Because I'm such an IT guru, I thought I'd do a test restore of some data from Crashplan to make sure I can retrieve files.
... well, it works I guess. Wouldn't want any sort of decent chunk of data in a hurry though.
Current backup regime is local on whatever funny filesystem unraid uses (w/ 2 x parity disks), + remote to another unraid server (also with w/2 x parity disks), + remote to Crashplan.
The second unraid backs itself up to the first, + remote to Crashplan as well. So there's two servers in different locations backing themselves up to each other, and to Crashplan. It's like a backup ouroboros.
Hope Crashplan is deduplicating otherwise I'm getting an awful lot of tebibytes for my monthly subscription.

You gotta pay for egress on it these days?

Nah its just the fixed monthly cost... I meant if they arent deduplicating globally I'm putting like 16TB of data on there for 8TB worth of backups cause I'm sending it from two devices.
I suspect they aren't because backups are encrypted. Whether thats encryption or "encryption" I dunno.

Ahh yup yup, and shrug, its free gigabytes or something, insert older meme here.
Sounds like it's running good for you ATM?
These days I'm just being povo and using idrives S3 storage for my backups, is cheap, been doing is thing so far. Lol

The only back up I know how to do is in my car. Can even do that with a trailer, so there's that.

Better then me, every time I have tried to backup with a trailer, it's just kinda sad :( lol

Haha. It just takes practice. I still stuff up at times but am rather decent at it.

Seemed like a good afternoon to mow. About 8 people on my street seemed to agree with me. A weekday session of the Saturday Suburban Symphony.
