Ive had an IUD thats at the end of its life and it got rid of my extremely dysfunctional periods which has been a godsend. For the past couple of months, though, they've come back very lightly and I've noticed that I get really extreme depression and suicidal ideation right before it starts. It's so debilitating; idk if I have PMDD or what but I really hope that a new IUD makes it all go away. been enjoying Avowed, my biggest complaint is basically the exact same complaint I have about every single open world western RPG which is that my character just doesn't feel unique enough and the world doesn't feel simulated enough. Like I feel like every game in the genre since Daggerfall has been walking down a path of streamlining gameplay and tightening the writing, and that's fine, but there's this totally unexplored territory where they could go the entire opposite direction and make a game where you are a smol bean in a big simulated fantasyverse.

The only counter examples that come to mind are Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode, Caves of Qud, uhhhh that one game that's like a simulation of being in middle ages Scandinavia...

It's been very rewarding to read submissions, and I spent a long time editing this work. It's rather dark, ::: spoiler cw it's about a man who wants to demonstrate the purity of his own suicide by building and using a guillotine with a chainsaw ::: but the prose is fun and propulsive. I've got other books in the pipeline too, so we'll see how this venture plays out. Not expecting to make any money, as profit and art are an unholy fusion, but I hope I can sell at cost to keep up our funds for more books in the future.

I was thinking about why American patriotic nationalistic propogantistic films can't be sincere and can't risk being cringe. Compare Top Gun vs RRR or Wolf Warrior II. Part of it has gotta be that America doesn't have a ton to be proud about and part of the myth making in RRR and Wolf Warrior II is the struggle against western imperialism lol.

I think you could have a successful action film in that genre but it's have to center people in the Concrete Universal. Like Django, that's a dope film and it is not afraid of sincerity or seeming silly and it has great moral clarity. You could make a movie about John Brown or the Black Panthers - Hollywood tried but American cultural institutions are somewhat unwilling to let that moral certainty stand for itself and also hedge their bets and don't aim for maximal sincerity, so you get weak TV series and films like The Good Lord Bird and Judas and The Black Messiah

Ironically, I think an exploitation genre film would work great. Not enough oversight from the big institutions, it's cheap and schlock so you can be as sincere as you want. I'm thinking of what about an American version of Monkey Man, the underdog rising up against corrupt institutions within the imperial metropole

Doing food costing at work, which is above my pay grade and not my job as a cook, but 1) I don't do my job as a line cook and have been managing my manager during rushes and 2) I get access to the exact amount thst the owner is profiting off me and the math to prove it, which is great raise ammo when combined with me doing my boss's job and 3) it's actually pretty fun, filling out spreadsheets and doing math for work is kinda relaxing when you're usually cooking a lot of food really fast and yelling across rooms to tell people what to make and when. It's also hilarious how not prepared anything was before the chef got a one month deadline to do this, which is part of getting asked to help, the other is me and the other guy working on it know how to use excel and how to gather and process data cause he's got a geology degree and I'm just really into knowing stuff and sometimes that requires doing some amateur science. So I've been going back through what invoices we have, finding the weight and cost of items, converting thar weight to grams and then getting a cost per gram which can be thousandth of a cent. After that we get to go through the recipe book and use the data we gathered to figure out the cost of prep batches and then take that and weigh out food while.we make it to order to establish a rough cost per item. The owner gave us a fucking month. We're also supposed to do the rest of the job at the same time. I don't give any fucks about the deadline, not my sword to fall on if missed so I get to just kinda gather Intel at my leisure, my job is making food so if there's food to make I gotta do that, but as far as slow time activities go, it beats the hell out of cleaning or restocking.

I really need to get in on the ground floor of a place and be a head chef. I just don't wanna be management, but also I'm.doing that job now for less money and kinda like that people do what I say at work cause they trust me and not cause they have to. Aldo I'd have to deal directly with the owner and keep them happy and I would refuse to work to their benefit and not the workers, take your skim you fucking slimeball, I can't make it a co-op but there's no way I could be a manager for long, I hate owners so much. It's a conundrum, if anyone had money and wants to open a restaurant I'll relocate and have 2 other people that would as well and between us you'd have the best and cheapest vegan food in whatever city you're in. It sucks being at the point where being good at food has hit it's limit and I'd have to be some middle manager to move up

Then it made up and API call, and every form of correction I gave it it would be like “oh my bad I made up an api call, here is a working version” and it would either use the same made up api call or make up a new api call.

I’ve worked with people in my field who somehow got to more senior roles than me just copying and pasting stackexchange threads and see completely lost in peer programming sessions when one of them doesn’t work. Been playing a lot of Gates of Hell: Cheesefront on the dynamic campaign recently, as the Soviets, obvs. Listen, I love soviet tanks, beauties all, but...

If I could go back in time, I'd go and beg on my hands and knees for the soviets to add electric horizontal turret drives for more of their tanks! The agony of having a turret with a turn time of a gajillion years makes my nerves cry out in pain! Please, stop relying on having a strong proletarian to jork a crankwheel at the speed of sound and just use the electricity from the engine instead to make the turret go spinny! I know you have some battery in there or else the headlights wouldn't work then, huh? Even if the dinky shells from a PzKw.III bounce straight of the glorious rolled steel of the KV-85, that doesn't ease my conscience as much as being able to aim and shoot the damn thing within a reasonable timeframe! That's the only thing I'll completely hand to the Jerries, they had electric horizontal turret drives from the word go...

That scene in the fellowship movie where saruman stands on his roof and yells at a mountain to fuck up the fellowship is hilarious. In the book the weather was just bad. It was attributed to the mointain itself being pissed off, but that could go in the superstition direction.

It's been months since I've used any imitation stock or veggie bullion cubes and damn if I haven't adjusted greatly. Just been a cost cutting method but like I've upped my spice game adjusted my tastes and feeling pretty good about it all. I do miss the simplicity but eh I'm reluctant to go back not to mention I barely remember the flavor most of the time.
