Good Mickey!
I was going to say hide your shoes as he might get a little grumpy and leave a present in them but it looks like you're in the clear (for now he may be plotting).
6
tone212_ - 2mon
Aww Mickey! Did he forgive you for being away?
6
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon
Oh yeah, he's been all over us all day. My shadow, everytime he sees us he starts kneading and wanting to be picked up/be on us/near us.
He doesn't seem to be holding a grudge at all, just extremely happy to be home and back with his full-time ape-slaves ๐
7
Seagoon_ - 2mon
What is that look?
What did his carers say, was he fine?
4
StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon
I woke him up from his sleep ๐ he's been extremely happy all day
They said he adjusted really well! He was shy at first, but then really warmed up to the owner and attendants. They described him as a big sweetie
5
Seagoon_ - 2mon
But he is a big sweetie!! ๐ธ

Where is the morning?
Where is the sun? Oh
A thousand years of midnight
The sunrise is gone

Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
From Sunday to Thursday 10pm to 5am there is hard concrete drilling just around the corner from my house.
For 4 weeks.
Laaaaaaaaaaame.
That said Iโm in an amazing mood thanks to old mate tuna, veggies and rice.
8
Seagoon_ - 2mon
ear plugs
3
SituationCake - 2mon
Like Seagoon said, earplugs for sleep, and maybe some white noise to drown it out too. Loop earplugs are great for sleeping, they are made of soft silicone.

tone212_ - 2mon
I am up too late (daylight savings lag) but just relaxing in bed hearing the rain is so nice.
8
Norah (pup/it/she) - 2mon
It's quite pleasant tonight.
6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
Iโll be honest the job search is getting a bit grating.
Will keep smashing through but itโs definitely taking some kind of toll.
8
Bottom_racer - 2mon
Yea it's rough out there.
Gonna be applying again soon myself and seeing how many you've applied for is both inspirational and daunting at the same time. gawd lol.
7
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
I think my industry is tight at the moment so Iโve been looking at different sectors.
I hope it goes well for you man. I take the volume method and apply for anything Iโm qualified for whereas others tailor each resume to each role.
Strengths to each but yeah market is a bit slanted towards employers at the moment.
6
Seagoon_ - 2mon
agencies?
6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
Itโs mainly recruiters in my sector. Iโm having a sook and Iโll keep pushing hard but it definitely gets a bit repetitive.
5
tombruzzo - 2mon
People seem to think every job seeker is employed full time, in no rush to leave their current role, but also has the time to sit through three rounds of interviews. No one wants to acknowledge employment is an economic necessity and some people need a job as soon as possible
3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 2mon
Well said man. Even when I have looked for a role whilst having an existing role, the 3 stage bullshit is a huge pain in the ass.
2
calhoon2005 - 2mon

Back to work after being sick over the daylight savings weekend is a painful combination. I think i need another day off

We're not there yet but i noticed the return to school on the drive in today. Can't wait until I'm feeling up to being on the bike again

It's a public holiday in QLD, NSW, SA, and ACT today. Work is very quiet which is muchly appreciated on this particularly early morning
7
Rusty Raven - 2mon
To coffee, or not to coffee
That is the question
Whether it is wiser on the night shift
To take in caffeine
against the drooping eyelids
Or to struggle on unmedicated
until at home in bed
finally sleeping

shopping was not fruitful on the stationery front, I will have to go to daiso and type
but I did find a pair of framed antique prints that look pretty cool, I will have to clean them up a bit, looks like they've spent the past 50 years at least in a garage
6
Seagoon_ - 2mon
seasonal allergies are bad, even Bill has sore eyes and itchy skin
6
Seagoon_ - 2mon
I fixed up the first print, took it apart, cleaned it all, polished up the frame , looks ok
I found out it's from about 1865 and is an engraving of the new lighthouse on Gabo Island, newly built in 1862
it was framed in Hobart so long ago the business didn't even have phone numbers.

Mr Woof is really into his toys at the moment. In addition to his favourite moose we have a reindeer and hippo hanging out with us. It's very cute, he mostly just seems to like hanging out with them and he will move them in to whichever room he or I are in.
5
CEOofmyhouse56 - 2mon
My dog has adopted an orange duck after his pink bunny went AWOL. It's possibly in YL's room where recovery is slim to none.
2
Rusty Raven - 2mon
Mr Woof seems very good at keeping track of his toys. He's now moved them all to the loungeroom to hang out with us, then he'll move them back to the bedroom overnight.
Got an email from a colleague saying โwhere is this specific thing?โ, which I had sent very clear and detailed instructions about a couple of weeks ago.
Had a slight panic that I hadnโt sent the original information out, but turns out I did and they just hadnโt bothered reading it properly.
Am passive-aggressively ignoring their email for the time being, in the hope theyโll find the info for themselves.
Monday morning after daylight savings change grumpiness for the win
4
Seagoon_ - 2mon
off to do some shopping for stationery, the best kind of shopping ๐ธ
4
SpinMeRound - 2mon
I love stationery shopping. Currently building my washi tape collection and it's marvellous.
3
melbaboutown - 2mon
I took another gentle walk just before, watching out for danger.
There was a honeyeater lying belly up on the footpath!
::: spoiler Ramble about specific subtype of bird
More specifically it looked like a wattlebird?
Not sure if red or yellow wattlebird as I only saw it for a few seconds to note the general appearance, didnโt get much of a look at its head, and mostly noticed the yellow patch on the belly which both types have.
If it was a juvenile the wattles could have been less prominent, and while it looked more like an adult than like the immature chicks, judging by the smaller patch of yellow on the belly it possibly was a younger bird. Maybe a teenager.
:::
Probably hit by a car.
I thought it was dead but as I approached it started moving, and just as I was thinking to call Wildlife Victoria and wondering if there was time to grab a box from home it struggled up and flew away to a high power line.
::: spoiler Speculating about injuries, blood
Nothing looked wrong with its wings so hopefully it was just stunned. There was a little pool of bodily fluid or blood left where its head had been which worries me about head trauma or internal injuries, but I have no way of catching it for treatment now.
:::
So I can only hope itโs okay. Sad thing to happen right after I post about the wildlife rehab nests. :(

StudSpud The Starchy - 2mon
Partner and I watched Final Destination: Bloodlines on the flight back last night. I love the FD films, and this was his first time watching it.
I loved it! I thought it was fun, funny, and perfectly gory. He said after the films "I want to watch all the others!"
Now I'm fucking HYPED to watch them again and see his reactions to them lol
3
Seagoon_ - 2mon
more rain please, it has been quite dry here
3
melbaboutown - 2mon
Trying to keep on the decluttering.
There are some nests I crocheted ages ago (used by sanctuaries to hold birds or other small wildlife) but I made them too floppy to support the animal. I should redo them when possible.
I also need to get back on Mt Washmore.

today's vintage Melodya LP is Sokolov playing Mozart clarinet concerto
an oldie we have all heard many times from many different orchestras but this is like the angels singing
oh lord this home automation thing is a slippery slippery slope
But for those interested:
1- use home assistant. None of this cloud bullshit.
2 - Ikea stuff is Zigbee and you can seamlessly marry it with the above without even looking at their app. Also it is cheaper than any other zigbee stuff by miles.
If you want the easy route:
Tapo. It literally has a "local only" mode so you can deny it any and all internets and it will still work - as long as you're within your local home network.
