StudSpud The Starchy - 1w

I didn't get the job.

I just want to fucking disappear, I'm so fucking tired. I just want a chance.

12
tone212_ - 1w

That sucks! The way you speak about Mickey and pets in general, I can't think of anyone better suited for the role. What more could they possibly want?! I know it might not help much to hear this now, but please keep trying and don't give up.

7
Bottom_racer - 1w

Oh bugger sorry to hear that.

When you get the gig you'll be great at it.

5
Force_majeure1234 - 1w

I'm sorry ๐Ÿ˜”

5
imoldgreeeg - 1w

Oh I'm so sorry. Your break will come I promise

5
Seagoon_ - 1w

try volunteering at lort smith and rspca so they know you and you'll know when there are job openings

so many hugs

5
Seagoon_ - 1w

oh no

5
Eagle - 1w

Your chance will come, lovely. It will. And when it does you are going to be incredible at it.

You can hide away and lick your wounds for a day or two but we're not going to let you wallow. โค๏ธ

3
Catfish - 1w

Dammit!

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

I'm really really sorry to hear that Spud. I mean this when I say it: it's their loss โค๏ธ

3
LowExperience2368 - 1w

Sorry Spud :(( I know something good is coming your way so don't lose hope!!

3
melbaboutown - 1w

Iโ€™m sorry. ๐Ÿ˜” They missed out.

3
SpinMeRound - 1w

I'm so sorry, that's so awful. Did they give you any feedback? We are all still cheering for you!! This one wasn't for you, but there's still a whole lot out there!!

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 1w

Just that it was a really hard decision, and she struggled a lot with deciding. Idk if that makes me feel better or worse, that I was so close

Thank you ๐Ÿ’œ I appreciate that so much ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

2
tombruzzo - 1w

That sucks so much, I'm sorry to hear it

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

I got a win today. I found out that there was illegal reselling of one of our vendors products online at multiple legitimate retailers.

Emailed director. Director rang vendor slt. Vendor product manager is going to contact the major retailers to take down the ads asap.

Simon gets a fucking victory.

11
tone212_ - 1w

Simon for employee of the month ๐Ÿ™Œ

5
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

Simon really wants some stuff to do before he goes stir crazy lol

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

So who else leaves the air con on for their cat on hot days when they're at work?

Please validate my sanity lol

10
Seagoon_ - 1w

yes

and the heater in winter too

6
Eagle - 1w

On a timer, yes.

4
melbaboutown - 1w

Yes, I leave Melbcat with a wrapped hot water bottle on cold days and would either have cooling run well before (or left on low if Iโ€™ll be out for long) on a hot day.

Iโ€™d worry about overheating at her age and you want your pet to be comfortable.

2
StudSpud The Starchy - 1w

I spent all afternoon and evening weeping lol, I think I have more tears to weep. Soon enough I'll get back on the job hunting wagon and send out apps, but for now I shall wallow and distract myself with games.

Thank you for your kind words and support, I really appreciate every single one of you ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

10
LowExperience2368 - 1w

Oh honey :( go wallow, but don't wallow for too long! You've got this!!! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

4
Seagoon_ - 1w

so many hugs

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 1w

May the cattery call me with good news this afternoon ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’œ

I really need a little win

Edit: also playing Whamageddon this year. Added Mariah as well, so we have to avoid the original versions of Last Christmas and All I Want For Christmas, respectively.

My little dog has been the bestest dog this past week. Considering he gets excited and starts jumping on us if he hasn't seen us in 5 minutes he's been remarkably calm and delicate with the man.

YL came home from holidays last night and he was happy to see her. I had to tell her to keep the excitables down. It's like he's gone into senior mode (the dog that is).

Fuck I love a good mango.

Taking a mental health day today, first unplanned leave in two months or so. I earned it! Going to get out and enjoy the sunshine and warmth. Will go buy a few things and get lunch in the city

8

Ripper of a day for it, the sunshine is feeling extra glorious this morning! Enjoy!

3
anotherspringchicken - 1w

Oh, me too! No plans as yet, will see what the teenager wants to do

3
Force_majeure1234 - 1w

I'm pretty sure for me it will involve getting a sandwich from hectors deli in the city. I tried it for the first time yesterday and I gotta say, it is worth the hype. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had honestly

It's like staring into the internet circa 2000

6

yum, good bread morning

I have been thinking of making panettone, which is my fave bread, I will need to buy peel and brandy and flour and eggs

Another solo trivia night and at a brand new venue. The big crowds must be because of the tine of year. Once I got everything set up it went smoothly

5
SpinMeRound - 1w

Love hearing about this!! I love seeing the different people at trivia from the fanatics to the people just using it as an excuse to drink. A quiz host once told me about doing a corporate event for a lawyer firm and it was one of the most soul draining experiences of her life

2
tombruzzo - 1w

It's interesting seeing the difference in teams as well. The team that usually wins at my regular spot is a about 8 people from one family so they have a whole range of general knowledge to draw from

2
tone212_ - 1w

Free donuts on offer in co-working today, never seen so many people go after free food at once. I was one of them.

5
Seagoon_ - 1w

it's a doughnut day, I had some for lunch and I regret nothing, was so hungry, brekkie was at 5 am

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

Have had to reschedule open mic to next week. Have to be at work at 7am Friday morning so that's not going to happen if I'm not finishing till 10ish at the bar.

5
Seagoon_ - 1w

this morning is test public transport morning

4
Force_majeure1234 - 1w

Good idea. I will jump off the tram at anzac station and go into the city on train!

4
Seagoon_ - 1w

transport test done, at best the train disruption has doubled the time it takes to get From Seaholme to Spencer street, from 25 min to 50 . Not great but still less time than from Carlton to Spencer!

4
Seagoon_ - 1w

I might try the beach ๐Ÿ™‚

4
Seagoon_ - 1w

so hot down the beach, hot and glary,

I think if I go to the beach this summer I will go early in the morning, after brekkie, that way I won't get cooked or skin cancer

I did find some nice shells

4
Catfish - 1w

Thanks for the reminder to order a Gothasol

4
Seagoon_ - 1w

just walk on the shady side of the street

( I've done more walking in the sun the past 6 months than in the past 30 years )

1
melbaboutown - 1w

I know you can get UV resistant umbrellas or parasols but you do get funny looks

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1w

I used to go with my mum to Peter Mac many moons ago and we'd use Parliament station and she hated the escalators so much that I'd have to talk to her the whole time while on them. Going down was the worst. I could here her mumbling "fuck, fuck, fuck".

Anyway I asked her one time why we didn't use the lifts. Her answer was "I tried them once. They're slow and smelt horrendously like piss. I was slowly suffocating. Never again".

To this day whenever I get in a lift I think about who the fuck has pissed in the corner?

4
SpinMeRound - 1w

I feel it's rare to find a public transport/car park life that doesn't smell like piss.

5
Thornburywitch - 1w

The loos at Parliament station are so hard to access that I can quite see how someone in a hurry would go to the lift at the end of the platform rather than hike up the escalators, fish out their myki, walk a large circle around the barriers, go to the loo, walk back around, fish out myki again and then back down those awful escalators again. The Parliament escalators are famous for bothering people with sensory or balance issues - instant vertigo. The designers got them so wrong that they are now world famous for bad design. I hate those escalators with a passion. I usually end up sitting down on a step and only stand up for the last little bit. God help anyone navigating them with shopping bags and/or small children in tow. They should have put proper loos on each platform, or at least on each level. And good luck FINDING the loos at Melbourne Central.

6
Nath - 1w

I suppose there must be some, but until this moment I never thought about the possibility that Parliament station even had loos.

2
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1w

There was a carpark near the Aquarium so many levels high. I wondered why there was so many cars on the ground level until I got in the lift to come down. The smell in the lift was nostril hair burning. I told the kid "don't touch the walls and certainly don't read anything".

3
LowExperience2368 - 1w

Watched the new Knives Out movie. Got cheap tickets and I'm so glad I watched it at the movies, even though it will be on Netflix in two weeks. 4.5/5

Anyone know if the social media ban is going to apply to YouTube Music?.... Got a family account and it seems that my kids access will be affected, even though it's already a kids account....

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 1w

Another reason why this ban is actually stupid af.

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

I don't want to sound like a herald scum headline but the term Nanny State does come to mind.

Like the vape ban that backfired spectacularly.

4
StudSpud The Starchy - 1w

I refuse to channel money into the tobacco black market, because I don't want to fund crime like that (eat the rich, not firebomb small businesses FFS), but I u don't blame people for doing so. Addiction is hard to kick, and if they can get a cheap way to get their fix then of course they will lol.

4
tombruzzo - 1w

It pulls comments from Youtube videos so there's all the possibility it might. You can access a lot of videos through Youtube Music and podcasts as well if they count as social.

3
calhoon2005 - 1w

Yeah, so this is why I think it's a little bit of a ham-fisted approach

5
Seagoon_ - 1w

no ham!! it has too many nitrites

2
Nath - 1w

I don't know whether this answers your question, but they emailed me this morning:

Hi Nath,

Weโ€™re writing to share an important change to how under 16 year old users access YouTube in Australia. Due to a new law, users must be 16 or older to sign in to YouTube. This means that starting 10 December, users under 16 years old will be automatically signed out. This includes any supervised pre-teen and teen accounts you manage.

What this means for you:
Parental controls only work when your pre-teen or teen is signed in, so the settings youโ€™ve chosen will no longer apply if they watch while signed out. This includes specific channels youโ€™ve blocked and the content setting youโ€™ve chosen.

What this means for your supervised pre-teen or teen under 16:
While they may still be able to watch YouTube signed out, they will not be able to access certain features, including likes, subscriptions, memberships, and creating playlists. For teens who have a YouTube channel, it will no longer be visible to other users, and they will lose the ability to leave comments and upload new videos.

Users are always able to download or delete their data and content theyโ€™ve created. When your pre-teen or teen turns 16, they will be able to sign in to YouTube again and reinstate their channel. You can find more detailed information about this change and what you can do in our Help Center.

Thanks, The YouTube team

I actually have concerns with how this reads. The whole point of the family plan is to avoid ads. If the kids are forced to experience YouTube signed out, they will get ads on both videos and music. I'm certain this isn't their intention though. At least the teenager isn't making videos. A couple of mates are and they're super sad. They can't make any more videos until they turn 16 and now nobody is going to be able to see the videos they have previously made.

3
calhoon2005 - 1w

Yeah, I got that today too. No mention of YouTube Music though...

2
melbaboutown - 1w

Since the adblocker arms race became too much for me Iโ€™m using Brave to avoid ads (so many were for gambling, alcohol and AI porn/scams) but am still being served dodgy channels like manosphere stuff. They are watchable without verification. And because Iโ€™m not signed in I canโ€™t block them.

Nice looking out, YouTube. The teens are so protected. /s

1
tombruzzo - 1w

A new The Zenith Passage song dropped recently if you like your extreme metal with a bit of groove

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1w

Hell yeah! Will suss it out.

2
tombruzzo - 1w

Their riffs aren't just constant pummelling, which gives them a lot more groove. And if anything it makes such fast technical music harder because everyone needs to be so tight

3
SaneMartigan - 1w

I made seitan today, which is basically gluten protein that acts like meat. I made a two little slabs of it and am treating them like pork belly - sliced and fried. This time I put it all through the mincer before cooking which really helped to break up the gluten. The first efforts were almost impossible to cut with a knife. I should get some sausage casing and try to make snags out of it.

Anyone got a meat smoker they'd be prepared to run a piece through to see what happens? I don't care if it shares the space with meat.

3
Force_majeure1234 - 1w

Town hall station is so deep underground ๐Ÿ˜ฎ 3 long escalators worth.
Edit: and for some reason I thought the end of the line was ANZAC station but I'm an idiot. It joins up to the cranbourne line to the south and Sunbury line to the north (if that's what they're called, I don't use trains much sorry)

3
Bottom_racer - 1w

Were people just standing in the middle and not to the left?

2
Force_majeure1234 - 1w

Nah and It wasnt too busy, given the time of the day. Lots of ppl looking around in awe though, and excited to be getting on the train

4
Bottom_racer - 1w

Made it down the bellarine for a few days for some time off. Dins!

was stung by a bee taking that lol. Gaffer tape, tea towel and ice (and hydrocortisone) to the rescue.

Edit that's an outdoor sink the indoor one is more messy.

3
LowExperience2368 - 1w

Yum!

Hope the sting heals fast

3
