Interview 1 in 20 then phone screening straight after!

Something hit me last night at 3am:

If things had turned out differently I would have been planning my funeral.

Sober thought.

12
Seagoon_ - 3mon

8
LowExperience2368 - 3mon

We are glad you're still with us. You've got this mate โค๏ธ

6
anotherspringchicken - 3mon

Good luck! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

4
melbaboutown - 3mon

I get it. Been there. I really hope fresh avenues open up for you bro.

4
tombruzzo - 3mon

We'd much rather you here. The job search sucks so I'm glad you're feeling positive about things.

2
Bottom_racer - 3mon

Getting closer to full swing:

11
Seagoon_ - 3mon

that's lovely, you have such a beautiful garden

7
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

I'm the only one in the entire family who likes partner's dad's music, because it's basically just Gold FM ๐Ÿ˜‚

9
Bottom_racer - 3mon

Gold FM these days just makes me feel old. Not because the music is old... because a lot isn't.. sometimes a banger comes on from my youth and I'm sitting there wondering if it's the right station heh.

5
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

It do be that way. I sometimes do a double take like "wait I thought this was gold? Oh I'm old ๐Ÿ˜ญ"

And I did mean Gold FM as it was in the 90s ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

5
Seagoon_ - 3mon

I don't listen to radio

only in shops and more often than not it annoys me

I always think to myself "would shops have played Doris Day and Bing Crosby in the 80s"?

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

The radio music in stores are generally just abominable lol

4
Bottom_racer - 3mon

I dunno local woolies was playing Ace of Base the other day and it was difficult not to groove shop.

5
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

Because Ace of Base are AWESOME

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

I saw the siiiiiggggnnnn.

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

AND IT OPENED UP MY MIND I SAW THE SIGN

3
PeelerSheila - 3mon

I heard KISS on Gold at work. KISS! And Bon Jovi on Smooth. I damn near had a crisis.

2
Seagoon_ - 3mon

Happy Hobbit Day.

I think I will watch the movies today.

and I earned my keep. ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคซ

a few months back I bought some men's merino jumpers at the op shop, they were brand new with tags, very good brands, they were really lovely, cost $10 in total

but they didn't fit husband so I gave them to BIL without telling him they were op shop, he didn't need to know, they were actually new and I had washed them too

yesterday he came to visit , said he liked those jumpers so much he gave me $200, I protested a lot , of course said nothing about op shop as he wouldn't approve.

now I'm $190 up ( but I did find them and buy and then gave them to him and he does hate shopping )

score ๐Ÿ‘

9
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

So that's $200 worth of books?

How does one celebrate Hobbit Day?

6
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Second breakfast. Elevensies. Basically lots of food, drinks, books and living your best life.

4
SpinMeRound - 3mon

That's a win, good on you!!

4
Seagoon_ - 3mon

BIL won too, he got $400 of jumpers for $200

5
tone212_ - 3mon

Love a good op shop find!

2
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

NOICE

2
PeelerSheila - 3mon

So for the evening's entertainment the Minipeelers and I have made a chocolate cake and "decorated" it lol

Many emoji poops were made ๐Ÿ˜‚

Edit: we all had a go and it actually is a tasty cake, simple to make and very rich ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿผ

8
imoldgreeeg - 3mon

That looks like a lovely poo cake ๐Ÿคญ

6
SaneMartigan - 3mon

It's Jewish new year today, honey cake is the traditional choice. I had some, it was okay, I wasn't all ohh honey cake, this is what its all about.

3
PeelerSheila - 3mon

Ah, TIL. My calendar is from the zoo and it's a bit patchy on cultural events, but will tell me stuff like it's the international day of the cassowary lol

3
Taleya - 3mon

Is that the day of screaming and dying? Cassowarys are terrifying megafauna

2
PeelerSheila - 3mon

Not sure, calendar says it's the same day as the grand final public holiday so maybe ๐Ÿ˜†

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

That looks so tasty!! Mind sharing the recipe?

2
PeelerSheila - 3mon

Sure, it's this one. It turned out very nicely, was a simple recipe for Miniest to help with and I'll definitely be making it again ๐Ÿ˜€

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Going to the ballet on Saturday and am very excited! Except it dawned on me that that it's on at the same time as the Grand Final. Do you guys think city parking will be affected much by the Grand Final? I'm assuming places like Crown will be way busier than usual because of all of the AFL centric events they have. I was thinking of parking somewhere in the northern CBD since we'll probably have dinner that way after the show.

8
Bottom_racer - 3mon

I always avoid the CBD on GF night so all I can say is good luck :)

7
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Thanks, me too. Bought the tickets months ago without thinking too much about the date!

2
tone212_ - 3mon

I wouldnโ€™t drive in the CBD on GF day, it will be manic. Is PT an option? Parking northern CBD works if you donโ€™t need to drive through the CBD. But expect time limits for street parking.

5
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Unfortunately PT into the city isn't an option due to some very stubborn people, that would be my preference as well! PT in the city is (marginally) acceptable though.

I think I'll try and book a parking garage that end and see what happens.

3
tone212_ - 3mon

I know those types of stubborn people too. Thereโ€™s lots of parking garages in Carlton then easy tram in. Should be able to cheap weekend rates too.

4
MeanElevator - 3mon

We usually park in North Melbourne (Victoria/Roden St) on weekends and never had problems finding spots. Free parking after 1230.

3
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Thanks for the tip!

3
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

Going down to Bussleton today for a few nights with the Partner's Family. Should have better reception down there so I'll post some piccies :D

8
Force_majeure123 - 3mon

Woo! I had my school leavers in Busselton ๐ŸŽ‰ get some nice jetty pics

4
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

It's an amazing place! Last time I was in Perth we flew in and out of Bussleton. I went on the little train on the jetty and the aquarium at the end! It's utterly beautiful!!! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

2
SaneMartigan - 3mon

I went to the drug testing centre in Fitzroy on the weekend. I found some drugs in the park a while ago and wanted to see what they were. More as a curiosity than as a fiend. Turns out it was shit meth so I ditched it. But it was a great facility, friendly, clean, professional. I was open about how I got the drugs and they were happy to be able to test them for the purposes of harm reduction.

8
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

A shitty meth; the breakfast of derros

4
SpinMeRound - 3mon

I'm glad curiosity kept the cat safe in this round! Super cool though.

3
LowExperience2368 - 3mon

Happy First Official Day of Spring!!!

๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ

7
SaneMartigan - 3mon

10% off at Dans and Liquor-land if you want to restock the bar.

7
Taleya - 3mon

oh that's downright dangerous to pull on GF week

7
LowExperience2368 - 3mon

Well I sleep screamed last night again, except this time I had this imagery that someone came into my room and woke up on the last scream shaking. Dog came on my bed trying to lick my face. I wonder if it's just stress. I was stressing about an assignment yesterday, but I know how I'm going to approach it. It's not fun to get stressed and overwhelmed so easily.

7
Seagoon_ - 3mon

so I had a 3 hour sleep, just had some chicken cottage pie for dinner, think I will have another rest/sleep now

I suppose strong allergic reactions are like being poisoned and take time to recover from

7
imoldgreeeg - 3mon

Absolutely. You need rest. And lots of water

4
Taleya - 3mon

I was slightly late with cat dinner. Misha is jingling her collar disapprovingly at me.

7
Rusty Raven - 3mon

Mr Woof was very adamant that I not have another sleep in day today. But now I'm on the couch he's snoozing on my lap and pinning me so I can't move.

6
Seagoon_ - 3mon

woke up in coughing fits, throat not good, gasping,

am up, had an allergy tablet, some vegemite on rice thins and a black cup of warm tea

I had had a few spoons of tiramisu at around 10 , just a few spoons, hardly any at all, maybe 50 mls

when will I learn this allergy is real

not worth it โ˜น๏ธ

1 hour later, feeling a lot better, will try to sleep again

6
melbaboutown - 3mon

There needs to be a way to make mini dairy free versionsโ€ฆ Evil dairy, leave her alone!

4
imoldgreeeg - 3mon

Oh hugs. Allergies are shite especially to something as common as dairy

4
Seagoon_ - 3mon

my gullet is very sore still

had some panadol and am going to rest some more

this is not fun

4
tombruzzo - 3mon

I made my own alphabet poster to teach the kids how to read. I just picked up some copies because I got it printed and laminated. It will be interesting to see how the kids take it

6
PeelerSheila - 3mon

That's so cool! I did the same with my kids, with pictures of things they're actually interested in/are relevant to them. Once you start looking at alphabet stuff you notice all the different things in ones that aren't produced locally.

4
tombruzzo - 3mon

That's why I made my own flash cards so I could use photos of things they actually have or are around. I figured it would be easier for them to recognise something like a bus if it was the same one they see around.

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

Learnt a new song.

Right where it belongs by nine inch nails.

Nice to have new one for open mic nights!

So I started thinking:

If I didn't have the time anymore, what would I regret not doing.

Now I'm doing it. It's going OK.

::: spoiler Art ramble

I found a review on the other place about water soluble oil paints and apparently the brand they tried was quite thick which would work nicely for me.

However the upshot was that cleaning with soap and water alone was possible, it was very slow and inefficient so the person ended up using mineral spirits to clean the brushes. Which I could do outside afterwards in a disposable container and then let it evaporate outside to then dispose of the solids in the bin or through the council.

However I donโ€™t have that many brushes so might need to clean my brushes between colours, and itโ€™s not practical for me to be outside the whole time.

Also the mixture doesnโ€™t maintain integrity and stability when thinned with water, so I would still be dealing with linseed oil and the flammability involved.

Iโ€™ve been trying out an oil painting technique using coloured pencils insteadโ€ฆ The idea and some of the effect is the same but letโ€™s say while the medium is much safer and more convenient (especially working from bed) it leaves a lot to be desired. Despite careful sharpening and patient light handed layering thereโ€™s still patchiness and weak colour payoff.

Seagoon_ - 3mon

I know that oils is nice because it's slow drying but it's difficult to clean up and spirits and turps is toxic as hell

and careful where you point that thing

5
melbaboutown - 3mon

Yeah. Even have to think about that with โ€œwater solubleโ€ type whichโ€ฆ defeats the purpose.

Acrylics are just not nice

4
Seagoon_ - 3mon

agree, to my eye and experience they don't have that beautiful translucency that oils have

4
melbaboutown - 3mon

Realising that a game I used to play for years and really rely on as a constant through tough times is becoming more of a negative stagnant place for me :/ Itโ€™s becoming repetitive and depressing as I realise a lot of it is padding, meaningless busywork to substitute for the lack of new content.

Itโ€™s a shame because thatโ€™s where I was going to spend more time once all my other online spaces are taken away.

Obviously the answer to this is to touch grass. But honestly my irl area is even more toxic. So no. Iโ€™m not spending what little physical energy I have now to end up unsafe and stressed.

Then I guess I better get un-artblocked real quick huh? Because the only thing I ever reliably have is myself.

5
Seagoon_ - 3mon

Don't forget to have fun.

I really struggled to get moving this morning, especially when right as I was ready a band of rain came across and make my bed feel extra dextra cosy.

MeanElevator - 3mon

My 630 alarm was dismissed and my 7 am one was turned off. Managed to get up around 720 but still stiff and hateful of things I need to do.
