I got a surprise recently where I noticed my home grown pumpkins on the windowsill were softening, and opened them up to see that the seeds were already sprouting inside.

I potted the seedlings out and they grew so fast they already have a second set of leaves. I need to give them some liquid fertiliser and next week they go to a friend whose kid will plant them.

The flowers I sowed a while ago in my large pots are growing.

Reading the below news article made me think of our Mulberry trees. They seem strangely sparse with fruit this year. In previous years they've been so full you could see the berries from a good distance. This year. even standing under the trees it takes effort to find the berries...

I hacked back my cacti and have an over abundance of cuttings.

I've been looking online for uses of unwanted cactus cuttings but all I can find is 'how to take cuttings of cacti'.

I would like to chop it up and compost it but I don't have a mulcher or am confident I can cut it small enough to stop it growing again without a great deal of effort.

I don't want to discard it as it's a quality resource with its moisture retaining properties and have in the past used it buried next to trees to provide water and nutrients in summer.

Looking for creative uses for this cactus from the community please.

Do you know you can get cinnamon trees? This feels like the community who would want to know that. If I had more room i would have bought one by now.

The first nasturtium flower has appeared. A few of the alyssum are flowering as well.
