I hate the idea of Halloween in so much as decorating your house with cheap import garbage made of plastic that kills wildlife and ends up in landfill.
I hope we embrace the former and not the latter.

Absolutely. Too ill to celebrate this year but next time I should bring everyone over for pumpkin soup and carrot cake by candlelight then let the kids loose on the neighbourhood. No need for buying lazy decorations.
My wider family never bought much more factory-junk than fairy lights and bon bons for xmas, treating it a little closer to a small harvest feast, and it's much better that way.
