Even if I was a threadworm?!

If you've got an itchy bottom, threadworms might be the cause. 🍑

Threadworms are tiny white worms that can live in the lower intestine. They move to the anus (bum) when they want to lay their eggs. This usually happens at night and can make you pretty itchy down there.

Anyone can have a threadworm infection, but it mainly affects children.

You can help stop your child getting a threadworm infection by:
🪱 encouraging them not to scratch
🪱 keeping their fingernails clean and trimmed
🪱 encouraging them not to bite or suck their nails
🪱 encouraging proper hand washing and daily showering.

Threadworms are treated with over-the-counter medicine, available from your pharmacist.

To prevent the spread of threadworm, treat the whole family at the same time, even if they don't have symptoms.

Worm fact: even though worms don’t have eyes, they can sense light. Got any more worm facts, Queensland Environment and CSIRO? (And would you love me?) :::
