First Just Joey is out:

Fave rose.

Edit: and to celebtrate I'm doing a shitload of mini dim sims for dins.

14
Rusty Raven - 2mon

That's pretty. I don't have any roses at the moment, I'll live vicariously through yours. Is it scented?

4
Eagle - 2mon

Beautiful!

4
PeelerSheila - 2mon

Just Joey! That's my favourite rose too! Mum used to have an extensive garden with some of my favourites (Just Joey, Peace, Black Boy, Queen Elizabeth, Blue Moon among others) but this one was my favourite for its heady fragrance.

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

My mum has a few roses and Just Joey is the only one she knows the name of because it's still got it's tag on it.

4
Seagoon_ - 2mon

That is so lovely.

3
melbaboutown - 2mon

That is glorious. Apricot coloured double bloom. (?) Does it have a nice perfume like the Peace rose?

3
Bottom_racer - 2mon

They smell amazing :)

3
SpinMeRound - 2mon

What a gorgeous rose and an excellent way to celebrate!

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Please blowtorch them lol

3
Bottom_racer - 2mon

lol that reminds me I have to get more butane.

I will blowtorch one just for you :) Need to scratch that itch.

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Thank you lol

2
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

Question of the day: When you take the old sheets off the bed do you refer to that as "stripping"? As in I've stripped the bed ready for the new sheets to go on later or do you call it something else or never thought about it.

Fuck I think that's the 3rd time I've edited my spelling.

13
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

The bedโ€™s naked now

8
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

๐Ÿ˜‚

The bed's raw now.

7
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Thatโ€™s when you go to put the fitted sheet on without checking where the label is lol

4
T156 @lemmy.world - 2mon

Hate it when the bed ends up cooked.

2
Catfish - 2mon

Flay and spank it.

Oops, wrong thread

7
Bottom_racer - 2mon

I flay the bed.

8
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

Interesting

6
SaneMartigan - 2mon

When I crash at a friends I ask if they want me to strip or make the bed.

7
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Always been taking the sheets off for me.

6
anotherspringchicken - 2mon

Yep, have always called it stripping the bed..

6
Rusty Raven - 2mon

I'd say stripped the sheets if I haven't put new sheets on the bed yet, once I've remade it I'd say I changed the sheets.

6
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

I call it "stripping". I suppose "changed the bed sheets" works as well, but I use "strip/stripping" 99% of the time.

5
melbaboutown - 2mon

Yeah I strip the bed and then with fresh linen I make the bed. (Though thatโ€™s meant to refer to putting it back in order in the morning. Maybe it should be make up the bed.) Or I simply โ€˜change the sheets/beddingโ€™

2
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

I need a roast but I also can't be fucked going to get ingredients. There lies the dilemma.

9
SpinMeRound - 2mon

YL's Pick Up Service to be engaged?

6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

She hasn't graduated to picking out the perfect piece of meat yet.

8
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Is she holding watermelons up and tapping them yet or is that a more advanced lesson?

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

She was born doing that. You should know this.

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

I have to admit it does seem genetic ๐Ÿ‰

3
Seagoon_ - 2mon

๐Ÿซฃ

4
Catfish - 2mon

Post free stuff on FB, get a password reset attempt notification at 1am. Thanks Arseholes.

9
Sasha [They/Them] - 2mon

It's a good day. The woolies bins were full of tapioca pudding that hadn't even been unpacked, and I've got a party today. Chocolate pudding for all!

9
PeelerSheila - 2mon

It's amazing what they throw out. After father's Day one year I saw a guy going through the dumpy of my local Woolies pull out a gigantic package of roasting beef, and I mean huge, you'd maybe just fit it into the oven of a small stove like mine. His two dogs certainly looked very appreciative ๐Ÿ˜

3
catalanmercenaries - 2mon

it blows my mind that colesworth put their clearance prices at like 15 cents below full price. no wonder so much food goes to waste.

5
Sasha [They/Them] - 2mon

Oh yeah, I wasn't alone. The lady I ran into there took off with a huuuuge tray of shaved ham, a roast chicken and some massive steaks

4
Bottom_racer - 2mon

Good gig last night.

Never really liked the venue (Brown alley). not sure how i feel about having a mugshot taken. Also no passouts which is odd because they stamp you when you go in. Pretty scathing reviews on google lol. Good sound though.

Last track they played has been a top 3 of mine for years and I don't think I'll ever hear it on a loud rig again so that made it worth it.

8
Seagoon_ - 2mon

mugshot?

that's a big no from me

and would also go to the club owners house and take photos of them

5
Bottom_racer - 2mon

I can understand it from a safety aspect. I think they cross reference it to a database to see if you've caused shit before (both there and elsewhere). But yeah, can't escape it these days :( No passout thing pissed me off.

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Glad you had a good night man!

What was the track?

5
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Iโ€™m so fucking embarrassed that it took me this long to realise I havenโ€™t been singing in my voices natural key. Which is why everything takes ages to learn.

Not any more it seems lol. Iโ€™m singing pretty much every song I like and itโ€™s easy.

Learn music theory!

8
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 2mon

Joni Mitchell took 40 plus years to find out the same thing. She'd been singing falsetto all her life up till then.

5
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

I feel better knowing I'm in good company :)

4
Sasha [They/Them] - 2mon

Ayyyy congrats!

I've learnt this lesson twice over now haha, once to know things were mysteriously easier around E# and then a second time to realise that was only the case when I started using chest voice properly and embraced being a baritone.

1
tombruzzo - 2mon

My girlfriend has finally decided to check out bone conduction headphones. The whole time we've been together she would just play things on her phone constantly because she didn't like things in or around her ears.

She decided to get some bone conduction headphones, completely unprompted given I have a spare pair she could have used. I might finally get some peace and quiet if she takes up using these

8
SaneMartigan - 2mon

So I froze margarita mix then ran it through the Creami and added tequila. Is a margarita daiquiri a thing?

8
Alamutjones - 2mon

My veg guy has mulberries ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

8
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

He must've gone round the mulberry bush early in the morning.

5
Seagoon_ - 2mon

wear gloves

3
PeelerSheila - 2mon

I got woken up around midnight from a really deep sleep because someone wanted a lozenge. But I actually managed to get back to sleep really quickly for once. I've got to go into work because I forgot to fill in my timesheet for yesterday. The boss bought a new cleaning product for the floor and I was enthusiastically testing it out ๐Ÿ˜† so I forgot. Then I'll probably take Miniest shopping for clothes for school camp and the year beyond (no uniforms needed for high school). For now though I'm enjoying that "I don't have to get up yet" weekend vibe.

7
imoldgreeeg - 2mon

I momentarily forgot you had miniPeelers and was so confused by who the mystery midnight lozenge bandit was... I too am enjoying Saturday snoozies but suspect I need a coffee soon!

7
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

Warts on my toes are returning, which would be whatever, but there is now a small one forming on my FUCKING FINGERTIP!! Right on my fingerprint. Like, excuse me? We could have lived in peace, but this strain of HPV has forced my hand.

I bought a nitrous oxide freeze device from the pharmacy. I'm going scorched earth on their asses.

Edit: ha ha ha that was farked

7
melbaboutown - 2mon

B_R has a blowtorch, now Spud has an ice device. Thatโ€™s fire and ice/water.

We only need someone to get a leaf blower or compressed air gun for air and errโ€ฆ something for earth so we can be elemental benders

6
Eagle - 2mon

I'll get the ryobi out of the shed for you if you like!

4
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 2mon

Ceramics class? Pottery certainly qualifies as earth bending.

4
melbaboutown - 2mon

Maybe Taleya with the mortar trowel or a cement mixer

4
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

Oooooo yesss the water benders are my favourite in ATLA and Korra!

3
Eagle - 2mon

Did you do it to yourself?

3
Eagle - 2mon

Oh dear. I have done the can and cotton bud version to the other half and to the child, but I'm not sure I could do it to myself.

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

I go through this endless cycle of installing instagram, zoning out for ages, deleting it so I donโ€™t do it again and then reinstalling a day or two later.

7
Alamutjones - 2mon

Washing done. Dishes done.

Iโ€™m off to the market, and then to get my hair cut

7
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

I bought a warm milk. Was meant to be a cappuccino but I don't think coffee touched the cup.

7
Seagoon_ - 2mon

Morning ๐Ÿ™‚

I have awoken early but surprisingly well , need more sleep tho and maybe take it easy so my back can recover

7
SaneMartigan - 2mon

4:52, that's 6-7hours sleep. That's okay.

Annoyingly, my dog scratched the bottom of my foot by accident but it's making walking painful.

7
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I got to sleep around 10 myself

4
PeelerSheila - 2mon

Good Morning! ๐Ÿ˜€

5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

The lamb has been purchased ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ—ก

6
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I mean yum

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

I'll make it look pretty.

4
Seagoon_ - 2mon

awww

4
Alamutjones - 2mon

Good morning

6
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

Guten Morgen!

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

I wish my body worked with me instead of against me.

Iโ€™m looking at you right shoulderโ€ฆ.

6
Alamutjones - 2mon

You'd have to twist your head all the way round...perhaps that's the issue?

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Iโ€™ll try anything at this stage lol

2
Taleya - 2mon

Good fucking lord those ikea induction plates go like the proverbial

6
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 2mon

Stove? If so, I agree. I've been very favourably impressed with my little induction one plate from Temple & Webster. So useful. Even has a porridge button which I thought very unusual when I got it but does just wonderful rice. The quick boil button is fair frightening how fast it is - at least as fast as a kettle.

4
Rusty Raven - 2mon

The other thing I've noticed with induction is that it doesn't seem to cause things like porridge or eggs to cook onto the bottom of the pan as much. I've got a gas stove here but use an induction hotplate for a lot of my cooking because it just works better. I also just use a stovetop kettle on it for boiling water, I don't have an electric kettle.

4
SaneMartigan - 2mon

My induction absolutely needs a soak for porridge because of a skin stuck to the bottom. It's a very cheap hob rather than an actual stove top.

3
Taleya - 2mon

The portable little $42 induction hobs. 4l in a pot brought to boil in 6 minutes. Yowza

Bonus that i got my expanded clay balls sterilised much faster than i thought though XD

3
T156 @lemmy.world - 2mon

Induction does do that. It's too bad that they tend to have the rather opposite problem where because they go so quickly, a lot of the time, the graduations aren't fine enough to work with.

If it wasn't for the fact that electricity was so expensive (3x the price for power, though an induction stove uses half as much), I'd not mind using an induction hob nearly all the time.

1
Rusty Raven - 2mon

The coffee and date loaf I made yesterday is pretty delicious, but could do with more dates. It's probably just as well I only brought two slices with me to work, if I had the whole loaf I would probably end up eating half of it, it's a bit moreish.

6
rock - 2mon

Coffee and date loaf? ๐Ÿคค Got a recipe?

3
Rusty Raven - 2mon

No recipe. I added a few tsp of instant coffee, a couple of spoons of brown sugar and a little bit of mixed spice to a standard white loaf and added some chopped dates.

2
rock - 2mon

That sounds fantastic, I'll give it a try

3
catalanmercenaries - 2mon

some christmas decorations are already up in stores. thank goodness halloween exists, as a powerful brick wall to stop the christmacization of wesfarmers and colesworth from occuring even earlier.

6
Rusty Raven - 2mon

You just need to stop going to the shops, then you won't have to deal with it. Also no Christmas carol exposure!

4
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

Three reasons to love Christmas:

  1. Spending time with the people we love
  2. Partaking in our favoured vices
  3. Whamageddon

3
Rusty Raven - 2mon
  1. Penalty rates

I think I'm winning Whamageddon. My avoidance of shops means I don't have any Christmas carol exposure, I don't think I've heard that song for years.

4
Catfish - 2mon

I have very possibly found the worst not quite X movie ever. Butch Camp; young Gay guy in denial gets taught straightness by leather Dykes. Too many tropes to count. Hobbits should lock their doors.

6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

โ€œI donโ€™t want to get out of bedโ€

Well, whatever you say brain. Bed it is.

6

5
tombruzzo - 2mon

If anyone lives near a Kaisercraft they're doing 70% off 2026 diaries and calendars at the moment. I got an A5 hardcover page a day diary for $7

5
SpinMeRound - 2mon

Thank you for the heads up!! I checked them out, scored a $2.99 diary... then also picked up a handbag, key chain, mini cooler bag and a dressing gown, lol.

4
tombruzzo - 2mon

I don't know how there are so many stores and how they stay open, they're just full of random cheap crap

3
SpinMeRound - 2mon

It felt so strange, zero cohesion between their range. Is it art, knick knacks, fashion or homeware? Either way, love my spoils, so thank you!

1
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I watched 15 minutes of Judgement at Nuremberg and already started to yell at the telly

time for a walk at the beach

but neighbour 2 doors down is having a garage sale and I got a heap of stuff for the young seagoons for when they come, it can all go in the garage for now

Seeing as at least one person in all of my circles has been to Japan, I'm wondering if anyone here has been as well?

4
tone212_ - 2mon

Yes! Iโ€™ve been a couple of times, last time in 2023. You should mostly definitely go if you have the opportunity. Plus itโ€™s almost 100 yen to every $1 at the moment, thatโ€™s the highest Iโ€™ve ever seen it. You can live it up at that exchange rate.

4
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Awesome! Whereabouts did you go?

2
SpinMeRound - 2mon

Yes, twice and can't wait to go again! Highly highly recommend!!

3
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Ooh yay, where did you go and where do you want to visit next?

3
SpinMeRound - 2mon

I've been to Tokyo and Osaka (and some random day trips out of both). There's soooo many places I'd love to go. Okinawa, Hokkadio, would love to bike along the Shimanami Kaido, take an overnight ferry, properly see Mt Fuji, visit Kamikochi. There's so much!

I'd also really just love to eat 7-Eleven onigiri again.

3
Force_majeure123 - 2mon

Yup. Didn't plan for it but it was cherry blossom season too!

3
LowExperience2368 - 2mon
