I'm glad the activists made an effort to clarify to the employees that the action is targeting the company's contract and not the workers.

A big mistake of some activists is to overlook the importance of workers in our industries and risk alienating them or even blaming them for systematic issues. One of the great things that the Port Botany ZIM protests did was have socialist groups use MUA links in the CPA and Solidarity (+ possibly other groups?) to make sure the employees knew beforehand the reasons for the protest and that the shift-blocking protests wouldn't impact their pay due to how their contracts worked. This meant that employees generally either approved of or tolerated the protests. We saw something different happen in Melbourne, where in later days some of the activists seemed to want to fight against the employees who were going to work (unless I misremembered). And some anti-coal activists also neglect the importance of working with coal employees, luckily some of the groups emphasise demanding the government to adopt transition plans for training coal employees for other energy jobs. That way, you're not needlessly making enemies of the working people and allowing in-routes for bosses' propaganda.
