On this the 20th anniversary of our wedding, we'll be opening this 2000 carmenere that was a wedding gift. We have no idea what condition it's in, it's spent time packed in boxes, in the bottom of closets, and moved with us from the USA. There's a good chance it'll be garbage, but we're prepared for that, we've got newer wines. 😉
For solids, we've got scotch fillets and sea scallops. 😎
This was our view when we woke up this morning!
Will try to update later with food pics and a report on whether the wine was drinkable.
Update edit: the wine is good! ☺️ Cork came out in 4 pieces but the boss did a fantastic job of coaxing it out without too much carnage.
Also, while we were camping on the beach last night, our kids recreated our wedding cake in cupcake form - pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese icing. They did their mum justice too! 🤤

Haha yeah we've been promising ever since year 5. But we've been through a hell of a lot in the last 5 years and it felt right. So happy that it still tasted good!

Friends in town had a great lunch, a green salad with avocado, asparagus and apple (the 'Hulk'), some Escombros (fried baby squiddies), and I had the Lubina (sea bass) while the other three shared the Valencian Paella (rabbit).
