Thought I'd give Syncthing a go at sharing a decent amount of files between two different physical locations. Its definitely not the fastest method, but its certainly an easy method. Also you get a GUI which is nice.
I've disabled file watching because there's a lot of small files, but if I'm reading things right inotify is only limited by RAM at a cost of ~540 bytes per watch... and I've got 512GB of RAM that so should be able to watch in to the millions of files I think? 540 bytes = 0.00054MB.... And 0.00054MB * 10,000,000 watches = 5400MB = 5.4GB.... Is that right or have a dropped a zero somewhere?
This is (the largest) one of three shares, so I think 10,000,000 watches would cover all shares. Might be a weekend project to test out.
