I decided I wasn't happy with how well the food processor kneads bread dough and decided to get a bread maker. It also gives me another option for making yoghurt which is a good thing, I usually make it in the rice cooker and some times I want to make both rice and yoghurt and things get awkward.
Myers had the model I got on special, so I price matched it with Appliances Online and bought it through them. It's funny to think when I was growing up Myers was considered a top store with great service and now I'd prefer not to buy from them if I can avoid it and don't really trust their customer service to be up to scratch. How the world has changed.
8
PeelerSheila - 2w
Same here re Myer. Last time I went I stood in the store for a good 10 minutes and was not approached once by a staff member. This would've been unheard of with the Myer of my youth.
Also let me know how you go with the breadmaker. I've been a little tempted but I'm sticking with my stretching-and-folding sourdough thing for now.
1
Rusty Raven - 2w
I have had a few breadmakers before. They are really good at kneading dough (and providing a warm place for it to rise) but are not as good at the actual baking. I intend to just use it for the kneading and then bake the loaf in the oven. Which is how my mother has been using hers for years too, with very good results.

Probably poor quality and not thick enough for my purpose and there probably isnโt enough white to make Magic White without finishing the tube. There are two little brushes included but theyโll have to serve, to not mix the ones for oil and acrylic.
Added a tiny bottle of the linseed oil (refined is safer and I plan to soak the used paper towels in water then discard sealed in a ziploc or some container - Iโll ask the council).
I really got stung badly on the large bottle of odourless spirits though because there were no small bottles in stock. Ouch.

Thatโs actually a really good idea. Maybe I can wait till Iโve binned the used litter and tip the dirty paint water in the bin on top of it.
Just a bit worried because it may contaminate quite a lot of water during the cleaning, too much to absorb without wasting expensive clean litter, as a review said that soap and water cleaning was very inefficient and they ended up eventually resorting to solvent or linseed oil anyway. And the โsolubleโ paints didnโt thin well with water.

My girlfriend tried to use her laptop to look at some Black Friday stuff last night and she's just getting sick of how slow it is. It 'upgraded' itself to W11 a while ago and that's part of her problem. The other one is probably that it's only running on 8gb RAM.
I think she wants to run a debloater finally but I may get her to covert over to Linux completely. If I did she would actually be more all in on Linux than me, I still have Windows on one of the drives of my main computer.
6
melbaboutown - 2w
Yeah as soon as Win11 came in it ate all my drive storage and processing power. Now I only really use that machine for one game and everything else if possible gets done on my phoneโฆ
Itโs such a bad OS
Theyโre fighting about extending support for Win10 but I think itโs too late to roll it back or I would
Edit: I think I saw something about Firefox guzzling resources too. So that might be another reason things are slow. There might have been something to fix that but I forget
2
tombruzzo - 2w
She still uses Chrome but Firefox isn't that much better these days. We'll debloat it but I can get a laptop off work for the price of a 1TB SSD so maybe it becomes a project or backup laptop.
Whatever we end up doing I think I'll put bazzite on there for her because it's similar to the steamdeck she already has and it's main colour is purple, which is her favourite colour

Last night I grabbed a bucket and washed a couple of soft toys that had been sitting in the laundry basket for ages. Hung them in the shower to drip dry but theyโre still really wet where water has collected at the bottom. I squeezed some of it out but I might have to rough up the stuffing further by wrapping them in a towel and squeezing or weighting.
I probably did it wrong but am just trying to get things around the house cleaned and sorted in the most straightforward ways possible.
Edit: Gentle spin cycle I guess. The stuffing is already a tiny bit lumpier from the agitation of fitting it in the bucket so I guess I can just replace the filling if it gets really clumped. Not looking forward to the largest one at all. (The proper techniques according to the guides are a hassle.)

i am still doing an assignment that was due a week ago. family is giving me a lot of shit for it and making me feel ashamed. lots of the whole "get a job" and "what have you contributed to this family?" talk and that i'm a loser. i am focusing on finishing this assignment tonight and going to apply for jobs so i'm not underemployed. i don't know if i want to do this course anymore, or if i could take it on if i was actually treated for adhd. the dr said no stimulants, and i'm scared to try anymore meds. i've tried three different meds and none of them 'worked'.
this plus the itching that's lasted for months. i wonder if it's stress related. going to give it a couple more days of moisturising and see if it works. google says it's a sign of cancer. of course it does.

I think she wants to run a debloater finally but I may get her to covert over to Linux completely. If I did she would actually be more all in on Linux than me, I still have Windows on one of the drives of my main computer.

How is it December already?
Not sure if the tree is going up in this house because I have a dog that pees on almost any corner he is capable of lifting his leg on
I have a cat who would make it his personal mission to attack attack attack.
If I put a tree up I'd be sacrificing my clothes horse space so that ain't happening. Then you gotta tear it down a month later. I can't be bothered with that shit.
I put it up early to terrorise the husband who has not yet even thought about presents
Hahaha. We give each other presents all the time. We put cash into YL's bank account for Christmas. I'm cool with not having a tree. Plus tinsel makes me sneeze.
It's bin night here in Thornbury, and NO ONE but me has their bins out. Council website is silent on the issue. Has something happened that I don't know about but everyone else does? I am starting to worry.
Probably just everyone avoiding going out in the rain for as long as possible.
::: spoiler overwhelm i am still doing an assignment that was due a week ago. family is giving me a lot of shit for it and making me feel ashamed. lots of the whole "get a job" and "what have you contributed to this family?" talk and that i'm a loser. i am focusing on finishing this assignment tonight and going to apply for jobs so i'm not underemployed. i don't know if i want to do this course anymore, or if i could take it on if i was actually treated for adhd. the dr said no stimulants, and i'm scared to try anymore meds. i've tried three different meds and none of them 'worked'.
this plus the itching that's lasted for months. i wonder if it's stress related. going to give it a couple more days of moisturising and see if it works. google says it's a sign of cancer. of course it does.
:::
Your family are kind of being jerksโฆ shame is demotivating. And any kind of meds aimed at improving your mental health or ability to cope probably wonโt work in this environment.
Do your best. Stress can sometimes result in hives
I agree. Turns out I have failed the subject because of unsubmitted assessment but I looked at the policy and they can only not mark an assessment if it's more than 10 days overdue, which mine is not. Let's see what happens.
Thanks Melba.
