I'm not going to say corruption, primarily because it's been 13 years since the initial purchase and I doubt the same people who originally resumed it are the ones who made the decision to sell it again. But holy fuck does this not seem entirely above-board.

One thing I'm confused about though, is this statement:

the block was 20 per cent smaller than what the council bought from the Georges

What happened to that 20%?

Probably that area around the outside that you can see and it will probably become roads, I'm guessing.

I'm prepared to let this slide as long as the bugs continue to flow.

Nowhere near the actual bay. The City of Moreton Bay is an abomination of an amalgamation of three separate councils, and Eaton's Hill is in a part of it further away from the actual bay than most of the City of Brisbane.

Then I withdraw my comment above! And thank you for explaining it to a southerly cockroach.

Here's a handy map image I found:

The dotted red line is the full area known as Moreton Bay City (formerly Moreton Bay Regional Council). But the white-ish areas are the parts that are actually built up. You can kinda see Caboolture, Redcliffe, and the area from Strathpine down towards that blue marker (that's roughly the suburb of Arana Hills) each form fairly distinct parts. The actual bay is at Redcliffe. Where this took place is basically at the bottom of the r in "Brendale".
