Off and away out of town again for the birthday of an old family friend. Not sure of the wisdom of being in Brisbane on the same day as the Lions in the final AND the Broncos playing a home semi in the NRL .... At least I am getting really good at this travel malarkey again. I used to travel a lot in an old job but I had gotten rusty.

8
Seagoon_ - 3mon

Bon voyage ๐Ÿ˜ธ

tone212_ - 3mon

In 2016 I went to the Grand Final. My team was playing for the first time in the GF since Iโ€™d been alive but I wasnโ€™t a member, basically impossible for general public to get a ticket. I saw a ticket advertised for sale at like 1pm on the day on a fan group on Facebook. It was about 20% more than the cost price. In hindsight, most people probably thought it was a fake but it was a physical ticket and paying in person outside the MCG, I thought that seemed safe. Got to my seat around midway through the first quarter, so missed all the pre-game stuff. But then my team won and it was just such an incredible atmosphere and great day. I wonโ€™t forget it.

that sounds awesome

Road trip day! And breaking out the glam tent. Hope it hasn't gone funky since it's last excursion.

5

The camping is incidental to the birthday party that he totally ought be at. I'll live.

Mate, let them rip inside the car. When they open the window, complain that its cold.

5
SituationCake - 3mon

Had a bit of unfun morning with headache and upset gut. Seems to have mostly resolved now which is nice. Iโ€™m planning to refresh a couple of pots around the deck with some punnets of flower seedlings. A load of washing or two and then a lazy afternoon.

7
SpinMeRound - 3mon

The ballet has been watched and the hot pot meal devoured. May have had a bit much spicy for my tum, but we'll see! All round an excellent day and traffic was EXCELLENT. Getting and out of the city was just about the easiest run I've had!

7
calhoon2005 - 3mon

Ahhh, the ballet

8
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Okay full confession: I forgot there was no speaking/singing in ballet. I remembered 20 seconds into the performance but I definitely had "ohhhh yeah" moment.

3
MeanElevator - 3mon

Where did you end up parking?

3
SpinMeRound - 3mon

We went to Panda Hot Pot and there's an RMIT/public parking garage right behind it, so just parked there. Super easy!!

2
MeanElevator - 3mon

How good does a city parking win feel?

It's like 40% of the good feels from a city trip, no?

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Suchhhh a win! Probably could have scored some street parking, but I had a plan and was thrilled when it worked out.

2
Seagoon_ - 3mon

What did you see?

How was the orchestration and how was the choreography?

Was it a good show?

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

We saw Dracula! It was interesting! The music was a jukebox of classical pieces. The Brides, Dracula and the Wife were amazing, the Husband was great but a little wooden compared to the rest. Fantastic use of lighting and great set pieces. There was sadly less cape tossing than I was hoping for!

The crowd was amazing though, so many fantastic outfits.

At the hot pot place we saw a performance of face changing and it was so well done!

2
Seagoon_ - 3mon

That sounds really interesting and modern. ๐Ÿ‘

I think in the original story the husband is meant to be repressed.

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

That's an interesting point!! It was more that he was very focused on the dance and when he was interacting with others you could tell he was paying attention to where his hands were. However he was still great to watch!

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

Fed, fat and happy!

Nap time then make some plans.

7
Briongloid - 3mon

Channel 7 doesn't support my DisplayPort cable.

6
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

Do you have a newer HDMI cable? If you do try that.

4
Briongloid - 3mon

Turns out it doesn't work on the laptop screen either, completely unavailable for Linux.

2
MeanElevator - 3mon

Productive and relaxing day.

Grocery shopping and house cleaning done.

Quick nap, good Japanese restaurant for dinner

Few drinks, few puffs and the new Fantastic 4 movie at home with the family.

Seeing my wife and kids snuggled under blankets across the couches, fills me with immense joy.

Kids are almost adults but they'll always be my babies.

6
PeelerSheila - 3mon

So today I managed 11,522 steps and most of that was done while watching the TV. I was determined to not sit idle so I grabbed some small hand weights and did some of the step exercises from the routines I've done that I don't mind. I basically did that on and off all day, whenever I was in the lounge room and while watching the Grand Final. My kids are used to me doing odd things so they didn't think anything of it lol. Also I don't really want to become a calorie counter but I'm starting to learn how much exercise it takes to burn the kilojoules and it makes me more conscious of whether I'll have that lamington/licorice allsorts or not. My clothes are starting to fit differently and I'm really pumped for that!

6
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

Fuck yeah!!!!

Great work :)

7

I donโ€™t care what the occasion is, Iโ€™ll take a long weekend even itโ€™s to celebrate underwater basket weaving. But good luck to those whose teams are playing today!

4
Force_majeure123 - 3mon

Exciting game! All tied up at half time. Go Cats! ๐Ÿ˜ป

5
tombruzzo - 3mon

It was so close for so long I suspect some Lions players may have bet on themselves

5
melbaboutown - 3mon

Itโ€™s been 3 days since the antibiotic shot and Melbcat is still sore :( Iโ€™ve given her medicine and cuddles which seem to have helped. The vet says to call back Monday if sheโ€™s not feeling better.

Iโ€™m still fighting urges to kidnap the black cat. I do think heโ€™s possibly someoneโ€™s neglected free range pet though, as there was a parted line in his neck fur where a collar used to be and his fur wasnโ€™t patchy or sparse (as happens when a cat is very malnourished).

Iโ€™m hoping that the weird protrusion I felt in his upper back that made me worry about his spine was a microchip. ๐Ÿคž Iโ€™ll be watching him and trying to get a better look over to see if he stays healthy or something indicates he does need help.

If I could know for sure that he isnโ€™t receiving flea and worm medication at home (unlikely to be happening) I could possibly try to dab him with one of Melbcatโ€™s spot ons. They look to be similar weights. I have to be careful not to get attacked though.

For large cats like him and her the tube has a lot more liquid than standard, so needs to be put on in a few different spots or it dribbles off. This takes longer and requires more handling, and some cats do react violently to the application.

Also if heโ€™s constantly outside eating rats and birds and rolling in the dirt, I wonder if heโ€™d just quickly get reinfested.

::: spoiler spoiler Flying Spaghetti Monster help me if he belongs to the crazy arsehole neighbour and Iโ€™m forced to intervene ๐Ÿซฉ :::

5
Seagoon_ - 3mon

I'm up.

I've had my porridge with oat milk

generally I'm still trying foods to see if I can eat them

I'm good with home made food, I make my old recipes with adaptations and they often turn out just as delicious

but sadly much pre-made food is just no go, including chocolate

gummy sweets are still good but I should eat far less

5
Catfish - 3mon

? There loads of no dairy choc available or is something else playing up?

5
Seagoon_ - 3mon

I haven't looked for non dairy analogs specifically as yet

I'm just reading labels more and abstaining from the obvious

3
SituationCake - 3mon

Lots of dark chocolate blocks are dairy free, including some Lindt and Aldi ones. No substitutes in them, just dairy free because itโ€™s dark choc.

4
Catfish - 3mon

Exactly. My choc taste kicks in at about 70%. 85 is perfect.

3
melbaboutown - 3mon

If youโ€™re talking about Aldi Choceur theyโ€™ve added milk powder to the dark one now. I checked the flavours a little while ago and didnโ€™t see one without dairy.

The Old Gold 70% has a small amount added too as does the Coles Belgian dark chocolate block and the generic cooking chocolate blocks.

The very dark Lindt chocolates in the thin blocks might be a safe bet but I still like a little fatty creaminess to the dark chocolate and these ones are a little sharp and dry.

There is Sweet William dairy free chocolate but it contains inulin which can trigger symptoms.

There are the vegan ones but expensive. Loving Earth taste waxy with the coconut oil.

Iโ€™d have to say the Vego bar is the tastiest dairy free chocolate bar if you can find it

1
melbaboutown - 3mon

Youโ€™ve probably thought of this but I did a homebrew elimination diet to identify the worst offenders

2
Seagoon_ - 3mon

Home from the beach, it was really lovely down there. A bit windy so I put my hair in a pony tail and it was warm in the sun.

Took a nice pic of the city, found some nice shells and saw a flock of small sea birds that I hadn't seen before. As small as sparrows and so cute. I think they were Wood Sandpipers.

I'm not sure if you can see the birds in this photo, they really were very small. They are on the sand.

5

Not the best ever selection this year, though I didn't know that drinking alcohol improves one's ability to speak a foreign language. Proven by scientists. It's hard to beat the electrified chopsticks of 2023 imo.
