved by the Azawad and returned to Algeria. These incidents likely made the Mali government not trust Algeria, and not communicate with it, so it didn't tell Algeria "Hey we're going to fly a drone close to your borders" because they might suspect that Algeria supports the separatists and will warn them beforehand, so when the Algerian AA in the south saw an armed flying object getting close to the border without warning and they shot it down. The drone type is a Bayrkatar Akinci which costs like 30 million dollars, both sides edit posting and calling each other puppet regimes and terrorist supporters.

Algeria has half a million Touaregs and unknown number of Al-Qaeda sympathizers and it doesn't want to anger them by supporting a side in the conflict in Mali.

What I think will happen: Nothing, Mali knows that it can't fight Algeria, Algeria doesn't want to deal with the aftermath of fighting Mali (dealing with insurgents and refugees).

Mexican bakery that opens at 5 am is the cornerstone of "I need lunch now before work" in my town. Mom always feels guilty when she sends me off but I love it at that time, it's so chill there. Mostly gonna get bollios tomorrow but they got a small section for more grocery things in the corner. I just respect the hell out of that place, other places are nice but don't open so early catgirl-peace

That's good, Comrade.

Seen better times but hanging in there, honestly.

Well, I'm okay but we found out today someone in my family is not doing well in terms of health but I'm hoping they make a full recovery. Just trying to keep up my spirits with memes but feeling down. I have some time off next week though so looking forward to that, will be helping them out but can also rest, read, watch some movies or something to take my mind off stuff. Anyway, didn't mean to vent, just trying to keep busy and wanted to reply to your greetings!

No worry. How are you is there for a reason. Yeah, tbh, I should rlly strengthen my grasp on theory (it is kinda null).

Yeah, I felt and feel the same way. I just finished all the deep tracks in the Lenin Anthology, so I've read it cover to cover now. Those little articles and things are actually really helpful in clarifying points, in addition to major works of course. I'm going to start going through some Stalin now.

in uni I am doing a project where a robot follows a line and finishes a circuit. It's working pretty well so far.

Belly_Beanis [he/him] - 8mon

I got to do this my senior year of high school, except we used that Lego robotics thing (this was back in the 2000s). The hardest part was learning to use C to program the damn thing.

Our robot got 3rd. at some competition. We were beaten by robots that had more sensors. Ours only had three or four. The others had eight or some bullshit.

Decided to try to somewhat properly mix an older song of mine. I'm decently satisfied with the result.

This is also an updated version... when I originally shared it, some of these features weren't there. For example, it didn't originally have the polymeter at the end. It starts with the bass and drums in 5/4 + the guitars in 4/4, and then halfway through the bass in 5/4 and the drums + the guitars in 4/4.

I've seen all manner of corruption and absolute shithousery on this continent that you would not believe. Failsons, embezzlement and nepotism you name it. There is no underestimating just how badly it fucks over the people. But good lord the recent fuckery in the white house somehow surpasses it. This has gotta be sabotage. If America weren't the richest nation in history yikes-2

I still have not checked my messages but due to my own fucked up settings, I know that she has responded.

I can definitively confirm both that

  1. She's seen it.
  2. She has not left me on read

All because I left notifications on (by mistake, though, I thought they were off).

I don't know when I'll read it. I am still nervous as shit.

She liked a comment I made on her YouTube video this morning, so at least that shows she is still willing to engage.
