Our PM is gracing the streets of Goodna atm... One of the lads sent a selfie with him to the work chat.
I do love that about Australia.... Safe enough that the Prime Minister can just casually duck down to a suburban shopping centre in Goodna, park his sedan up in the car park like a regular dude, and just have a chat to the locals without worrying about getting shot or whatever.
I mean technically his driver parked the sedan, and a couple of dudes in suits with dark glasses on were accompanying him.... but still. Nothing like a theatre of US politics.

I've got a photo somewhere from back in the Gillard years of my cousin being one of those "dudes in suits with dark glasses", standing within metres of Julia Gillard. I think he may have opened the door for her when she got back into her car.
He was not employed as a security guard or anything of the sort. He just...walked on stage acting like he belonged, and they believed it. IIRC he told me something along the lines of being asked by someone "who are you with?" and responding something like "I'm with the state", and that was as far as verification went.
Granted, it's a pretty severe lapse in security protocols. He wasn't the sort to actually want to cause any real harm, just youthful shenanigans to say he did it. But he could have. But it's cool that we live in a society that hasn't actually needed to be super strict in enforcing security protocols.

These damn mornings !!!!
We have a large safety officer at work, he's based in another major city so we see him just on occasion. He's American with a real American drawl. Turns out he was born in Texas so that accounts for the drawl.
I told him where I'd been over there and that I'd been up the twin trade towers. Turns out he was working across the Hudson River and witnessed the second plane crashing. Now that's one heck of a thing to remember.
Noon finish today, looking forward to noon. Have a lovely day.

I'm curious now, large as in tall and or muscular, or.... The more cliche American large and having trouble putting down the fork? And that sure is a heck of a thing to have witnessed first hand!
