The main squeeze and daughter were feeling creative and busted out the filo and puff. We had caramelized onion and goat cheese tarts, Caprese scrolls, spinach dip with pita chips, and cowboy caviar - corn, blackbeans, roasted capsicum and tomato, avocado and diced chorizo for dipping corn chips in.
And the thing de resistance, crinkle pie. It's scrunched up filo in a dish, with slices of brie and fig preserves spread over it, then savoury lemon thyme egg custard poured over it and baked. It's like god crapping in your mouth, and definitely a sometimes food! 🤤

It's decadent and dangerous, because you can do any flavours you like - diced bacon and blue cheese, brie and pear, Caprese. It all works with buttery pastry and egg. 😉

Oh man, your fried rice looks good!
Last time i tried making fried rice i made this recipe that said it was traditional Indonesian fried rice, but it was full of carrot! The carrot made it so sweet, i don't think i did anything wrong with the recipe, but it was like no fried rice i'd ever tasted.

I was just using up what I had.
Bacon, a carrot, the tail of a bag of frozen peas and corn, various colours of capsicum because I’ve always got a tub of misc diced capsicum in my fridge. Garlic, soy sauce and finished with a splash of sesame oil.
It worked well

I made a satay beef curry kind of thing to serve with rice. Was the kids first taste of satay and even the family member who didn't like peanut buttery things thought it wasn't bad.
