Just saw we are slated for a 37 degree day this coming Thursday, not keen, and this summer is going to be very rough in thinking.

Slight change of Frankenserver plans...
Decided to use my 2x10TB drivers as parity disks as they have less hours than the rest.
Then I remembered I had half a dozen 4TB enterprise SATA drives I got with my server floating around. I'd swapped them out for SAS and SSD, but they're still going to be better than consumer SATA. Checked their hours and it's slightly less than my WD Reds at around 60,000. Between less hours and higher quality, I've gone and popped them in instead.
Also I realised I'm never going to use the CD drive, and 250GB of SSD is a waste of a SATA port... So now it's 6x4TB for storage, 2x10TB for parity, and 2x500GB SSD for cache.
Had to cut and join some extra SATA power leads because the PSU is old enough that half it's connectors were molex and I hate adaptors. Wago connectors and some leads cut off an old PC isn't dodgy right? 😬
