I have benevolently given myself another week off (with manager's blessing).
Time to live the life for a few more days.

You earnt it. The man's gonna be sick tomorrow so we're probably gonna go shopping.
8
MeanElevator - 2mon
We may do the same. I love getting stoned and going shopping.
Talking shit and not giving a shit is zen.
Helping oldies and the same time telling people to back the fuck off when their trollies get too close to me. Suburban bliss.
8
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon
Last time I went stoned I walked down the same aisle 3 times and forgot half the shit on my list. I was happy though.
7
Seagoon_ - 2mon
That's just normal for me.
6
anotherspringchicken - 2mon
Have been helping my kid apply for jobs, which has been a really interesting experience. Next step after applying online is for him to do a chat interview with an ai thingy
Now heโs doing a recorded video answering questions. This is trippy
9
Taleya - 2mon
oh nononono. Anything that asks for recorded video should be viewed with DEEP suspicion. Check all the paperwork, chances are you'll find buried somewhere some AI slop bullshit that says they are granted rights to use his voice / face
8
anotherspringchicken - 2mon
Uh oh ๐
4
LowExperience2368 - 2mon
The government and some of the banks do the AI recorded interviews. Wouldn't look very good if they use the data
4
Taleya - 2mon
Doesn't look very good they're doing AI recorded interviews. That's not what LLMs are for
3
LowExperience2368 - 2mon
Yep. I think the AI ones are more for grad programs though.
2
anotherspringchicken - 2mon
This was for casual work at Woolies; it seems to be the go for this type of job
2
LowExperience2368 - 2mon
Wow. I work for a retail company, and have heard from the higher ups that people don't even get considered if they've been filtered out by the AI
2
tombruzzo - 2mon
It's good you're doing this. I remember when looking for jobs explaining to my parents that the local Big W doesn't do it's own hiring and you have to apply online for the head office to look at. Sometimes parents don't realise how much the job market has changed
6
anotherspringchicken - 2mon
Itโs been an eye-opening experience - much different to the process when I last applied for a job
5
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
A few of my recent applications wanted a 60 second video of me telling them why I wanted the role.
Those went straight to the bin.
7
MeanElevator - 2mon
Helped my daughter recently with this. She didn't get shortlisted but good experience.
I feel bad cause the job search process for youngsters is soooo much different than back in my day
As a lover of heist docos and movies, I'm looking forward to this one.
8
anotherspringchicken - 2mon
Youโd think the louvre would have learned after that kerfuffle with the Mona Lisa

Minions, tonight, we steal the moon!

There are not enough good old fashioned heists these days. I blame the younger generations and their addiction to screens, everything has to be online scams, they're not willing to get their hands dirty and go for the hands-on high-value jewlery theft.
5
Seagoon_ - 2mon
a classic
there has been construction and renovation at the museum
the thieves dressed as construction workers and used construction equipment openly

There has been good rain overnight (the garden rejoices) but I managed to miss it all on my morning dog walk. I am taking this as a good omen for the day ahead.

Nothing quite like waking up to the sweet sultry tones of Methaniel mething out in the alley. The warm weather means mating season for the native MethMen has arrived, nature is truly mysterious and wondrous.
8
Seagoon_ - 2mon
I do not miss the Methmen
7
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
Soon youโll be serenaded by the sound of random jacking off! Thatโs their mating call for Methany.

I just told a guy smoking in the supermarket to take it outside and he did. He was out the front when I left but I was holding a bottle of cordial by the neck which has a certain look to it.
6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon
What flavour were you gonna sacrifice?
4
SaneMartigan - 2mon
Strawberry margarita daiquiri mix from the clearance corner of the supermarket. $6, normally $15 at dans. I'm going to freeze it in the creami (noun), then creami (verb) it, then mix tequila. It's Frostbites at home.
5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon
That sounds amazing!

Woke up with a migraine. Bed all day. Luckily I have a physio appointment tomorrow :(

Iโve decided to sell my iPhone and grab a Samsung. Itโs been interesting but itโs really locked down. I have giant thumbs and I canโt even change the keyboard size beyond a tiny fraction.
Itโs 2025!!!!
6
Seagoon_ - 2mon
it is interesting
maybe apple expect users to use predictive text much more, hence they don't care about the little keyboard
also they have ipads which have huge keyboards, I don't know if ipads are as useful as a phone, one thing I know is they don't fit in a pocket or handbag
3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon
Listening to the rain outside is nice.
6
Rusty Raven - 2mon
Driving through it was a bit dreary. I also feel a bit cheated, it was clear when I left Ballarat and I was looking forward to a nice sunrise. Then I hit fog, then rain and its been grey and drizzly ever since with no sign of sun at all.

Yum report. Gyoza lookalikes called mandu done in the airfryer in accordance with instructions on the packet. Delicate crispy skins and creamy delicious insides. Perfect for dipping in a sauce. Strongly recommend. These are going on high rotation methinks.

Korean food is to Japanese good, as Vietnamese is to Chinese.
Slightly improved on somethings but unique in their own way.

There's an Afgan dumpling called maantu which are pretty nice. Served with a tomato/yoghurt sauce.

tomorrow is hair dye day, doing lots of paper work, making appts, reading up on some more physio,
and listening to more frankenstein , I still don't understand the creature's motivation or why Frankenstein ran away
6
SaneMartigan - 2mon
I'm happy to look over any physio or adjacent solutions if you want another opinion in the advice. Someone may as well get some value from my education.
5
Seagoon_ - 2mon
Thank you so much, I'll keep that in mind. n/k

The majority of advice is "do the exercises, uncomfortable is okay, painful isn't"

I think the creature was angry and grief stricken to have been created only for his โfatherโ and the world to fear and despise him (and leave him in isolation).
Frankenstein ran in terror and disgust at what he had created. Also because the creature wanted serious revenge after Frankenstein went back on the deal of making him a female companion and destroyed the creatureโs bride to be rather than finish her.
Itโs been so long and I might not have been able to concentrate long enough to finish the book but I think Frankenstein was constantly on the move and hiding out on that boat (?) because his own rejected and betrayed creation was hunting him down to kill him.
"I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other."
Not sure where I heard this but I think the creature was named Adam.

Godsamn. We had some pumpkins about to turn so we decided to give the food processor a go..
... literally throw your raw fuds in and go. 25 mins later there is soup. Marvellous
6

wondered why I had hayfever, forgot my antihistamine today
all my stuff and prep for tomorrow done, now to make a detailed list for tomorrow's tasks
also I live about 200 m from a large marshland reserve, it's at least 1 km wide. Imma call it the Grimpen Mire after a Sherlock Holmes story, , anyway, the other side there is demolition at one of the old petrochem plants and a few hundred metres past that a new rail bridge is being built.
The sound echoes across the mire. It's strange.

There was general excitement at work today because the new Soul Origin had opened nearby. You know that place always in the middle of shopping centres that sells whatever salads?
Well, a Carl's Jr closed down near work and Soul Origin of all places moved in. This is a free standing building with a drivethrough. I probably won't go over the local cafes too much but at least I can get a coffee after 2 somewhere nearby now
6
Seagoon_ - 2mon
I have found they do really nice food.
3
tombruzzo - 2mon
I'll probably end up having more of it now so I'll be able to develop more of an opinion. My biggest memory with them is i got the chicken schnitzel salad for my kids a while after they started solids and it was weirdly spicy so they couldn't eat it

A relative made us these balls with dessicated coconut on them. There was some coconut in the container so my mum told me to throw it on the grass. Instead of just pouring it on the grass, I let it snow, and the dog jumped off the deck right as it was falling. Dog looked like it had snowed on him. I would've taken a picture but he was not going inside with coconut on him.
