DiaDeLosMuertos - 4mon

Well some damn fantastic news yesterday. I have 100% secured finance for a block of land. It has been going on for many many weeks. Very damn stressful at times. I hope I never have to apply for another home loan, or any loan ever again.

The broker stated that it has been the most difficult one he has ever done, and that he has been doing this for a long time. He copied me into an email to my solicitor and in that he told her that it has taken 10 years off his life. Lol. Bless that man, he got it through in the end.

A friend of mine first offered to sell me this block back in June. So yes it's been a bit of a journey. So to celebrate I drank a few too many last night and now it's the morning and I'm off to work. Uuuuuuurghhhh. I could work tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I won't be participating in that. I used to do overtime all the time as a young bloke. I am no longer a young bloke.

Well, I'm on a bit of a high due to my great news, of that there is no doubt.

Have a lovely Friday, enjoy the weekend and the rest of your days. X

Congratulations on the block!

Now on to the really stressful part.... building a house. Here's a tip, don't watch that Site Inspections dude on YouTube. You'd never try building with an Australian company ever again lol. Everything is noncompliant.

My mother in law built using one of those off-site fabrication places. They installed the footings, then some weeks later the house rocked up on two trucks and was installed in a day. We left for work in the morning with no house, came home to a finished house. Insane.

Probably a little harder on an island of course, what with the large body of water between here and there...

Thanks mate. I have a big shed on order. 60 months interest free from Stratco. 10 metres by 6 metres. A slab for that will go down. I might also get the septic done. Then that's all my money gone.

So I'll be building over the next few years simply using whatever income I have left.

I've wanted to build my own house for decades so this is my dream coming true.

Also. There's plenty of those fold out type houses here. I've also been in one that was fully prepared in China then built here. It arrived in a forty foot container. Really nice house. Like an actual proper house. Of course it still had to be built the normal way.

People get houses brought over here on the badges too. That body of water adds another dimension to things but it's not a deal breaker totally.

Oh hell yeah! Congrats, super exciting. And I bet much anxiety gone now. Sounds like not work day tomorrow should also be celebrating time!

What's the plans with the block of land?

Thanks. Yes you would be correct that it's a no work day. Got pretty hammered yesterday. I went to Coorparoo to sign the paperwork. I got him a $100 bottle of JD as a thank you.

My plans, I have a 10 metres by 6 metres shed on order from Stratco. $16,000 interest free for 60 months.

I'll get a slab put down for that. Then I'll get the septic system put in. That will use all my money that I currently have. But I also have a buyer for my first block. No RE involved. A cousin of a friend wants it so that worked out great.

I'll have to pay a chunk of that to my loan as I have to keep it at 80% of loan value. ( I'm borrowing 80% of the total value of both blocks currently. ) That will give me another $2O,000 to play with.

After that it's going to be a long slog to build a smallish house. It will have a big deck to take in the beautiful water views. I'll be using whatever left over wages that I have.

It's not going to be easy. But an adventure and something I've wanted to do for decades.

Ah nice, big and long job, but sounds awesome and super rewarding!! Plus in guessing after all that house sitting and moving about, will be very welcome to get into your own space!

Yes absolutely. I rented the same unit in Southport for six years. They sold that during Covid in 2020. Since then I have now lived in 7 houses. Bloody hell first time I've counted. Yes settling will be bloody beautiful. Too old for this shit.

Cheers.
