DiaDeLosMuertos - 2w

Woohoo it's Fr.......bugger.

Reading that post about e-bikes that go faster than 25 ks being banned, like wow there is literally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bikes in that classification on the roads. That ban will upset a whole lot of people if it bans ones already on the road.

I know a 13 year old that had a bad stack on one recently, not severely injured thankfully. On Saturday her and my neighbours daughter were heading off on their bikes, ( $1,200 versions by the way that I'm rather sure would do way over 25 kph ) I asked about the whereabouts of their helmets. "Meh" might as well have been the actual answer. This is just days after an older bloke died after falling from an e-scooter in the area. Just about right outside the aforementioned 13 year old's house.

Well have a lovely Thursday.

To be clear, those bikes were already illegal to ride. There was just very weak enforcement until a spate of deaths caused by them recently.

They were also illegal to import until the Morrison government relaxed the import regulations in 2021, to allow importing them despite them being illegal to ride on the road, bike paths, and footpaths. The new laws are going to return to banning the import, and there has also been discussion of banning the sale of them locally. Alongside already-ongoing legal crackdowns of people riding these electric motorbikes. (Because that's what they are. They aren't ebikes, no matter what the media or their users try to tell you. By definition, an ebike is pedal assist. These are throttle-operated motorbikes, being ridding without licence or registration, often by children.)

I don't know if this is racist, or factual? Is "Chinese Dentist" a euphamism for something? A selling point like "one lady owner" who only drove it to Church on Sundays or similar? I was so confused.

Silly, it means you get a Chinese Dentist thrown in with the car.

( Sorry not " thrown in", more like gently placed in. )
