This entire debacle is a farce. How the fuck is the Government and Supreme Court involved in this bullshit , how is this even News.

I agree that this is farcical and over the top. But I see what they're trying to do: the last thing we want is people taming wildlife for the 'gram and clout.

Is it though?

Like obviously not explicitly taming but for example with birds feeding them is generally associated with positive impacts on population and health, with negative effects probably addressable by improved education around it. e.g. these papers:

Currently our urban spaces are increasingly hostile to the earthings we share them with, or at least are supposed to. The approach we have in Australia is failing, our fellow earthlings are dying off. I am not sure encouraging more interaction with wildlife is a bad thing.

If you're putting up a bird feeder/bath in your yard, I'm totally on board. Hell, I won't even mind if you set up a wildlife camera and create clips of birds using it.

If however, you take a joey home and film your family adventures with it in your living room and upload that online, I'll start to question your motives.

I do believe the family molly magpie lives with have good intentions. I don't want them to inspire thousands of imitators.

I don't want them to inspire thousands of imitators.

I don't think there is evidence of this happening. In the meantime a bird gets psychologically messed up by tearing them from the family they appear to have bonded with and the lifestyle they seem to freely choose.

I'm sus on the family and they shouldn't have adopted molly in the first place.

I'm more interested in insects being in your kitchen than mine bro/jk
