Radicalisation expert concerned WA sovereign citizen gun crackdown could be 'counterproductive'

In short:

WA Police seized more than 100 guns on the weekend in an operation authorities say was sparked by the shooting of two police officers in Victoria in August, allegedly by sovereign citizen Dezi Freeman.

But a radicalisation expert said the move may "enhance those very grievances of being targeted" felt by sovereign citizens, a group he says is "particularly attuned to being singled out".

Professor Keiran Hardy said sovereign citizens posed a "unique challenge" due to their views on authority and the rule of law.

You're entitled to your opinion, Professor, but I'd rather have 50 cookers with guns than 100 cookers with guns.

Unsurprisingly, the 'expert' didn't say how the radicalised could be de-radicalised, just that this may not stop them being radical.

'We don't believe in the laws of Australia'
'Taking our guns away is unlawful'

Do they hear themselves?
