Transgender mod teams on reddit are literally the worst.

I just got a message from a trans friend saying they got banned from /r/trans for trying to post the feinberg image I made some time ago. They messaged me, saying they were crying, because they got banned from 4 trans subreddits because of it and they were one of their only places of support and was so shocked that it was against the rules. They were already harassed off reddit once. I mentioned they could come here.

Its so fucking crazy that literally the 2-5% of trans people, liberals, were able to get ahold of the trans subreddits and hold our communities hostage, fragment them, and purge any trans people that want to fight and advocate for third world trans people who are literally having bombs dropped on their heads. I spend half my time on here going through ban logs to make sure as many trans people get to be here as possible and are dealt with leniently because of shit like this.

reddit-logo ruins everything

thank you for showing me this site, it seems more welcoming. i am a lurker by nature at this point but i really appreciate you noticing my removal

you have now signed up for nonbinary hijra facts.

did you know bahuchara is a hindu transgender god that rides a giant rooster? this leads to a lot of innuendo.

did you know that transgender people have their own town in India that transgender people seeking help flock to? did you also know that the temple to bahuchara in this town is state funded, very beautiful, and houses those trans people? i recommend visiting, the people there are great! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becharaji

Hey, welcome and ::: spoiler bunch of questions, you don't need to answer them, really, it's just bugging the hell out of me I hope this is not demanding something impossible/unduly strenuous, but I have been told that Hijra are so distinct from trans people that you can't really compare them and that calling Hijra transgender is gender colonialism. Would you say this is accurate? If so, how (not)? And (how) do the various western transgender groups interact with them? Are there grounds for a common perspective? Is it too different? Does it matter at all? ::: Thank you so much

I heard that big gaudy feathers are common metaphors for erections in Hindu mythology. (This was from a very white philosophy adjunct professor who had spent a lot of time studying Hindu texts, so maybe right but probably wrong)

Just putting it out in the void, are there any good online spaces beyond Hexbear for trans folks? I’m so done with reddit-logo. And beyond discord servers out there for transfem voice training, it’s frustrating.

45
kristina [she/her] - 2.7yr

im not super aware of discord servers, never been my cup of tea. im more into front facing stuff.

susans place has a forum, and i know of some chinese trans sites on baidu tieba that are largely spammed by chasers, but outside of reddit, raddle.me and certain twitter, facebook pages, and tumblr hashtags... the pickings are slim. I want to try to drag people here so I look for removals on trans subreddits and try to bring people that are cool here

37
bahuchara [they/them] - 2.7yr

a lot of transgender people in india, if they are online, are on obscure facebook pages. this is because transgender people are generally poor and the only internet cheap phones in india can access is facebook because it is subsidized. i recommend checking there for indian stuff. but i do not like showing to everyone i am trans on facebook, this led me to look elsewhere.

it is unfortunately better to go to temples to bahuchara or similar deities for support in india.

43
kristina [she/her] - 2.7yr

I really hate how corporations have a giant monopoly on transgender spaces on the internet. Its incredibly frustrating and like you said, they make it easy to dox vulnerable trans people. We need to figure out how to jailbreak their phones and get hexbear on them lmao

42
aaaaaaadjsf [he/him, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

Yeah similar in South Africa with LGBT stuff and certain social media sites being subsidised. It's all obscure Facebook groups or Twitter.

i have yet to find a single one.

Orannis62 [ze/hir] - 2.7yr

Tumblr's not bad if you curate your feed decently. It can get a little transfem vs transmasc at times but it's largely where I hang out online besides here

15
Cromalin [she/her] - 2.7yr

it's not hard to only follow a bunch of transgender communists on tumblr. now, the discourse can get bad sometimes but still pretty good if you can get past the site itself

dragongloss [she/her, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

What do you expect from a website that installs new moderators when they don't do Reddit's bidding?

36
kristina [she/her] - 2.7yr

tbf i would expect hexbear to do that if the mods didnt uphold our regular purging of transphobes. its just reddit does that in reverse, they seem to have found some of the worst people to mod the trans subreddits. all the rules seem to be designed to fracture the trans community and prohibit discussion of topics relating to trans people in the global south simply because its 'controversial'

which is just... bizarre. any other subreddit would say the same about trans existence

34
AssortedBiscuits [they/them] - 2.7yr

they seem to have found some of the worst people to mod the trans subreddits.

Do you think this is intentionally done?

11
kristina [she/her] - 2.7yr

No, im pretty sure it's just first come first serve. So it's a coin flip on whoever grabs a subreddit. There's also ego people that collect subreddits by weaseling their way into mod teams

7
Awoo [she/her] - 2.7yr

Uhhh what's against the rules about it?

Isn't Leslie responsible for a good portion of the language we use in the trans struggle today?

30
Catradora_Stalinism [she/her, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

Trying to inform a liberal about context and history is like explaining how to crochet to a rock

29
Awoo [she/her] - 2.7yr

She's literally on the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor inside the Stonewall Inn ffs. Gender Studies wouldn't exist without her nor half the language we use for gender identity.

24
Catradora_Stalinism [she/her, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

the majority of non marxist trans people I know know nothing of the Stonewall riots, monument, or Inn

liberals are genuinely completely allergic to learning history

28
Awoo [she/her] - 2.7yr

I'm boggled by what these people think is actually involved in achieving anything. Erasing someone like Leslie would have a considerable negative effect on the output of future activists for trans people. Where do they think radicals come from? The democrat party? lol

21
Catradora_Stalinism [she/her, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

they don't know how it got there, they just know it is. The past is discarded in a fit of juvenile idiocy. Liberals do not think, they assume. When the fabric of these assumptions are challenged in any way, they react with pure hostility. This is unfortunately still true with some of our fellow transgenders. There will always be those too blind to see beyond the veil.

But seriously I guess i'm just elitist for knowing history or something but these people know fuck all about their past and history besides shit learned from social media chatting and high school. They then will defend such shoddy information with their lives because they are both naive and spoiled.

If GenZ is radical, then I am a fucking bucket. This generation is milquetoast social democratic losers that would have made Kautsky look like Lenin.

18
aaaaaaadjsf [he/him, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

Wow. My friend went to some small private university in South Africa here and even the LGBT group/club there posted about stonewall, to the ire of all the straights.

14
kristina [she/her] - 2.7yr

They said it was controversial, that's pretty much it and banned the person I invited here

And yes, it's literally insane

27
Timberknave - 2.7yr

I have indirect connections to an infamous POS liberal that is dominant in these sections of the Hitlerite Forums aka reddit-logo and it's hard to not descend into fits of rage bc you know how deeply rotten they are from all the people around them recounting their previous lives and you can't tell without getting their psycho fans on your and your friends' arse and being silenced/smeared by them

26
aaaaaaadjsf [he/him, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

Reddit LGBT communities are trash and should be avoided like the plague. I'm glad your trans friend has you to talk to in real life.

25
die_livster @lemmygrad.ml - 2.7yr

when i first started questioning i was browsing trans sub reddits and i realised the (entirely cis) /r/transgenderuk mod team had banned any and all discussion of diy because of one negative article in the daily mail 😭😭😭😭😭

25
kristina [she/her] - 2.7yr

fuck them, siding with transphobes just means you have the blood of your sisters on your hands

also im pretty sure theyre not cis, their flairs mention srs

10
die_livster @lemmygrad.ml - 2.7yr

this was 5 or 6 years ago so i could easily be misremembering or they switched up mods

9
Catradora_Stalinism [she/her, comrade/them] - 2.7yr

liberals are traitors, they've thrown the entire community under the bus for their ideological nonsense. I don't understand how they can discard us for actually caring about our rights and places in society and then try to simp for fuckin democrats. Its not right at all. Although I do no think they deserve the wall treatment, sadly I think they'll learn on their own in time.

18
MuuuaadDib @lemm.ee - 2.7yr

Interesting, so has Israeli forces taken over Reddit? Would make for an interesting article for an investigative journalist to look into.

4
die_livster @lemmygrad.ml - 2.7yr

the people who moderate content at the highest levels in companies such as reddit, tiktok, facebook, etc all have western intelligence backgrounds. it was very noticeable on tiktok when they first started bringing them on board the quality of content nosedived, i stopped using so i don't know if it ever got better

15
Awoo [she/her] - 2.7yr

The problem generally speaking is that liberals run a lot of reddit and there's a certain type of liberal in mod teams that always wants the space to rigidly adhere to the liberal party line. That line at the moment is pro-zionism. So the outcome is this.

There is definitely some discussion in backrooms about whether it's worthwhile for radicals to split from liberals when they do this. It's an attitude of "the wrong kind of trans". Support and protection in a community shouldn't require you adhere to a certain political position on non-trans issues. Support and protection should be unconditional.

12
MuuuaadDib @lemm.ee - 2.7yr

Never have I met a Pro-Putin, Zionism, Nazism, etc. liberal, it's really odd to me to hear that. Like asking for colors that make no sense but people just nod like that it's sensible like kale-white, dirt-blue, etc.

1
Awoo [she/her] - 2.7yr

You've never met a pro-zionism liberal? It seems to be the norm among them.

I think it's important to differentiate here between non-participant liberals and the participant liberals. Or "the masses" and the active political agitators. The liberals who are ideologically active true believers participating to push liberalism are all pro-zionist barring none. The general masses I agree are mostly indifferent or anti zionist.

Personally think it's probably beneficial to the left to split from liberals on all things. It's getting harder and harder to be in any form of non-ideological coalition with them, they can't help but bat for imperialism. In an issue like this it's explicitly harmful to the marginalised people they're supposed to be holding as priority as well. My take is that the community needs a suite of explicitly leftist communities. These will reinvigorate some radicalism in the lgbt community that has dissipated due to liberal assimilation. The biggest issue with assimilation has been that it creates complacency and reduces the number of radicals as people see governments running pride parades and companies supporting lgbt people they see it as "won". These companies and governments take over the role of organising and then when they stop doing it there are no organisers, because they were assimilated. The community then has no skilled radicals to continue it themselves so the lgbt community takes Ls on many fronts with no skilled organisers doing pushback.

Keep in mind I'm in Britain so my perspective is heavily coloured by my locality. I don't know if things are drastically different in the states, I get the impression that they are a bit different in some ways.

4
MuuuaadDib @lemm.ee - 2.7yr

Ahh, ok that is why, liberal in the US is a different term.
