Doing a donation of items to the shelter I got Toby from this weekend. I prefer to donate physical items, so reached out to them to see what they needed. Have got some rabbit food, kong toys to stuff and freeze, cooling mats, will go out tomorrow and buy some blankets and basic training treats. Am preparing myself for the waterworks from myself.

10
Seagoon_ - 1mon

so many hugs, this is normal, it means you loved

I mourned when my buddy Oscar Cat died and I still get very teary when I think of Allie

6
melbaboutown - 1mon

Some of those pets will be very grateful, maybe even taking their toys and blankets with them to new homes

TheWitchofThornbury2 - 1mon

Well that was a disaster. I tried to heat up a container of purchased fried rice for din dins. Something in it had a hard shell, and esploded all over the microwave. Not on my bucket list for Thursday night - cleaning the microwave including picking rice out of the ventilation grids. The less said about the state of the turntable the better. I didn't know takeaway food containers could actually melt but this one did. Will not be purchasing from that outlet again. On the plus side - I now have a spotlessly clean microwave oven. And every reason to do something in the airfryer for dins.

Seagoon_ - 1mon

not cool

Catfish - 1mon

Recommendations for covid cures solicited! Vaguely sensible things, not vinegar up yah clachah/s who am I kidding? Daft ideas go

9
StudSpud The Starchy - 1mon

I've had it twice. First time was very rough, solid 2 weeks of existing on the plane of pain.

Black lemon honey tea helps, if only to get sugar and water into you. Bread as it's a neutral inoffensive food. Lots of water, sleep whenever you can to jump forward in time.

Keep cosy and comfortable

5
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 1mon

Wish I could help, but I can't. So far I've missed having it. Sending get well soon vibes.

I seem to remember that icypoles/icecream apparently helps a bit with symptoms. Worth a try.

5
Catfish - 1mon

I'm on round 2 official, but probably 4. Pretty sure I spotted you at the thing, but piked on waving.

4
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 1mon

No probs - interesting crowd. Enjoyed a few convos with random strangers there. Loved the singing.

3
Catfish - 1mon

Where there is David there will be singing! And oft intentionally daft astrological predictions

3
Thornburywitch - 1mon

My kind of guy

3
SituationCake - 1mon

Chicken soup wonโ€™t cure you but it sure will make you feel better. Panadol or nurofen will help with fever and aches.

5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

You can kill it with chilli - not my idea

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1mon

A cat applied to the lap as a makeshift heat pack.

Then snacks.

4
Eagle - 1mon

Garlic and horseradish tablets to dry out the snot. Lots of fluids. Rest. Panadol. Eat little bits when you're feeling like it, I lived on rice crackers and cream cheese last time.

3
Seagoon_ - 1mon

every time I think I've had it I've tested neg. I think it's was just bad testing

I found lots of sleep, vit d , and drinking water helped the best

3
LowExperience2368 - 1mon

Panadol or ibuprofen for fever. Difflam double strength throat spray. Decongestant or sinus rinse. Lots of fluids. Half of chemist warehouse.

Hope you feel better soon. Rest up!!

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1mon

Leaving earlier and finishing earlier is definitely the go. Way less people on the train both ways.

Have a great day everyone โค๏ธ

8
Catfish - 1mon

Since Nellie has decided to leave for a wifi-less locale, perhaps this specimen might be a new mascot

Costa in a worm suit

8
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1mon

Chill day. Bit quiet because the guy I'm eventually taking over from has been under the pump.

BBQ after work tomorrow is pretty chill though.

Just wish I lived closer to work

7
LowExperience2368 - 1mon

iirc where you live doesn't have a train line? Is it realistic to move somewhere closer with better transport? Might have to sacrifice space though.

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 1mon

::: spoiler 1am pork crackling? Don't mind if I do! :::

7
bacon - 1mon

we wants it

4
Catfish - 1mon

Yes please!

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

I plan on making this on Sunday. I hope it turns out this good.

2
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 1mon

Sky pretty. And maybe an aurora later.

7
Rusty Raven - 1mon

I came here to say that! It's nice now the sun has moved around a bit for summer I can see the sunset from my loungeroom window. The bit where the sun drops down low enough to try and sear my eyeballs out is less nice, but the sunset is definitely appreciated.

3
calhoon2005 - 1mon

One great thing about getting older is my memory seems to be going.... what's the positive you say? Well, tonight it means that I realised I totally forgot I love Spoon and that seeing them play this live and the whole crowd just going nuts is a pretty fucking good memory. Hardest Cut

7
Seagoon_ - 1mon

they have a real qotsa sound

love it

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 1mon

Qotsa and Wolfmother are bands I listen to when I want that classic 60s rock sound without sacrificing modern beats

Rusty Raven - 1mon

Garden work is finally complete. I am going to celebrate with a shower and then veg on the sofa for the afternoon.

::: spoiler A lot of dirt was moved. Pigeons supervised, but refused to help :::

::: spoiler The back yard looks even more patchy than when I started, but should improve once the grass grows in. :::

I think if I top dress the grass again in Autumn I can fill in the lower spots a bit more, and the extra sand should help with drainage and hopefully I won't have the wet spots that hold water after rain.

6
Seagoon_ - 1mon

it's going to look great, you've put in the hard work and made a well designed garden , it will pay off with enjoyment all seasons :)

3
Taleya - 1mon

Wet spots? Tree homes!

3
melbaboutown - 1mon

Iโ€™m gonna go try and have a short walk to shock them bones. Hopefully there will be no unsavoury incidents

6
Seagoon_ - 1mon

Good idea. :)

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

I planned on washing the doona cover but someone has other plans. Do I kick him off?

6
LowExperience2368 - 1mon

Yep. He'll find another spot.

5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Now he's on the naked doona and he won't look at me because he knows he's bad. ๐Ÿ˜ก

3
melbaboutown - 1mon

Heโ€™s not bad. :( We all have oopsies especially as we get older

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Yes he is

3
LowExperience2368 - 1mon

๐Ÿ˜‚

My dog rolled in rubbish earlier, fellow bad dog

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Ick

3
SaneMartigan - 1mon

Flick a bit of cheese somewhere and he'll be up and away.

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Yeah it's gonna happen.

3
Bottom_racer - 1mon

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Glad I'm not the only bitch around here.

4
Alamutjones - 1mon

He lives there now. Do you WANT to join the parasitic landlord class?

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

It needs to be washed. There's brown patches where he's wiped arse unless he's gotten into the Vegemite.

2
Bottom_racer - 1mon

5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Yeah he's dirty little bastard.

5
SpinMeRound - 1mon

Hell no!

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Atleast he's not following me around I guess.

3
melbaboutown - 1mon

This is why I have two doonas and covers.

I get the fresh one ready to go and when the pet gets up I swap them over lightning fast

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 1mon

Smart thinking

3
melbaboutown - 1mon

It could take a while but eventually they need the potty or a drink

3
LowExperience2368 - 1mon

All I've been doing these days is drinking tea and trying to get the uni shit done. Have made plans for next week to leave the house for reasons other than work so I have to get shit done faster. Let's see if this works. Spoiler: it won't.

6
Seagoon_ - 1mon

when you do the work the work gets done

you can do this ๐Ÿ˜Š

3
Alamutjones - 1mon

Paaaaaakij

5

Just cracked a Christmas ginger beer ๐ŸŽ…

5

A bit late ain't ya? Christmas finished 10 months ago.

6

Last minit catch up with partners friends from Perth, they've just bought a house here.

Looking forward to the nearby house parties they're known to do ๐Ÿค˜

5

Have you seen the GabeCube announced by Valve today? Interesting things happening in the world of PC gaming right now

5
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 1mon

Yes indeed! I'm the target market lol

3
tombruzzo - 1mon

I've been thinking for a while a cheap all AMD PC with Bazzite would be a good loungeroom computer. Depending on the price they may have solved that for me

2
melbaboutown - 1mon

Hmmmโ€ฆ the results of my bone density scans were not good.

Lately it just isnโ€™t coming up Melbhouse

4
SpinMeRound - 1mon

4
SpinMeRound - 1mon

What's on the pizza today?

2
Alamutjones - 1mon

Was veggible pizza

3
Seagoon_ - 1mon

sleep driving me crazy ...lol

I am sleeping so well now there is no back pain and I can sleep in any position. Comfort now means comfort, not least pain.

Listening to the documentary of BBC Radio I have heard many interviews, many voices, many real time recordings of events I have never heard before.

On side 3 I heard Howard Carter interviewed, Hitler and Mussolini speaking, the first Bing Crosby, the Announcement of War by Chamberlain, real sound recordings and reporting of the Blitz of London, Vera Lynn speaking on the radio, Churchill's announcement of the fall of France.

It was fascinating and engrossing.

3
Seagoon_ - 1mon

nearly all today's garden tasks done, just didn't move a big pot, too heavy, and couldn't repot another because the plant is too big for the pot I had for it. But so much cleaning up done, filled the two garden bins again!

Tomorrow I have to shop for some Australiana for the Young Seagoons and friends. I am excite. :) ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜ญ

3rd post in a row!

London Calling.

Now I get the song. The world is ending and that's how it felt in the 80s.

3
Seagoon_ - 1mon

another day, another ban from Reddit.

Who knew asking for reliable sources would get me banned!

3
Thornburywitch - 1mon

Reddit is off my menu now - permanently.

3
melbaboutown - 1mon

My body feels like I got hit by a truck. But mentally Iโ€™m really understimulated.

chewing furniture

3
Seagoon_ - 1mon

I have a huge list of garden chores, most chores are very small and easy. I will do those first otherwise, overwhelm.

2
SpinMeRound - 1mon

Staying up late for the sake of staying up late.

Rusty Raven - 1mon

It's a beautiful sunny day to sit and watch the remaining cypress trees fall.

The weather forecast says mostly cloudy, but someone forgot to tell the clouds. I got to an early start today, the dog has been walked, breakfast eaten, I have watered the front nature strip and moved about 6 carts of dirt so far. I think of moving the dirt as an arm strengthening exercise, but it's really a whole body thing. Every shovel full also involves squats and bracing all the core muscles. Which means everything should hurt tomorrow, not just the arms!

Edit: looks like the clouds were no available, the forecast has been changed to mostly sunny. I've moved another bunch of soil, at the rate I'm going I might even get finished by lunchtime.
