someone irl said some shit about "ohhh i don't get why people transition, can't they just be like feminine guys? feminine guys are cute!" and the i remembered the original version of this meme. there aren't roving gangs of trans people trying to convert people, that's the most reactionary stance available. in fact it's very much the opposite! pretty much every facet of society would like me to not transition!

At the very least some polite canvassing. The Jehova's Witnesses do it, and I'd argue trans people have a better sales pitch. A knock on the door "Hi there, we don't mean to bother you, we just wanted to leave you with some literature and a pair of striped knee socks. Feel free to reach out anytime."

Fun fact: You can dissolve small amounts of HRT in water (about 1.8 mg estradiol per 500 mL and 11.7 mg testosterone per 500 mL)
We need companies to start making drinks with HRT in them so we can use it in the canvassing… 🥺
(Both dissolve way better in alcohol but that’s besides the point.)

You're so real for this. It's why this whole discourse annoys me so much. Like I get it it's mildly annoying when cis guys have trans people in their twitter mentions telling them to transition already, but jesus christ the opposite is way more prevalent but now Kevin's crying about the mean trans people invalidating his identity so now I have to play therapist, teacher, and representative.
Gonna be that annoying trans girl for a minute and nevada post rq

I want to use this quote so badly when this topic comes up but but then i gotta explain more and i almost never have the energy for that.
Like, if you’re going to decide on your gender for the rest of your life based on what a couple idiots on the Internet tell you, you probably have problems beyond a false diagnosis of transs*xuality. Plus, nobody said you had to commit the rest of your life to anything.

Yeah if anything hetero cis people "push" transness onto people just as much, if not even moreso
I've noticed that whenever a feminine guy appears "normies" will just call them the T slur or "gay"

Awoo [she/her] - 2.5yr
I'm not going to pressure them but I am going to be pretty straight with them about their egg-like behaviour because not doing so would be irresponsible. A proportion of them will definitely go on to have the realisation that they are actually trans. They aren't being "pressured" to become trans, they just always were trans and finally realise it eventually.
The ones that aren't? Very little harm is done to them by it, and any small amount that does occur is an acceptable lesser-evil outcome to me compared to the deaths of trans people. There aren't any femboys dying because someone called them an egg.
25
RedQuestionAsker2 [he/him, she/her] - 2.5yr
As a long time gender questioner and someone who often presents femme, I found it uncomfortable when transfemmes would tell me that I'm actually trans but in denial.
However, after some reflection, I realized that never actually happened. Nobody called me an egg or tried to convince me I was trans. What did happen was transfemmes would say things like "that's how I felt when I was an egg," which is a completely different statement. I would then interpret that kind of statement as an argument towards me because the idea of having something in common with an egg made me uncomfortable.
This is all to say that I think this situation isn't caused by trans people trying to "convert" people but rather by people in the weird gender zone being uncomfortable with what they're going through at the moment. If you get called an egg and you're sure you're not, then it's really not a big deal. However, if you get called an egg and you find that you're having a strong reaction to it, then I think you should consider trans experiences as a gift rather than an assault or argument.
20
Cromalin [she/her] - 2.5yr
yeah for sure. i sometimes see people straight up say "i believe you are an egg and i will not be dissuaded" but that's incredibly rare. mostly it's "wow, that sounds like how i used to/still feel"
The year is 2026, two years into the second Biden presidency. The last cishet man fends off a jeering crowd shortly before they forcibly inject him with the big gay.

the joke is that it's an edit of a meme that said "feminine men don't have to be trans and you shouldn't pressure them" that gets used to shut down transfem people whenever they say "hey this resonates with my experience" about both real people and fictional characters, and really feels like a woke way of accusing trans people of trying to convert vulnerable people, which is obviously a whole thing

AOCapitulator [they/them, she/her] - 2.5yr

Shame the take in the image as presented is unironically present in some trans groups — people calling Finnster an egg when he’s stated he is cis
16
Cromalin [she/her] - 2.5yr
i'm sure it's annoying, but like. cis people can deal with it, they'll be fine
like, i wish it wasn't happening, but i'd rather a few cis people be made kind of uncomfortable than trans people not know it's an option where they could have a community, especially when there's so much pressure going the other direction at all times
19
odmroz [he/him] - 2.5yr
I think it's well-intentioned, but I think it can be anxiety-inducing and alienating to people who are actually, actually, actually feeling conflicted about their gender. Like not in a "god I wish I was/ know I am a woman and I just need to give myself permission to transition" way but in an "x, y or z trauma has caused me to feel numb to the concept of gender and my own desires, and I genuinely don't know" type of way. I get people transitioning, becoming happier, and wanting that for other people, but not everyone is the same.
12
odmroz [he/him] - 2.5yr
Basically I want everyone to just do what's going to feel most right for them. Trans or cis, we all relate to gender in some type of way. Trans ppl don't inherently own the concept of having a gender and not wanting it invalidated. I'm a trans guy and a little fruity with it and I would NOT appreciate someone insisting I'm a woman bc of something about me that seems feminine. I imagine it's the same for cis guys who are kinda fruity.
12
Cromalin [she/her] - 2.5yr
i get that but you understand that this doesn't happen to cis people in the same way it does to us? i can be as feminine as i want and i will always have more people telling me i should be a man. if you were like, some hyper masculine dude there would still be people telling you to be a woman. i'm sure it's annoying when some rando on twitter says to a cis guy that he should transition, but it does not represent a meaningful pressure, and the fact that i see people acting as if it does feels ridiculous
i say this as someone who might not have realized she was trans if there weren't people publicly saying "if you feel like x y and z you might be a trans woman." i don't think it's good to deny people's stated identities but i think it's important to communicate that people can just not be cis if they don't want to

AOCapitulator [they/them, she/her] - 2.5yr
its like how theres no systemic backing to being racist towards white people, so while still an unhelpful thing to do, does far less harm than the reverse would do given systemic reinforcement
11
Cromalin [she/her] - 2.5yr
yeah the take that this post is originally riffing on is very much the cis equivalent of complaining about reverse racism
10
odmroz [he/him] - 2.5yr
I agree most people are fairly durable and obviously being trans is the oppressed position. I kind of love that someone speaking up helped you and also furthered the trans agenda. I don't even necessarily think you should do anything differently, you just got me thinking.
I think it's just personal for me, that panicky feeling of uncertainty that makes me want to kick whoever's trying to say some shit and be like YOU DON'T FUCKIN KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE FOR ME BOZO.
And that's been the case whether it was high school me being accused of lesbianism or me now being called a f#$.
I regard someone who's questioning as sort of a Schrodinger's Trans Person. The choice they end up making has us sorting them into either "cis and therefore not my problem" or "trans my beloved." And the issue is that it's just the same person who's fucking suffering and doesn't want to fuck this up. Yeah it's not a permanent decision but people lose family, friends, housing over this stuff. Anyway I'm just risk-averse and hate seeing people in pain thanks for listening to my TED Talk I appreciate u.
