Seagoon_ - 3w

Today at the beach I found an ankylosaurus.

I also took a nice pic of a fisherman's pier.

10
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 3w

Lovely ankylosaurus. Thagomizer complete or nearly too. One of my neighbours has a similar stegosaurus in their front garden. It moves around from time to time eating the plants.

StudSpud The Starchy - 3w

RIP Thag Simmons

TheWitchofThornbury2 - 3w

It's now the official term for a tail end 'ornament' on a dinosaur.

4
melbaboutown - 3w

Be careful, you might need a permit to take the wildlife home /j

7
Force_majeure112 @lemmy.world - 3w

You should put the ankylosaurus back

3
Bottom_racer - 3w

I'm reporting seagoon, the pier and the anklesawrus to an authority.

5
Seagoon_ - 3w

Go ahead.

3
Bottom_racer - 3w

I'm just trying find the anklesawrus ombudsman. Might take me a while.

Idiot neighbour been playing mindless doof since 7am.

Come 10am they'll discover how extensive and insane my mp3 and speaker system is.

Gonna need the first choon you played to counter the mindless doof.

What kinda speakers you have?

I can has Steam Train!! ๐Ÿš‚

A Steam Train went past my house , stopped at the historic station for a minute then went on. I was caught by surprise and it went so quick I didn't get pics. ๐Ÿ˜‘

Nek time. All the steam trains will be coming through here because of the line diversions. ๐Ÿ™‚

9
Bottom_racer - 3w

Don't wanna flex too hard but a mini steam powered thomas the tank engine goes by my place every w/e in summer. Always booked out lol.

8
tombruzzo - 3w

I've seen this in a newsletter I get for kids' activities. We'll make the trip down there one day

6
Bottom_racer - 3w

Seems to be really popular.

If it were me w/ young kids I'd hit up the thomas the tank engine, then skip queenscliff, head to point lonsdale, fish n' chips place opposite the new playground (also very popular w/ kiddos), and if you time it right w/ the tide and weather the rockpools and war bunkers near the lighthouse (also extremely popular w/ kiddos). Queenscliff itself is a bit boring for kids.

4
tombruzzo - 3w

Definitely noting this down as an itinerary for a day trip

1
Eagle - 3w

In years gone by we have done the Thomas at Puffing Billy experience. Not the cheapest day out but lots of character trains and buses and people and activities and it was fantastic. I'm a bit sad we've outgrown Thomas now.

2
Seagoon_ - 3w

that's awesome ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’–

4
Bottom_racer - 3w

They even have some dude as the fat controller ushering people on for the full experience heh.

4
Catfish - 3w

Shit! Came home from shopping to a house reeking of gas. Cats fine. That was way too close.

9
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3w

Holy shit. Glad you're ok. Were the cats cooking something or just trying to kill you outright?

8
melbaboutown - 3w

Oh shit! What happened?

6
Catfish - 3w

Didn't turn the stove off properly? And it's old enough to not have the magic valve

6
melbaboutown - 3w

Damn. Iโ€™m glad itโ€™s all ok. Thatโ€™s quite scary

5
melbaboutown - 3w

Itโ€™s none of my biz and I hope Iโ€™m not being intrusiveโ€ฆ but would it be an option to buy an electric hotplate and/or an electric frying pan that can switch off at the wall rather than use the stove?

And maybe buy a portable โ€˜travelโ€™ carbon monoxide detector?

The idea of no safety valve on a gas stove is just haunting me.

(For context I still get para about mine with safety features and freak if I bump the dials. And Iโ€™ve had to handle an undetected gas leak before)

4
Catfish - 3w

Thank you for your concern. I do already own a plug in induction plate. This was total human clumsiness, and not bad enough to set off the detectors, just our noses.

5
melbaboutown - 3w

All good, sorry. Gas is some shit that scares me

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3w

Is it the vicks inhaler or a Christmas miracle because for the last few days I felt like I'd been punched in the nose but not today?

9
SaneMartigan - 3w

Sky pretty.

8
SpinMeRound - 3w

Trekked over to the State Rose Garden, so lovely at this time of year!!

8
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3w

I reckon I might get a Xmas tree this year for Fluffball to jump all over.

8
Catfish - 3w

No tinsel unless you want a festive litter box and expensive abdominal surgery

7
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3w

Thanks for the heads up! I've never had a Xmas tree before so I would have gone all out lol

5
Rusty Raven - 3w

This is for Gibson, you should definitely go all out. At least two rolls of toilet paper wrapped around the tree, and another to make a nest at the base of the tree. And all presents under the tree should be appropriately sized open boxes for sitting in.

8
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3w

I've screen shouted this comment to remind me when I go shopping next lol

6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3w

Can I suggest a toilet paper tower in the shape of a tree with catnip hiding in one of the tubes?

5
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3w

This is a fantastic idea!

2
Catfish - 3w

Yeah, it's not at all pet safe (and I consider it an environmental crime, but that's a different bucket)

5
melbaboutown - 3w

Cat scratching pole that looks like an Xmas tree maybe

4
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 3w

And a really really secure christmas tree stand.

4
tombruzzo - 3w

I actually managed to get a ticket to Opeth last night. It had been sold out for weeks but I opened ticketek and there one was.

I had been feeling super bummed recently because Metallica and Blood Incantation played the same night a few weeks ago and I couldn't get a ticket to either. This was just what I needed

8
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3w

Enjoy man!

4

Got two hours of sleep and picked up a second start shift today. I accidentally woke up when I was meant to start. Oops. Eating and then going back.

7
anotherspringchicken - 3w

Looked at the jungle that is the garden the other day and thought I can sort that in a couple of hours, no worries. After gardening all morning, turns out I couldnโ€™t, so back to it tomorrow. Work has been pissing me off lately, so I guess itโ€™s a good way to burn off the irritation

Wish Iโ€™d taken befores & afters to show off my work, though

6
Seagoon_ - 3w

before and after is a good idea

cos sometimes I be taking bin loads of weeds and litter out and I swear it makes little difference ๐Ÿ˜”

2

It definitely feels that way, doesnโ€™t it

2

Massive day of gardening and using power tools.

Did I need to use the chainsaw?

Not at all.

Did I use it excessively?

Most definitely.

2
LowExperience2368 - 3w

Monday and Tuesday are over 25 degrees. Maybe I shall go beach on a random Tuesday when I am done with these assignments hanging over my head. This is probably the last time in my life I will be able to do something like until retirement, so I shall cherish it.

I'm scared to start working full-time in a "real" job and I haven't even started yet. I don't want to do busywork that's ultimately meaningless. But everything has a purpose in some way.

5
Seagoon_ - 3w

Don't over think it. Enjoy the days. ๐Ÿ™‚

Question for the cooks out there on thread: is it possible to make a turkish soup with absolutely no garlic in it? Or other spices? My lovely next door neighbour heard I was a bit under the weather and brought round a whole of pot of it. I love her dearly but dat soup was not turkish. She did do a good job with the flatbread though.

4
MeanElevator - 3w

Is she Turkish? If yes, the soup was definitely Turkish.

2
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 3w

Nope. Irish. Hence the good flatbread, but no flavour to the soup.

2
MeanElevator - 3w

Oh dang. 0 for authenticity but. 10 for the effort.

Still...free soup delivered is always good

1
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 3w

This calcium supplement is genuinely making me sick. The other one years ago didnโ€™t do that at all? None of the reviews for this kind mention anything? ๐Ÿคจ

I think I need to use my own judgment and rebuy the old brand to try it out. Even if itโ€™s not the one the doctor recommended itโ€™s better than not taking any at all.

1
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 3w

I've found this with some vitamin D pills - they make me sick to my stomach. The casings were those gel ones. The uncased ones that can be divided are no problem. Dunno what kind of pill you're taking but maybe change to the other sort.

2
melbaboutown - 3w

Theyโ€™re huge white scored horse pill tablets. (Rather than capsules.) Cal-600. They tasted weird and made me feel sick before but when I snapped them in half for easier swallowing they made me really ill.

I looked it up and thatโ€™s a known side effect of calcium but that never happened with the Caltrate. Youโ€™re right, Iโ€™m hoping the other one works
