We just stopped and picked up a young Curlew that was sat in the middle of the road. There was another young one with the parents just ahead of us. They proceeded to run away though. Hopefully they get reunited.
I do adore those birds but Jeepers they seem ever so dumb at times.

Plovers are another stupid one. There's a pair of them who nest in strip of grass down the middle of Beaudesert Road every mating season. And every season they start out with a few little fluffballs running around.... which then get run over one by one until its just the parents left.
Another pair tried setting up a nest on our lawn. With 8 dogs in the yard. Luckily they decided on the other side of the fence was a better option.

Yeah they seem to be pretty shit parents too. And yes I've had them in my garden in Victoria Point in the past. Pains up the date for sure. I grew to hate them.
I mean seriously, you're birds and you can fly so FFS go build a nest in a tree.
