Azalias are at full tilt:

Weeping cherry on the way out :(

Seagoon_ - 2mon

beautiful

Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

The fan was great for blocking out the construction noises.

That said, I think Fluffball had a harder time of things sadly.

10
SaneMartigan - 2mon

Fluff might only get 21 hours of sleep today?

5
Alamutjones - 2mon

How will she endure under such hardship?????

6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

She has now officially made up for it.

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

4
melbaboutown - 2mon

Melbcat is scared of noise too. I found Zylkene helps a little as do boxes insulated with blankets. If it was really bad Iโ€™d play soft relaxation music or birdsong in the background to try and mask.

LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Metro Tunnel is opening in December!!

(I'm not even going to be a regular patron of it. I just like cool trains)

9
Force_majeure123 - 2mon

I could in theory make use of it but it would be much harder to fare evade

5
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

That is very true. Do you get encounter many AOs when you take PT?

3
Force_majeure123 - 2mon

Every now and then yeh. My daily route is along st Kilda Rd. I just pay attention and touch on when they board ๐Ÿ˜€ that probably only happens once a month

4
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Wow, I thought they would be popping up a lot more frequently around there. They're too busy near Melbourne Central and the city unis targeting poor students.

I've only ever seen them on trains and city trams. I normally take buses and hardly a peep.

3
SpinMeRound - 2mon

Same! I will totally go in to explore all of the stations and ride through the tunnel because I love to see it!

5
tombruzzo - 2mon

I've been wondering when it will open. I've wanted to take the kids

4
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

I am a child at heart who also wants to go

3
Alamutjones - 2mon

I'd like to introduce you all to Kiwi. He's quite chonky for a week old

9
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

Ooo beef or dairy boy? He's adorable! ๐Ÿ˜ Cows are just massive dogs ๐Ÿ˜ญ

4
Alamutjones - 2mon

Beef. He gon get big

6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

You've named him. You can't eat him now.

5
Alamutjones - 2mon

He's going to have a lovely year before then

5
Thornburywitch - 2mon

Someone else may well do so.

5
Rusty Raven - 2mon

He looks like my neighbours.

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Make that 3 interviews this week!

Again universe, I am grateful.

8
Seagoon_ - 2mon

locking the cats out of the room at night has really improved sleep

every little improvement adds up and it adds up exponentially, improvement builds on improvement๐Ÿ˜ธ

8
SpinMeRound - 2mon

This is why Alfie has his own room, I was sleeping like crap because of him and it was hard to train him out of it when he'd had 5 years of naughty behaviour. So he gets his own room, I sleep much better and he doesn't mind it - runs to his room when it's bed time!

6
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I have doors I can jam shut now ๐Ÿ‘

4
melbaboutown - 2mon

Melbcat sleeps in the bed every night and has for 5 years. Itโ€™s too late for me!

4
Bottom_racer - 2mon

bleerrrg

Place next door being built is fkn loud. Basically a massive crater at this point.

Looking at the company who is building it, it will probably look something like ::: spoiler this

:::

Or one of those 'ultra modern' boxes.

According to the plans the pool is going to be bang right up against the fence so I'll be able to jump in when they're not there :) or if I'm nice to them maybe they'll let me use the subterranean indoor cinema which (according to the plans) can seat 15 (!) people lol.

From what I gather this company builds it then tries to sell it so what sort of person would buy something like that (without any input into the design) I have no idea.

8
Seagoon_ - 2mon

ha ha , do bombs off the fence into the pool

and the burbs are full of those now, they aren't brick or stone, it's stucco on foam, hebel if they are doing are it right

also, having actually lived in one of those in europe, albeit an 18th C one, the layouts are awkward and not in tune with modern living, I did like having lots of sunlight and the entrance hall was nice

there were little extra windows everywhere that were made of venetian rose tinted glass lead light , glass so old looking through them every thing looked all wobbly, The wooden floors were old too, in the past they didn't have mortise and tenon joined wood floors, it was just butted and then they would grout between them. After a few centuries the grout was all gone and there were big gaps . Couldn't walk barefoot anywhere as it hurt.

no, I didn't have a cinema, tho there was a cellar. It was dank and cold and would get flooded and had rising damp, it was where the furnace was

5
Bottom_racer - 2mon

That would've been interesting living in a 'real' one!

4
Seagoon_ - 2mon

It was.

the old houses are built for people who are far shorter than modern people, doors are low, rooms small

unless it had very large rooms i wouldn't get one, they aren't conducive to modern life

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Desperate to see physio tomorrow to unlock my shoulder. Have been in a great mood because of diet change but shoulder has restricted what I can do.

Fingers crossed.

7
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

How have you changed your diet? Hopefully you can see the physio soon

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Pretty much completely clean eating so no sugar, very little cars, high protein etc. It's great long term but the first couple of days can be a roller-coaster.

And thanks, I Defs need the physio I fucked up and practiced drums yesterday and today and that was a terrible idea.

4
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Must be good not eating all that metal from the cars ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš˜

6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

2
Force_majeure123 - 2mon

I've heard from multiple sources that removing vehicles from your diet helps in a few ways

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

Removing them is hard work. Not enough fibre.

2
TheWitchofThornbury2 - 2mon

Is that what they meant by 'stealin' watermelons outta my truck patch'?

a classic

2
Seagoon_ - 2mon

My iris plant has a bud, first one, I'm not even sure what colour it will be as it's a bulb I got from the gardeners at the carlton gardens a few years ago

I think it's going to be purple

7
melbaboutown - 2mon

Itโ€™s looking healthy and beautiful

5
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I tend them like babies

5
Rusty Raven - 2mon

I've always loved iris, they are a beautiful flower.

4
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I jumped at the chance to get some rare ones from the Gardens. The ones there are fancy.

and they are very beautiful

4
Rusty Raven - 2mon

I am going to brave Bunnings again. Hopefully they will be a bit less chaotic this time and will have restocked the mulch.

Edit/update: It was a bit less chaotic, except for the manure section which had bags torn open and literal shit strewn everywhere. The mulch was not restocked. I got a few bales of my less preferred brand of sugar cane mulch, but that one is nearly completely out too.

7
melbaboutown - 2mon

I went for another walkโ€ฆ pushing it a bit fast physically and just waiting to have issues again. (Shit area.) But for now Iโ€™m just trying to gently get moving again.

I need to get the summer clothes out I think. Melbcat is loving the sunbeams.

Edit: Also I think the exercise band needs to go back up onto the door, because without regular strengthening I recently got another (thankfully mild) shoulder injury.

Itโ€™s tough. I canโ€™t go too hard but develop problems when Iโ€™m forced to stop moving.

7
Seagoon_ - 2mon

just keep moving ๐Ÿ˜ธ

3
Seagoon_ - 2mon

yay, I got my stuff done today, even with adapting the schedule a little

I feel relief and accomplishment , it was easy tasks but I had to push myself, I am success resistant ๐Ÿ˜ I'm cross because it's because of triggers

7
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

I'm glad you feel relieved! Always a nice feeling after you've done the things you need to do

3
Seagoon_ - 2mon

the achievement is getting into a new schedule

changing chaos into order

::: spoiler My first plant order has arrived box of plants :::

It's mostly natives, plus a couple of lemon trees and some rosemary. I've got a few more perrenial herbs on order too and another box of natives I'm expecting next week. I need to sit down and do a proper planting plan, at the moment I've got a rough mental plan but need to sit down and work out the specifics.

I aim to get the rest of the cardboard/mulch down this afternoon so I can do some planting tomorrow. I got some compost today so I can dig that in when I plant, which will hopefully be enough for the plants to get a foothold. The soil seems to be mostly clay so could have some drainage issues but otherwise doesn't seem too terrible.

7
melbaboutown - 2mon

Oo nice

5
Seagoon_ - 2mon

exciting ๐Ÿ˜Š

4
Pilk - 2mon

Someone has rifled through and broken the returnable meal delivery box I left out overnight. I hope it was someone hungry off the street hoping to find a snack. People suck.

There are two types of songs I like to listen to on Youtube: songs only a few days old with just a couple of hundred views, and songs that are like 15 years old with millions of views.

Sometimes Youtube blesses you with a song that is 15 years old and only has a couple of thousand views.

6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

I like bands that have had more than a decade between albums.

Always ends up being an interesting album.

4
tombruzzo - 2mon

It's always interesting when a band has been active for so long and just hasn't put anything new out. Sometimes its because they have bangers they can ride on for that long, or you get a band like Sleep that had written new songs but just not recorded them.

And it's always interesting to see how close to the old stuff new music sounds after such a long break. Like I feel like with Fear Inoculum it sounded like Tool walked out of the studio in 2006 and just came back and turned everything on in 2019. You couldn't tell there was like 13 years between them, and not in the best way exactly.

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon

Agreed on all points.

I love Tool but that album wasnโ€™t great. I listened to it twice then never again.

Iโ€™ll take lateralus, undertow and aenima any day of the week.

My lovely daughter surprised me with David Byrne tickets at Sidney Myer Music Bowl in January โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

I have questions. How bad are the acoustics there? Can I bring my golf umbrella? Would it look weird to wear a beekeeping outfit to keep the mozzies from feasting on me?

6
Bottom_racer - 2mon

Would it look weird to wear a beekeeping outfit

If going as a fam you do you need to hire a bee outfit for everyone and own the look:

7
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

I can do that

12
SaneMartigan - 2mon

I think you'll appreciate a picnic blanket. Check to see if you can bring a picnic.

5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

Good idea ๐Ÿ‘

4
PeelerSheila - 2mon

Bee keeping suit is ok if you put giant shoulder pads in it

4
Eagle - 2mon

The acoustics are pretty good (I saw Chisel there last November) dunno about the brolly but probably not, and we weren't bothered by mozzies at all, and I live where they are in plague proportions. Are you lawn or in the seats?

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

On the lawn.

2
Eagle - 2mon

We were on the lawn and didn't have any issues. We took blow up seat cushion things and a picnic rug that made it more comfortable

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

Thank you.

3
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

New development in the sleep screaming. Last night we extended to, "What are you doing here? Get out!"

I think this has to do with a fear of an aggravated burglary.

It only has been happening when I get shit sleep the night before.

5
Seagoon_ - 2mon

that's what it is then, it's your lizard brain

i dreamt there were assassins trying to get me

i was going to use poison but wasn't sure if i had enough

3
LowExperience2368 - 2mon

Follow your dreams hey

3
Seagoon_ - 2mon

"men ought either to be well treated or crushed, because they can avenge themselves of lighter injuries, of more serious ones they cannot; therefore the injury that is to be done to a man ought to be of such a kind that one does not stand in fear of revenge."

4
Seagoon_ - 2mon

would love the beach but if do all my chores then i will be less stressed by chores so will need beach less

just ironing out the bugs in the new time organisation

5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon

Brian FM are playing a reverse countdown (1 - 2500) from the most played songs to least. You'll find them on online or on Spotify. Possibly other places. So if you like old and new rock I highly recommend.

Their tagline is: Playing what we feel like.

5
Pilk - 2mon

I wonder if Melbourne Central (the retail bit) is planning on a bit of a dip in sales now that commuters to that area aren't forced to exit through there.

4
melbaboutown - 2mon

Here we goโ€ฆ Iโ€™m getting used to using YouTube in Brave browser while logged out in preparation for the inevitable and have already been barred from listening to a liked song.

I hope YouTube tanks and loses a lot of money

5
Seagoon_ - 2mon

I do youtube in firefox and it seem to be holding up well, i'm not logged in with google tho

5
melbaboutown - 2mon

I use Brave on mobile because it stops the ads.

2
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon

Took me a while to get used to YT in Brave, but I will admit I am logged in ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’€

I think I'll move to Firefox at some point, just because it doesn't use Chromium lol but I'm so lazy

3
melbaboutown - 2mon

It bugs a bit sometimes. I notice sometimes it will zoom in on the video for no reason and I canโ€™t put it back to normal, or the sound will suddenly cut out, or Iโ€™ll start the video and itโ€™ll freeze if I unmute.

2
