Rusty Raven - 2w

The final results for my last unit are out, I did somehow manage to scrape through with a Distinction.

Got my first payslip after dropping to part time. Yes, it looks a little sadder, but given how bone tired I am right now I absolutely cannot wait to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling in complete silence tomorrow morning. Just need to watch the spending a little closer.

11
Catfish - 2w

Dropping to part time was one of the best mental things I ever did. Yes it's a money ouch, but not as bad as I thought it might be.

7
anotherspringchicken - 2w

Thatโ€™s good to hear.. Iโ€™m reducing my hours next year and am a bit worried about handling the cut in pay. Iโ€™ve lived on way less in the past so know I can do it, and am hoping for less burnout, too ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

The office dog is a cavoodle with a white patch on her chest. Her bone shaped tag makes it look like a bowtie over a dress shirt so she looks very fancy as she pathetically begs everyone for food

Being asked if I have plans on x day without telling me what theyโ€™re planning. I donโ€™t fall for that. I need all the details upfront!

Gonna keep it really vague. I am now a pseudo nurse to my beautiful husband who has a temporary piss bag strapped to his leg. It's definitely a new for us.

8
Thornburywitch - 2w

Oh my! Best wishes to husband, and some strength and patience vibes for you.

This isn't related to the shaver incident, is it?

6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2w

Hahaha. Nah but we did laugh at the amount of people who got to see my handiwork.

5
Eagle - 2w

I did wonder about your hospital comment last night... I hope you're both travelling well. Community nurse here, feel free to hit me up with any questions. Nothing is too gross or stupid.

6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2w

Omg. Thank you. How the fuck do I wash the overnight bag or do I need to? It wasn't explained to me how but in the pamphlet it says to.

6
Eagle - 2w

Empty it (obvs) and and flush it through with warm water from the white tip end out the open tap. You can use some gentle hand soap, nothing as harsh as dishwasher liquid. We usually tell people to do that in the shower. Rinse all the soap out. You can use 1:8 vinegar/water to flush out if you think its smelly. Put the cap back on the white tip, leave the end tap open and hang it somewhere to drip dry. Keep it up off the floor.

8
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2w

Ah. Thank you.

5
Eagle - 2w

Can't wait for probation to be over so I can move closer.

In a less negative vibe, I made some marketing material fairly quickly today off the cuff and it seems to be a hit!

Edit: also tomorrow is Friday which is awesome.

Managed to stay down the beach an extra 2 days. Back in Melbs now.

A father w/ his 3 identical triplet daughters sitting opposite was interesting. Haven't seen that before. All dressed the same which would be confusing.

5
tombruzzo - 2w

Niota is an interesting and inscrutable game that is full of Interesting Choices

5
Seagoon_ - 2w

super shallow post incoming

the flies and other flying bugs are bad here especially down at the beach, I've found using cologne scented shampoo has helped somewhat

would it be too much scent/icky to also use 4711 soap and maybe some extra eucalyptus in my laundry liquid? I don't want to go the deet route and since the bugs here are clean biters I don't have a need to

5
SaneMartigan - 2w

It's worth a shot.

5
Bottom_racer - 2w

go the deet route

After seeing what it does to oxalis I'm not putting that on anymore lol.

2
melbaboutown - 2w

You could just pour some 4711 cologne into a little plastic spritz bottle to lightly spray over your clothes. If thatโ€™s a bit expensive Florida Water (some Asian shops sell knockoffs) or rosewater might be more bang for your buck.

That might be a risk for attracting bees though

4
calhoon2005 - 2w

Fellow parents.... Have any of you gone down the BYOD laptop purchase path through LWT/JB Edu? Apart from it obviously being a brand new device, only advantage I can see is the ease of repairs on site. And seemingly coverage for accidental damage, but I can't find what is covered when referring to "accidental damage".... I can find the same specs from somewhere like reboot-it for a third of the price, but obviously no servicing....

4
tombruzzo - 2w

I've been wondering about this for when the kids are old enough. I could get old laptops from work for like $150 each but then people may not be able to service them because they're non standard

4
Eagle - 2w

We've decided to just go with what the school provides. It may be cheaper elsewhere but I do not have the time to stuff around looking!

4
SaneMartigan - 2w

Also teasing. The standard one is like a uniform.

3
LowExperience2368 - 2w

Parents did this for me (not through JB) when I was in Year 7 and the laptop still works after all that time, but needed to get a newer device in uni because of the specs and outdated operating system.

I remember the laptop having problems with the imaging card, and the hinges. The repair guy fixed it at the school and also I remember a technician coming to our house to repair it for nothing. It was worth it in that case, but if the laptop is good and unlikely to have problems, the cheaper option sounds better.

Blah catching a train after a week of driving sucks ass

4
melbaboutown - 2w

I was late with Melbcatโ€™s afternoon meds due to nap and she hated being dosed directlyโ€ฆ but lately she hasnโ€™t been wanting to eat it in meals so Iโ€™m required to be the bad guy. (She eats plain unmedicated food just fine.)

The first California poppy has come up. Itโ€™s yellow, not the pale faded yellow of the nasturtium but a Cadmium yellow.

4
Seagoon_ - 2w

Californian poppies are very beautiful and grow all over the West Coast like a weed. Little spots of beauty in among some ugly. I loved seeing them. ๐Ÿ’›

And no, not the bad guy, you're doing the right thing. I'm sure if she could understand she wouldn't be difficult. ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

2
melbaboutown - 2w

I wish I could explain to her. Having to force her to take meds so frequently (due to her refusing the easy way in the meals) means she gets overhandled and really over it.

4
LowExperience2368 - 2w

Squeezy yoghurt pouches have been acquired in my household and suddenly I'm eating way more yoghurt than I do than just from the tub. The tubs are better for the environment though

4
Eagle - 2w

You can buy refillable squeezy pouches. Some of them are even dishwasher safe.

4

Rusty Raven - 2w

I went to Bunnings for some more supplies for my lawnmower restoration (as it was a bit rustier than I realised) and had to divert on the way home due to a road closure. Which meant a nice little drive through the countryside. I even saw an alpaca, freshly shaved so looking very long in the neck.

4
Taleya - 2w

that ryobi tool cleaner foaming stuff is exxy af but holy shit it's amazing. I actually used to to clean the last bits of rust off a cast iron garden seat I'm restoring (admittedly after blasting it with a scouring wheel but still, the amount of shit that came off in the rinse was impressive. And that was after I'd tackled it with a brush)

So we've realised that for the sleep screaming to happen, these are the ingredients:

  • less than 8 hours of sleep the night before
  • double caffeine (I'm usually fine-ish with one matcha but not on an empty stomach)
  • stress

So I'm going to give up caffeine for a bit and see how I go. Now that uni is almost over, I won't have that stress though. But still could be good to give it up so my body can return to some sort of equilibrium and the physical anxiety symptoms may leave. It might be the reason why I have anxiety chest pain everyday

Caught up on Dragula, gosh I love the outfits and drama

I bought Astroneer on sale on Steam, and it's so cozy! The logic is consistent (if X does Y, then A should do B and it does), beautiful visuals, no rushing through content. I'm just taking it slow and enjoying the discovery.

I also bought this colouring book from Brunswick Bound, I'm excited to get stuck into it
