PeelerSheila - 3mon

The aquarium was lovely but it did make me a little sad in some ways. The kids loved it though. I got to see some sea dragons and horses (my favourites) and tonnes of their babies ๐Ÿฅน

Loved the jellys when I went ages ago.

Felt a bit sad too when I saw the penguins. I know it's a conservation thing as well as an attraction, but poor things really didn't have much space.

6
PeelerSheila - 3mon

That's what got to me too, and the sharks: they used to have a whole ocean and now they've got a tank. Still, one penguin couple had an egg!

So they must be a bit happy. Though I think these guys wanted us dead

5
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Aw, thanks for the photos! Glad it was a nice day, even if a little sad.

6
Seagoon_ - 3mon

yes, totes awesome photos ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

4
Seagoon_ - 3mon

looks great

but as you both say, it's also a little sad

Are we at "Silent Running" yet?

I think we are on the road to Soylent Green.

imoldgreeeg - 3mon

Hello, fellow kids. I'm back. Slept 16 hours after the flight from Europe. Amazing trip. Work stuff was great, Paris was lots of fun and the Alps were so beautiful even though I had a bit of a lurgy.

But discombobulated now though. Need food, wash clothes and moooore sleeeeps. Happy to be home. We have the best food. And I missed my bed.

12
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Welcome back!! Glad to hear it was amazing!! Coming home to your own bed is always an extra special feeling though!

4
Seagoon_ - 3mon

so many hugs

we missed you ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿซ‚

Today we attack the remaining trellis and jasmine.

Still no word from the neighbour on the fuckn fence that blew over. The builders doing the renos next door propped it up from their side (without telling me what they've done) so I've propped it up from our side (again). It's like a battle to see which way it'll fall over next lol. I will be victorious.

In better news. Weeping cherry almost there:

Over the years it's slightly earlier every year.

11
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Ooh please share a photo when it's in full bloom. It's so pretty!

Woo! Just found out horrendous Real Estate agent has been liquidated. Wish more juicy details were available but just their deletion is fantastic on its own ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

SpinMeRound - 3mon

Sunday, hello!

9
Rusty Raven - 3mon

It appears most people are not up to greet Sunday. Choosing the sleep in option perhaps?

8
Catfish - 3mon

Trying and failing

6
Rusty Raven - 3mon

I've still got over an hour before I can head to bed. It's going to be so great. I set up my bed fan so if I start to get a bit warm later in the morning I can cool down again, so hopefully I'll be able to snooze until sometime this afternoon. Mr Woof and Miss Meow are usually on board for daytime bed snuggles too.

9
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

I like your idea and may co opt it!

Perth doesn't seem to have a daily thread unless I'm blind. Here's some piccies

::: spoiler mushroom :::

::: spoiler Floreat beach

:::

I have now confirmed I do not like the beach (loud waves, sand, I get over stimulated and annoyed). I'm a river girl

8
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

I am supposed to like sand.

I do not.

So I feel your pain.

5
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

I HATE SAND

5
Norah (pup/it/she) - 3mon

Your nail polish gives off very witchy river vibes (/pos).

5
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

Thank you! My 5yo niece picked the colour (it's her favourite) โ˜บ๏ธ

5
Seagoon_ - 3mon

awesome, you found a ram's horn shell , they are an ocean shell, not a bay shell

4
StudSpud The Starchy - 3mon

Thank you!! I was hoping you would know! I thought it was the coolest shell! I left it on the beach :3

3
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Stayed up way too late last night after being at a friend's place until midnight and it's made today feel like a total write off. This is why we need three day weekends!

35/50, there were 5 of us playing ๐Ÿ˜‚

5
SpinMeRound - 3mon

15/50 - again not trusting my gut enough.

3
Seagoon_ - 3mon

they got one of the answers wrong

it's an ( often secret ) escape door in the floor that you lift with a wrought iron ring or a rope loop handle

and it pertains to all structures, not just castles

I just read both meanings are true

mmkay

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

35/50

2
anotherspringchicken - 3mon

40/50 - very good for me!

1
Rusty Raven - 3mon

My sleep in plan worked beautifully. My furry overlords decided 3pm was enough sleep though and jumped on me until I got up.

7
LowExperience2368 - 3mon

So I went to the optometrist yesterday, and they quoted $275 just to pop out a lens and put in a new one with a slightly stronger prescription. Ridiculous. Luckily we have private health, which covers most of that amount, but yikes

6
Norah (pup/it/she) - 3mon

That's insane, my local optometrist would pawbably do that for free. I recently got new lenses for my frames and those were installed for free as far as I recall. Though I did order the lenses through them.

4
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

Been a while since I've woken up with a headache. Might be a bed day today :(

6
Seagoon_ - 3mon

need more back rest , โ˜น๏ธ, just a bit, also had some panadol

6
Taleya - 3mon

Bwaaaa 'mfulla pizza and gonna exaplooooooode

5
melbaboutown - 3mon

Is this the Sunday Scaries? Iโ€™m having the shittiest time.

5
melbaboutown - 3mon

More Marie Kondo-ing and laundry.

Iโ€™m wondering if I should donate the normal cat food Melbcat shouldnโ€™t be eating or keep it just in caseโ€ฆ Sheโ€™s currently on a special low phosphate food that she likes, but it could also be causing stomach upsets. ๐Ÿ˜ข

5
Seagoon_ - 3mon

I usually give unwanted cat food to neighbours with cats

4
melbaboutown - 3mon

I usually donate unwanted stuff in good condition/unopened to the vet because they give it to clients who need it.

Maybe Iโ€™ll give them like half of it now and see if Melbcatโ€™s stomach settles before donating the rest

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

Today we watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Big Lebowski and currently watching Being John Malkovich. Is there anything else like these that we should watch?

5
Force_majeure123 - 3mon

Have you seen Train to Busan? It's another English language film much along the same lines as the ones you've listed

4
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

No I haven't. Is it a comedy?

3
Force_majeure123 - 3mon

Umm... I suppose there are people who veiw it that way

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Do you mean Bullet Train? Train to Busan is a Korean zombie movie, Bullet Train is an action/comedy Brad Pitt movie.

3
Force_majeure123 - 3mon

No I mean Train to Busan ๐Ÿ˜€

2
SpinMeRound - 3mon

Having never seen either, okay! ๐Ÿ˜€

2
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

A movie called Paris Texas. It left a big impression on me but you might want to read the synopsis in case itโ€™s not your thing.

4
Taleya - 3mon

How are you on Wes Anderson?

3
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

Yeah I've seen a few of his movies.

2
Taleya - 3mon

Check out Rushmore if you haven't already

2
CEOofmyhouse56 - 3mon

Will do ๐Ÿ‘

1
Seagoon_ - 3mon

Blues Brothers

UHF with Al Yankovic

3
Gibsonhasafluffybutt - 3mon

Headache cleared up thankfully.

Decided to go back to basics with guitar. Sometimes you can get caught up trying to make something sound โ€œcleverโ€ instead of expressing yourself.

Too much thinking where there shouldnโ€™t be any, or very little.

belated second review of the movie The Brutalist

this movie stayed with me, I have been thinking about it a lot

My second thought was it wasn't about the artist or art but about the nature of freedom and the innate nature of human behaviour

my third thought is it's about the artist in different environments and how he sees the world, how he reacts and acts differently to other people, all artists

Every character in this movie lives in pain, suffers abuse because of who they are, they might be a writer, gay, hetero, black, young, old, Jewish, male, female, a manual labourer, a desk worker,

And the abuses the characters suffer are interpersonal, one on one.

But in America there are no cats , whoops, wrong movie. In America there is freedom. ( any political abuses people are suffering now are masked in lies and are unconstitutional ) The federal government doesn't restrict people because of who they are. yes, there is a history but there is also a history of more and more freedoms enjoyed by more and more people. It's an imperfect but improving system.

The artist is different because he expresses the pain in his art, not just his pain but the pain of all who suffer under a repressive government. And those repressive governments might make people suffer , even kill people but they can't stop love.

When governments and civilisations fall and are forgotten people will still see the art and see love.

so I suppose it's about the limits of freedom, freedom doesn't direct all interpersonal interactions, and how some people are driven to artistic expression

( Opinion here, I think people will generally act the same regardless of laws, they will find ways to be good and to be bad within the laws )
